The meter does exactly what it’s supposed to. And a value at $40+/-
My first one arrived and upon inserting the batteries a connector tab broke off. I made arrangements on Amazon for a replacement. Before I even heard from Amazon BTMeter contacted me offering a free replacement. Wow! They communicated with me on 2 other occasions as well to get me a new meter. I was so impressed I actually declined their offer wishing to purchase the meter as originally intended. Great customer service from BTMeter!

Meter not accurate nor calibrated properly for hid or LED grow lights. Instructions state (from what I can understand due to terrible written English) that it is calibrated to a standard incandescent lamp at a color temp of 2856k. Which is terrible for hid grow lights which in my case sit at about 4200k and explains it’s super low lux reading when placed under one. I literally had to just about touch the meter of off my 600w mh conversion hid air cooled hood to get it to even read 80k lux. At canopy level which is 18 inches under the light it’s only reading 28k lux which is a very low reading for that type of bulb and wattage at that distance, and it also disagrees with my umol meter and what my plants are telling me. So basically if you use this meter to set or adjust canopy light intensity you WILL cook your plants because this meter reads a estimate of 30-40k lux lower then the true reading under a hid lamp. Reads accurate in sun light though, but that’s useless for indoor growers like my self who use hid grow lamps that have a completely different conversion factor then natural sun light.

This is my first time using a light meter (new orchid enthusiast). I truthfully cannot say that this instrument is accurate – I have nothing to compare it to. The instruction manual is not helpful beyond telling you what buttons are on the meter – was hoping for some guidance on what the buttons do, some are intuitive, some are not. The package arrived on time and in great condition.

only 3 stars because I bought it for LED plant lights while it does not measure LED lights as claimed in the description. Else than that the meter is fine if to be used to measure standard light intensities.

The unit met… even exceeded my needs which were to measure light intensity in FC and Lux. Unit shipped with a manual, AAA batteries, a small phillips head screwdriver for the battery door. Everything was contained inside a zippered case. The thermometer mode is also handy. Operation is very intuitive. I did not have to use the manual.

This meter worked great and even has a backlight for reading the display in low light areas. I especially like the detachable sensor because it allows you to take accurate light readings without your own body blocking the light. I use mine for measuring light levels on our tennis court. I attach the sensor to the top of a tripod to keep it level. I am very happy with this instrument.

I use this meter to judge how strong the LUX is, to determine the best distance the LED lights should be hung above my plants.

Your cell phone LUX App is not consistent or accurate enough to perform this delicate task. Buy this, you can’t do without it. Or burn your plants, alot.

Headline says it all unfortunately. I needed this device for the listed “PAR meter” function which this device does not have. PAR and LUX are two very different ways to measure light. I’m using LED lights, and LUX meters read horribly inaccurately with LED lights, so it’ll typically list well over or under what your little plants are actually receiving. This was an easy to use device, so if you’re using grow lights *other than* LED or if you DO NOT need PAR readings, this I’m sure is a great device. In its current state, however, the product is listed incorrectly, and I’m yet again on the hunt for an affordable PAR meter that ACTUALLY reads PAR – this ain’t it.
