The price is more than fair. My Nikon d500 with the battery pack fits very tight. The tilt posistion is not very sturdy. i do ha battery pack on my Nikon D500 very tight to fit. You need to pay attention to the Quick Shoe lock knob, mine get loose and camera can fall off. IF YOU LOSE A PART GOOD LUCK TRYING TO BUY A REPLACEMENT PART!!! I have been searching on how to buy a replacement Quick Shoe 1/4 screw joint. I can’t find one.
If you know how to order one let me know, for now it is a door stopper!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this to use for wildlife photography as my setup is well over 7 pounds. My last tripod couldn’t lock my big Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens and camera in place. As soon as I let go it would tip towards the ground even on the tightest setting.
This Gimbal head however, not only holds the weight of my big lens, camera and battery grip with 2 batteries, but it locks it in solid and I can move it fluidly.
It even came with a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter so I could mount it to my heavy duty tripod regardless of thread type.
I’m very happy with it and in fact I’ll be going out this morning to use it.

I bought this inexpensive head for a fairly inexperienced second shooter to use on a monopod or tripod without having to worry about a gripped body and fairly heavy 70-200mm taking an unbalanced nosedive on a ball head when not being hand stabilized,
This is not the perfectly smooth and “floating” gimbal that you’d get for $600 — not even close, so don’t expect it.
I kept it and have had the second shooter use it a few time. We’re shooting something that is coming nearly straight at us, so we need stability and smooth panning, and don’t need very much or very quick tilt adjustability.
•There is no registration pin on the plate to keep the lens from unscrewing the attachment screw with any movement of the camera. I’ve pretty much fixed that with a big screwdriver and some thread lock.
•The security of the plate within the receiver needs to be checked and tightened regularly during a shoot and it’s not as easy to mount as other “arca” combinations that I’ve used.
•The pan feels smooth and solid,
•The tilt would be the problem for someone who was expecting smooth and silky operation. There don’t seem to be any bearings or bushings – loosening the tilt knob just lets the arm sag and bind. Nothing that you’d want for following BIF or trying to follow active up/down, back/forth action..
•It’s probably possible to achieve something close to balance, but you can’t be sure because there is so much friction in the tilt function. when it’s loosened.
It’s exactly what I expected and it works OK for my intended use for the two or three times a year that I’ll have someone else use it.

My first attempt at trying to find an inexpensive gimbal head, but was somewhat disappointing.
Pros:
– Inexpensive
– Materials are not bad (sturdy)
– Comes with 3/8″-1/4″ bushing/adapter
Cons:
– When tilt knob is loosened, gap appears between arm and frame, so arm “slumps” and is no longer horizontal. If you tighten the tilt know, gap disappears, but can no longer tilt.
– Tilt motion is stuck unless tilt knob loosened a lot (but then get gap and slumping)
– Panning seem not bad, but there is some sticking
– Edges are kind of sharp
– Knob for opening/closing the Arca-style clamp sticks
