So i got it. cleaned it as per the instructions manual, plugged it in, pressed the button, had a THANKFULLY small bit of electrocution, enough to make my finger numb for a good 2 hours, which was followed by the item smoking to the point it set the fire alarm off. After cooling it off and leaving it outside to see if there was an internal fire or whether it would burn itself out. After around an hour when the smoke dissipated , i opened it up (tamper screw? HAH) found a soft plastic piece cover in the middle of the electrical connections (which was pretty burnt), and pulled it lose. After wards, when i used it, it worked perfectly (i covered the button with electrical tape incase of more electrocutions)
The coffee it made was weird to say the least,it took its time and slowly dripped it out and when it shutoff, i thought it was done, therefore i pulled the mug out (it had stopped dripping for 30 seconds). A minute later more coffee dripped out and made a mess. And i cleaned it up, read the review of other people facing this issue and added a mug to it after cleaning and lo and behold, a couple of minutes later more coffee dripped out luckily caught by the mug in question.
The coffee tasted weird. A bit plasticky but i shall chalk that upto the burning adventure i had with it and will wait a bit to see if it changes. Amazon has been informed that the item was made working again by me but they still stuck to their refund and have told me that the manufacture has been contacted on my behalf.

My first review is below. I am changing this now. After only a few months of use, the machine keeps turning itself off part way through the brew cycle. I have to stand there and turn the switch back on several times while it is brewing.
This was PERFECT for me, and I loved it while it worked for a very short time.
First review: This does what it should – makes 16 oz of coffee. I bought some small paper filters on amazon to use with the filter basket, and I’ve been very happy with this very affordable purchase.

It’s compact and straightforward to use. Convenient enough. Light, brazenly plastic. Subpar mug that serves its purpose modestly.
The water reservoir is a small target, so you must pour slowly and carefully, and better off using something with a spout. Unless you unplug and pour directly from the tap. The filter isn’t fine enough, grinds get through into your drink. If you use a mug that is shorter than indent, it sprays a bit of coffee around the maker. Once your cup is full, it automatically turns off, you take it away, it continues to leak, particularly if you don’t dispose the used coffee immediately. Make the time in your morning to dump the grinds or have a pool of coffee on your counter. Or put another cup under to catch the drops and dirty an extra dish.
It’s a delicate time of the day when used. I need more hand-holding!

It is a very cheap alternative which makes better coffee than my workplace’s machines. I have a Pavoni espresso machine at home so I am used to bold creamy espressos. I was however pleasantly surprised by this machine’s performance. For this price, you really need to give it a try if you’re looking for a single coffee maker.
Pros: having a reusable filter, very easy to rinse. Economical and environmental centric choice
Cons: there’s a little hole on the back to air out humidity and prevent mould formation, which is a good idea but it would have been nicer to have it on the side, since the back is often against the wall. I have to place it farther than usually done with coffee machines
Update: it mysteriously broke down. The water comes straight down to the cup without infusing coffee . Very disappointed.
Tank Killer –
Very good product, fits my contigo cup perfectly. I was tired of paying too much for kurieg cups and this was the best solution. Brew time is about 5 minutes (if you wait for the final drips), and I rinse the filter out every time takes 2 seconds. Best 25 bucks I spent in a while

The coffee they have at my work is horrible, and due to some health issues it didn’t quite agree with my stomach either. Searching around online for a single cup solution, I do remember there being a lot more variety of these things a few years ago. This was the cheapest/simplest one I could find, and it was well worth the money. Easy cleanup with the reusable filter, and has never failed at making me a straight forward cup of coffee. I can also make it as strong or as weak as I like. Not really much to say, other than it works.

This little (and inexpensive!) machine does not disappoint. I have two of them; one at work and one at home and have been using them both for at least two years now. I am a self-proclaimed coffee snob, and this makes good coffee. It is nice to make one cup at a time and enjoy it fresh and hot and not have it sit and get bitter. It does not use K-cups etc (and me and the world’s landfills wish you wouldn’t either!). I use my own favorite brand of coffee in the built in re-usable filter which comes out easily and is quick/easy to clean. You can also buy paper filters this size if you prefer.
The only downside of this unit: the travel mug it comes with is plastic so I don’t use it. A regular kitchen mug is too short and would cause splashing. I brew into a small metal thermos (see photo). If your favorite travel mug is 7″ tall or shorter it will fit.

I needed a single-cup brew system and this one is perfect and such a great price. If I use the provided to-go mug, I follow the instructions to pour water to the “MAX” line inside the water reservoir. If I am using a mug at home, I just fill the mug with water and using a kitchen funnel, I pour that into the reservoir so it’s exactly the amount of water I need. You don’t need to use the funnel, but this ensures so spillage!
I love, love, love the permanent filter included with this. This is great for the environment. I also wanted one I could use loose coffee grounds with because my favourite coffee is McCafe. I find the coffee nice and hot and you don’t have to wait for the brewer to set up. It’s just so easy and affordable. Really pleased with this.
