It doesn’t have any lane guidance. It doesn’t have alerts about the tolls and constructions. I could not find the addresses my six years old Garmin has been taking. It has cell phone features doesn’t worthwhile buying. It is hard to drive in big cities without the lane guidance. It is useless driving with it on the complicated flyovers of large cities. Having found several features missing that were there in old GPS I decided not to retain it. The product lacks serial numbers, manufacturing number or the batch numbers.I am not sure if it is genuine TomTom.

If you buy a TomTom GO from Amazon USA then it only has Traffic and Speed Camera subscriptions for USA. These functions will not work in other regions.

Nowhere is this stated in TomTom’s marketing material and product listings. In fact for the GO models the word “worldwide” is repeated so incessantly I do think it’s a deliberate attempt to mislead the buyer into thinking that all its functions are usable worldwide.

The saving grace is that TomTom customer service is quite good. If you ask they will change the unit’s subscription region to your location.

However the fact remains – Traffic and Speed Cameras are NOT worldwide and and will only work for one region at a time. I don’t know if there is a limit as to how many times and how often customer support will change it for you.

Replaced my old unsupported TomTom GPS with this new model. The map software has several faults as on a recent trip in my Motorhome it tried to take me on dirt roads. The worst was when only 1 mile from the border crossing into Canada it told me to turn right onto a dirt road that did not have a crossing point into Canada. This could have got us into a lot of trouble. I would go back to my old unit if it was still supported. TomTom appears to stop supporting older models that had lifetime maps just to get you to buy a new one. Look at other makes.

I bought this unit to replace one TomTom advised was no longer supported. It arrived and is entirely French language! I can’t even get past the opening message, which I think says not only do I have to buy the unit but also a memory card to run it (would have been nice to know that first!) and the on-line help wants to charge me $5 just to tell me how to switch the unit over to English so I can understand what the unit wants. Seriously? Then after my seven day, $5 trial they want to charge $66 per month to help you in the future. Tried the phone support and the message says go to on-line help, then disconnects. So dissappointed in this company now, it used to be one of the better ones. Now I’m waiting on the rrival of a micro SD card to see if installing that will get me to a point where I can figure out if this unit is totally French or if I am able to switch over to English. Very frustrated. Can’t comment as to the effectiveness of the maps or other functions since I can’t get past the main menu yet. 🙁

Updates…particularly the first one takes considerable time. Road accuracy was good. To bad you have to use your smartphone for traffic updates. Dont have data on my phone so that didn’t work well. Answers calls and bluetooth connectivity good. Easy to read and easy to set up route. Alternate route set-up not very intuitive but acceptable. Maps seemed to be up to date. Have used TomTom for last 10 years. 3rd device…all worked well.A little expensive.

TomTom customer service to this day never replied. Unit would take 4 hours to download map and never finished the download. Tried 4 times using “My drive” and TomTom Home. It never worked. Thanks to Amazon.ca for their great service!. I had to returned it!. Useless.

Huge upgrade from my old TomTom! Arrived on time in perfect condition. The Wifi updates are convenient and fast. The voice control is a nice touch and works well. Like the 6 inch display, which is very clear, easy to read and use. Speaker has lots of volume and clear. Bluetooth connects quickly. I’m very impressed with the quality of the mount and that the USB cable plugs directly into the mount. This makes for quick release and storage of the Tomtom. Very pleased with this GPS navigation and highly recommend it.

I’ve had half a dozen auto Tom Tom GPS over the years. I only bought this one because the so-called “lifetime” maps were no longer supported on my old device and the voice was scratchy.
This one took some getting used to with the different menu and displays. I wouldn’t say it’s user-friendly transitioning from the older Tom Toms.
My biggest complaint is that when not driving a route, it displays a faint, hard to read 2D street map, north up. I’d prefer a 3D direction of travel with easy to see streets and names, like the older ones.
It has a bigger screen, but the streets and fonts appear smaller than on the smaller sets.
The default voice turn-by-turn direction was off. Took a while to figure out how to turn it on.
The blue tooth connection was easy enough to set up, but it took a while to figure out how to make the phone connection actually work. The older systems told me when my phone was connected.
The 6″ screen is nice, but it sits too high on my truck dashboard, blocks more of the windshield . Tried to flip the mount over to lower it, but the display doesn’t flip.
I don’t like having to select menu to cancel route and to select everything else.
I don’t like it going to the default 2D wide-area map display when you reach a destination. In my case, it shows my whole subdivision with a golf course, but you need to zoom in to see street names.
The wifi connection is nice! I can update the Tom Tom while it sits at home in the driveway, instead of having to take it out and plug it into my laptop overnight.
The voice sound quality is much better.
I’ve only had it for a month, so there may be more to follow. Haven’t experienced the traffic alerts and re-routing. It will get a real work out next month when I travel from Arizona back to Canada.

I was more than disappointed with the TomTom Go620. I was afraid!
Trying to find our AirBnb in Spain was was a horrible experience. The GPS could not find our destination(Casares del Mar in Estepona, Spain. I was told we had reached our destination in the middle of the highway!!! It then took us to the next round about and led us to a dirt road with a very large grade virtually a cliff!! My wife lost it! I turned around and had to use Google Maps to find our destination. I used Google Maps for the rest of our trip as the TomTom Go620 was too unreliable.
I bought a TomTom because I had Via series GPS previously. It worked very well in North America. The TomTom Go620 was bought for a trip to Portugal and Spain.
I want to return this device but, the 30 day window that Amazon has capped on electronics has passed. I would have returned it sooner but, I was in Europe.
I am now stuck with this piece of ____!

Purchased this item after a trip through Europe as a replacement / upgrade for a Tomtom Via – which served us well on our trip despite a failed internal battery (that Via was a replacement for another newly purchased Via which could not hold the needed memory expansion card).

Anyway, despite an awkward user interface, this GO 620 has many desirable features – most of which we did not have an opportunity to try out since the item failed in a couple of pretty basic ways prior.

First, downloading maps and system updates (which you are requested to do immediately – and which you will probably need to install a memory expansion micro-sd card to complete) was a stressing challenge. Updates are to be done via wifi or usb connection to a computer. Took me 1/2 day to successfully download US, Canada & Mexico maps (usb consistently failed but was finally successful via wifi). Was never able to download Europe maps at all using either method; kept getting message “Oops Something went wrong. Please try again.” No success at all after many attempts so initiated a case with tomtom tech support – who have been completely unresponsive for 3 days now.

Second, we tested this GO 620 an a trip from our home in NM to a restaurant in El Paso, TX along a route with which we were very familiar. Used our older Garmin to compare. The Tomtom was trying to take us along some really bizarre routes which were completely illogical. Our trip from El Paso back to home in NM was pretty much a 45 mile straight shot along I-10. We set the GPS preferences to take us along the fastest route (umm, that would be along I-10, yes?). Nonetheless, the GO 620 repeatedly tried to take us off I-10 onto some farm roads – and then, amazingly, back onto I-10. Go figger!

Bottom line: can’t download your maps, can’t get reliable route guidance, can’t get responsive tech support – in short – you can’t get what you expected and paid for. 3rd Tomtom product going back to Amazon. Very disappointing!

Not as comfortable with the Tomtom as with my Garmin, Travelling with it some traffic speed areas were not correct. Still getting over the learning curve, of finding ways of searching for places the easiest way, Love the map capability and switching between the map areas. Has a great way of release and return of navigator to the windshield attachment. will be taking this to the UK and I am sure I will be very familiar with it following that trip

I have used GPS navigation for many years. The GO 620 is a very easy to use GPS. The map updates via Wifi are excellent. No connection to a computer is needed at all. The lane guidance works very well. It clearly shows the number of lanes available for the next turn even on complicated US interstate highways. The TomTom phone App can be used to plan routes in advance but can only be uploaded to the GO 620 via Wifi. This is very annoying if you are on a road trip as you would have to log into your available Wifi networks every time. It would be so much easier if it could be done by the Bluetooth connection. The weakest part are the POI’s , state and national parks can not be found in many cases but when I search manually on the map it even shows the individual street names in a park. Campgrounds are usually only showing if they are commercial.
Overall I would recommend this GPS.

YouTube video online was miss leading! TomTom 620 is a great gps HD screen, voice commands work well and had split screen for details lane change assistant when complex intersection ahead . Most disliked features is on every trip I need to disable the toll road! Other than that I am very happy with this TomTom go 620.
