I really love this lens, it works great. Its fully manual so it’s not super easy to use but if you know your f/stops then it’s simple! It clearly marks focal range. I love using it for large viewpoints or interesting structures but it is quite versatile as a panoramic lens

The lens comes with lens covers, bag and a very clear instruction book. It took me several seconds to snap the lens in place and after fiddling a little bit found my camera (D3300) would only recognize the lens in one position but at that point my aperture scale lit up and auto focus was working as it should so I took it for a shoot. This lens focuses very well and gives a nice clear image you very simply set it to infinity and fire away once focused. Really nice for tight shot stills and scenery shots distort nicely giving dramatic depth effects. I haven’t taken any night shots but I am sure this lens will perform. A simple straight forward lens that’s priced well and makes your shots a lot of fun. If you’re looking for a fisheye with a good build quality for cheap this or Samyang ( same company) is a choice I am happy with.

Buen lente, tiene algo de aberración cromática, esférica y coma. Pero si no lo quieren para astro fotografía está bien

Fun lens to use on my aps-c format cameras.. Sharp enough and more than good enough for most of my purpose for such a lens.

For the price I didn’t expect much, but it sounded like a fun lens so I decided to give it a try. I have been pleasantly surprised.

This lens is pretty sharp, and the removable shade is a bonus, allowing a circular fisheye effect on FX format cameras (it’s really a DX lens). Seems to be well made, reasonable heft, the focus and aperture rings are solid. Earlier versions of this lens (with the non-removable shade) apparently had an issue with the lens cap falling off. My lens does not have this issue.

I have the Nikon F mount version, which includes an auto diaphragm (I don’t think the Canon version has auto diaphragm so be aware). Metering works fine on my DSLR. There is no prong for meter coupling to a Nikon FTn type finder, so you have to use stop down metering on those cameras. It does have the AI coupling ridge for use on more modern film and DSLR bodies. It also has CPU contacts and reports “Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fish-Eye CS” in the EXIF data.

A couple of photos are attached. Both were taken at f/8; the depth of field is impressive. Some flare is visible in the second one. These were taken on an Nikon D810.

Don’t be afraid to buy this lens.

Just got back from a night out of shooting with this bad boy for the first time and I must say, it’s amazing! Details are very soft at any aperture below f5, but just make sure to keep it above (and shoot with a tripod if you can in low-light, you won’t regret it!). For the price, this is impressive. I was surprised to see an automatic aperture mode on this lens, as everything I read said it was manual only (I guess they were only referring to the focus). Also, since it is so wide (180 degrees), it is almost impossible to get landscape shots out of focus, so don’t worry too much about it not having auto-focus if you plan on using it for landscapes).

Can’t go wrong for the price!

Had a “Super Wide angle” lens many years back and loved it. I wanted to get the same type lens for my Nikon but the cost of the Nikon lens was just more than I cared to spend based on my needs. Then I found this lens. I spent a lot of time reading reviews all over the web. Seems this lens is sold under a lot of different names and there are a lot of different models of it. Its hard reading the descriptions to know just what you are getting. I would recommend you to to the manufacturer’s website and view their catalog if you have any questions.

This lens is for the Nikon and it has the “chip” to make it work with some functions with the camera. Yes, its manual focus but honestly, you don’t do much focusing with a lens like this. You can just sort of guess the distance and set it for something close to that and be fine. Of course with a digital you can just shoot some test shots and set it up that way also.

This Nikon model with the “chip” does share info with the camera so its very easy to use both with and without a flash. When properly set it will set the aperture automatically. Also I find it to work very well metering automatically with my flash. I am using this lens on both a Nikon D5200 and a D7100. I normally just set the camera to Auto ISO and use the “P” (Program) setting. At most I have only had to make minor adjustments in flash power on more close up type photos. This lens seems to work very well with both of my cameras.

How good are the photos? Well, they are great for what I need. I work on a ship and needed photos taken in very confined spaces like the engine room. This lens was just perfect for doing extreme wide angle shots as well as close ups. Clarity is very good as is color. In some recent photos I did I noted that when I enlarged some of the photos I could easily read the text on items ten or fifteen feet away. It was quite impressive. I have used more expensive lens that did no better but cost much more.

There are several models of this lens so take your time and pick the one that is right for you. You can buy if without the “chip” and save a few bucks but considering the small difference in price and how well the “chipped”” model works I would go with this one. Also you can buy it with a fixed (built in) hood or a removable hood like this one. I went with the removable hood as I also use this on my full frame camera and I wanted to be able to shoot without hoot if I wanted. (Be warned…the front element of the lens protrudes out and you need to be careful about getting too close to things).

If you use Light Room you can do some computer magic on the photos you take with this lens. I use the lens correction feature and correct much of the curved lines you can get up close. you should experiment with the settings to get the results you want. I think I normally use something like a “Nikon 10mm Fisheye” listing and it cleans up the photos pretty well automatically.

I love what I can do with this lens and wonder why I didn’t buy one sooner! I would buy this again without hesitation. The lens has more uses than you might think. Fact is if you like photography and like to experiment or if you need a lens that you can use for super wide shots in confined spaces then this is the lens for you. It does the job and you just can not beat the price. Great value and very useful, the perfect combination.

I was drawn in by the price … way less than any other fish-eye lens I’ve seen. Picture quality is good. There is no zoom, but that is not a real drawback for me. The manual focus takes a while to get use to … one has to guess or measure the distance, and that is hard to do for any action shot … that’s where the final star went. It’s an F 3.5 lens, but can be adjusted up to F 22 if desired.

This lense seems to have good sharpnesss and colour across the whole field. The auto exposure and manual modes work well on my Nikon D7200. The construction of this lense seems to be good, with a metal mount and contact points. The lense cap is necessarily large to cover the front element but it clips in place with catches on the lense shade. Post processing of photos with this lense will allow you to remove some of the fisheye curve if you desire and you could easily use this to shoot a small room and see the whole area ie. if shooting for real estate work. The curvature inherent in this lense would be acceptable in many different shooting styles as an artistic flair. I like the lense and it’s quality. A good lense for the price. The Bridge photo below is taken with this lense.

Not quite as wide and distorted as I’d hoped but overall it is okay. We needed it for one shoot so price was the most important consideration. Doubt if we will use it much unless future clients want the fisheye look than cannot be created in post.

This review is for the new 8mm F3.5-HD Fish-Eye CS II (UPC 0 84438 760650 1) for Nikon camera bodies. The lens mounting ring on the lens seriously binds when attempting to attach to my Nikon D7100. It requires strength to lock in the lens and more strength to remove. I am concerned that this lens could wear down and/or damage the mating mounting ring on my Nikon camera body. I have 6 Nikon brand lenses that out-of-the-box mount with an easy twist and click. Apparently, the Rokinon lens I just purchased has a mounting ring that does not meet the Nikon mounting specification. I am wondering if the lens I just purchased was a fluke (poor quality control) or typical of this lens (poor design). I am returning this lens to Amazon as defective. I will not purchase a replacement unless I can be reassured that my lens was an isolated defective unit.

Another faulty issue that I noticed was that the alignment white dot is located up by the primary lens and it does not line up with the white dot on the camera body. The rotational error is close to an inch. Again a quality issue that should be simple to fix at the manufacturing point.

Due to the issue of mounting the lens I have no idea of the lens quality optics or operation.

What i don’t understand is why there is a focus ring when it’s a fixed focus lens. You can’t focus this which is no big deal the pictures turn out great. I like the look of how the pictures turnout it’s built sturdy no complaints from me.
