Way too powerful even for its own presets. Burns popcorn AND leaves three times the kernels as my old Panasonic. Can’t poach/softboil an egg in a ramekin with water. burns hard taco shells when heating them. Doesn’t show the clock again when a timer is finished, you always have to hit Stop/Reset. Can’t use Sensor Reheat and a timer at the same time. Build quality seems fine.

Nice microwave. Good size, easy to use, easy to clean, and has a moderate amount of power. I love that it has a mute function.
Be sure to check out the Warehouse Deals; I managed to buy this one for a good price, and the only “damage” was on the packaging. It’s still not as cheap as you would get at a local store, as I imagine shipping costs are included in the price, but it was alright.
EDIT: I take that back. Do NOT buy one from Warehouse Deals. These microwaves must have been dropped. I am being forced to try and return this one after it: blew the fuse for the outlet during normal use; ran by itself and refused to stop even after opening and closing the door. There is something messed up inside. Although it worked okay at first, these defects make the microwave dangerous and unusable.
I was actually happy with the microwave before that so I am leaving 3 stars. I’m pretty sure this was from the damage sustained in the warehouse, but it’s possible that it’s just a poor quality microwave, so you’ll have to judge for yourself.

Just a solid microwave. You should ask yourself – do I need a microwave large enough to defrost a frozen ostrich? Do I need 2500 watts of power so that there’s a 3 second margin of error between warming up my Dinty Moore and painting the walls of my microwave with it? When you reach a certain age, you start rethinking some things. I bought a luxury microwave and all I use it for is to reheat junk food that wasn’t that good the first time around. Yeah, Dennis, I do need to exercise more. But I’m also going to buy a smaller microwave and clear up some counter space for more fruit. This is that microwave, and I recommend it.

I did not get paid or receive anything for my review. I personally purchased and paid for this item from Amazon.ca ( Verified Purchase ).
This made in China “ Toshiba “ stainless steel model with 1.2 Cu.ft and 1100 Watts works great and looks great. Its fairly heavy but is an average weight for a 1.2 cu ft microwave. The enclosure or cabinet of the stainless steel model is a semi gloss black colour with stainless steel accents around the outer edges of the door and the control panel and on the door handle itself and don’t forget to remove the plastic film covering the control panel. Besides being available in the correct size and wattage, the most important “ Must Have “ feature that I look for in a new microwave, is a unit that has an actual door handle. Door handles on microwaves are nothing new and are available on almost every ( Over The Range ) models, but when it comes to a ( Counter Top Model ) the majority of these units either have a Push Button or Rotary / Dial door opening mechanism. If a microwave does not have a door handle I simply do not consider it for purchase regardless of the price or how excellent the reviews. The door handle on this stainless steel Toshiba model is well designed and feels and sounds solid and opens the door with ease.
Lighting inside the microwave cabinet is another important feature that I look for in a microwave. This Toshiba 1.2 Cu.ft, 1100W model has LED lights inside that come on when you open the door and when the unit is running. The inside LED lights are positioned all on the ( front right ) side of the inside of the cabinet but there location still provides adequate lighting to the entire inside of the unit. The lights are in the very same location as my previous Sears microwave. The ( 10 x 6 inch ) actual portion of the door window that you can actually see through is like most microwaves and offers a slightly distorted view but with the aid of the LED lighting you can vaguely view whats going on inside the microwave with limited clarity. The glass turntable is 12.4 inches in diameter and rotates smoothly on the turntable wheel.
The green coloured LED display for the clock and the timer is an adequate viewing size and crisp and clear and just the correct brightness. To set the clock you simply press Clock and enter the time and then press Clock again. Other than the green LED TIMER display there are no other “ Backlighted “ buttons on this unit. The two most distinct function buttons on the control panel are the white and red { Start and Stop buttons }. These two very noticeable / distinct buttons are soft touch function buttons like all the other buttons and like the others are not “ Backlighted “. Pressing the Start Button adds an additional 30 seconds to the cook time every time you push it. If you want the unit to run for 6 minutes on high just push the number 6 on the keypad and the unit instantly starts. The microwave has a pleasing audible tone that beeps 5 times when the unit is done cooking. The beeping can be turned On or Off by holding the number 8 key in for five seconds. I prefer the beeping on.
This microwave has vents on the left hand side area at the bottom back corner and on the top of the unit at the very back and on the back plate of the unit by the power cord. There is very little heat transmitted from these vented areas that I could detect. When the unit is first started there is a noticeable hum that soon dissipates and gets quieter and over all the unit is fairly quiet and has a low output of sound that is not annoying. The dimensions displayed and shown in one of the advertisement photos of the product on amazon.ca are correct. Not owning any other Toshiba products, I won’t be taking any chances and will be holding onto the shipping box and all the packaging for the entire One Year Warranty period. At present the Toshiba microwave is operating and functioning correctly and I will update my review if or when there are any changes or surprises in it’s performance. I hope you enjoyed my review and it was helpful.
***** UPDATE Jan 7th, 2020. I have used this microwave daily for more than one year and it still functions perfectly and I have zero complaints. My only disappointment is the fact that all my other appliances are white in colour but this Toshiba microwave only is available in two stainless steel colours. JT

Worked fine for 18 months but not as versatile as my previous Panasonic. Instructions for auto functions confusing and too many steps. Magnetron died .. loud buzz, arcing and smoked! Manufacturer unsupportive despite short lifetime of unit.
Out of 1 year warranty … had MasterCard additional year. 3 different repair Toshiba places suggested .. 2 advised parts very difficult to obtain and expensive,
3rd wanted $100 plus to diagnose already known issue and would be expensive part repair not worth replacing …!Advised against keeping and using as convection .. possible hazard!
Customer service .. friendly enough .. asked to email details to their counterpart USA .. never received response called again after long wait was told out was out if luck! Could do nothing!!
Delegated for disposal!
Out of interest found did further research ..
this breakdown not uncommon.

The microwave itself seemed to work fine and looked nice, but I had to return it because it stuck out too far on our shelf. The electrical plug was NOT a flat, wall-hugger type plug, so once the unit was plugged into the wall, it made the microwave stick out another inch and a half. Our microwave shelf has a limited amount of space, so I based my decision to buy this microwave on the size measurements given in the description. Perhaps Toshiba needs to modify the design of the plug, or the depth measurement should be changed in the description!

We moved into a new house with no range microwave so I was on the hunt for a countertop. This one fit the bill and after a month of use, we are pretty happy with it. I was looking for:
– Quick 30 button that didn’t need an addition button press to start
– Quick minute button, bonus for 2-6 quick minute buttons
– Handle to open the door
– >=1000w power
– Bonus points for small footprint due to limited counter space
The only thing that really missed the mark was the footprint, but I did a lot of comparisons, and this one’s footprint is pretty much average for a microwave of this capacity.
We didn’t need a fancy machine with all the bells and whistles. We really just needed something that would reheat leftovers so we don’t use the presets or other functions on this microwave. I did try the butter melt/soften function once and the butter boiled over, so I don’t think they really work all that well anyway.
Overall, we are very happy with this microwave! A countertop microwave with a handle instead of a button for door operation really narrows down the choices, and I’m really happy we chose this one!
