I really can not drink tap water so am back too using Brita filters to solve the problem and really like the new design that prevents the tap water from pouring directly on the top of the filter itself. I like the flip top cap and the meter that flashes green when I fill it with water. Now I am wondering how long it will be before I need too change the filter. Normally the filters are done inside of two month for me since I drink so much water.

I see you still have too line the filter inside grove up with the guide lip inside the barrow of the filter itself and the filter will not fit or work right if you do not line the two parts up properly.

Good size water pitcher with 1 free filter. Nice color and crystal clear water display.

    Pros:
    – The pitcher is compact with perfect handle and stores up to 6 cups and purifies the water and reduces the chlorine and improves the taste.
    – One great feature is the filter status which indicates when to change the filter.

    Cons:
    – The small lid at the top is slightly loose and water spills when serving while top section is filled with water.

I recommend this product for pure water storage and to drink filtered water for healthy life.

I am a die hard water bottle fan, but I found it expensive and so wasteful. The Brita is a classic, but I did find it tricky to initially get the lid on after installing the filter. There is a groove in the container itself, that lines up with the filter. I did not see this easily visible on the instructions. It honestly made no sense how the lid was going to fit back on. I had to watch a Youtube video how to get it on, that’s how strange it was for me…. Otherwise, great product, can’t go wrong.

I bought this Brita to replace a Mavea jug that bit the dust after 5 solid years’ use. This Brita is about half the price of a Mavea so thought I’d just get something smaller and cheaper. However, I already miss the brilliant Mavea input lid (which is easy to put on and also – more importantly – you can just pour water right into it, unlike with the Brita, where you have to press a lever to get the intake lid to pop up). This is a little design choice that makes a big difference.

I too had trouble with putting on the Brita lid but it was just a matter of truly lining up the notches in the filter as they only go one way.

There’s nothing fancy about this Brita, but it’s compact yet holds enough water for 2 people. If it were for a family, I’d recommend getting a larger Brita. This is a pretty basic unit. Still, for the price, I’m happy with it.

I’ll update this review if anything changes over time, given it’s only had a week of use so far. I hope it lasts 5 years like my ol’ Mavea jug!

OK, I read a lot of reviews about the lid not going on properly and I even had a moment myself where I was like, “The filter is in correctly and the lid isn’t fitting! WTF!?” But the filter wasn’t in correctly like I thought…

Here’s what I figured out: First, make sure you line up the groove on the side of the filter when placing it in the pitcher. The bottom of the filter should line up with the “plus” shaped part of the pitcher where the filter sits. You’re not done! I did this and the lid wouldn’t fit right. Next, you have to make sure to push the filter down in place. Press gently but firmly. It will slide down just a little bit, giving enough room for the lid to fit correctly on the pitcher.

I believe most people having difficulty with the lid were doing what I initially did: They drop the filter in place and it looks right. Then they try to put the lid on and it doesn’t fit right. It won’t click in place. Just be sure to push the filter down after placing it in the pitcher.

Now you’re good to go. Happy drinking!

I received mine today. Ignore the reviews that say the top falls off, isn’t secure, etc. That’s all “operator error”, not a design flaw. If the filter is inserted without the slot in the side of the filter aligned with the fin projection in the reservoir, the filter will not fully seat in position. Yes, this will cause the lid to be loose. Just rotate the filter to the correct position, and it will snap down securely. Then the lid will fit properly and is not loose at all. It doesn’t come loose when pouring and stays in place until pulled off. It’s a good design and works well.

Like many other reviewers, I found the lid of this product to not fit properly. I’ve had an older Brita pitcher for years and mistakenly thought it was time for an upgrade. Upon my first use of my new pitcher, I struggled for almost half an hour to get the lid and filter to fit into place. The little piece of plastic that covers the spout also does not fit properly. (The instructions that came with this pitcher were no help.) I recently disassembled this pitcher a second time resulting in the entire unit ending up in the garbage. After trying again and again to insert the filer properly, the entire holder for the filer slid down to the bottom of the pitcher resulting in a large crack down the side. The entire pitcher is now worthless. I only gave this two stars because it does indeed hold and filer water and somehow I did manage to get the pieces to fit together one of two times. I understand that some have managed to learn the secret to this water filer but I would think a company like Brita would not sell a signature product of such poor design. Save your self much time and frustration and purchase a different model.

Like many other reviews, we discovered that the lid couldn’t close properly on our pitcher until we realized why. This pitcher is completely incompatible with the new advanced filters (like the one this comes with) since the new filters are too tall for the lid to close down completely. We had some spare older style Brita filters around, and tried it. Lid closes just fine, so it’s definitely the advanced filters that are the problem. We haven’t experienced leaking at the bottom or through the handle, yet, but we expect that over time that will happen. It’s happened to two other Brita pitchers we’ve owned. The plastic that Brita uses cannot withstand cold very well, so the plastic cracks from the expanding/contracting that happens when it changes in temperature.

Product: Brita Space Saver Pitchers, White

    My measurements [approx]
Weight [empty, no filter]: 540g [19oz]
Weight [empty, with used Longlast filter]: 639g [22.5oz] – this is the normal empty weight
    Max height: 26cm [10.25″]
    Max length: 11cm [4.25″]
Max width: 24.5cm [9.5″] – from tip of spout to back of handle

Total weight at pitcher full [reservior empty]: 2430g [85.7oz, 5.4lbs]
i.e. water weighted 1791g [equiv to 60.5 fl oz or 7.5 8oz cups]
Due to the design [if fill up to the lip inside reservior], could get another ~250g of water [8.5 fl oz]
and would only start to spill when pouring, after putting in yet another 150g [5 fl oz]
Maybe I’m slightly overfilling it [I tend to top it up] – 2 complete reservior fills/drains will fill pitcher

A 6 cup pitcher to replace an old [6+ years] 10 cup Brita red pitcher whose whose lid too easily detached

    The new has following advantages

    1) Much faster pour: Pouring spout is now much bigger so much quicker when pouring e.g. into larger items kettle, pan etc

    2) If tilted the old too much and there was water in it’s reservior [e.g. you had overfilled it], then pitcher lid
could come off and water everywhere – I usually held the lid, but sometimes forgot. New has the lid moulded
as part of the reservior [both old/new have flap in lid you lift to fill reservior with water]

    3) Physically smaller & lighter so fits in fridge easier [sorry, forgot the exact measurements of old but empty was ~20% heavier]

With old pitcher, due to 1) [slow pour] then tended to tilt pitcher to a steep angle to try to speed it up,
resulting in 2) happening even more!

The old had one advantage – it has larger capacity [new allows easier overfill to partly mitigate]

Compared to some of the other current Brita pitchers, I like that this has a cover over the
spout [to prevent debris getting in] and the curved sides look nicer than my old boxy 10 cupper

    Filter
I switched to the blue Brita Longlife filters – unlike the Standard white filters, these claim to filter Lead/Benzene/Asbestos
for the same running cost [they are 3 times as expensive but last 3 times longer]. See my review at
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RKPA2EPFPL47A/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01MU7973W

The indicator on new pitcher has the longlife setting [hold reset button to change from standard filter]

    Suggestions
    1) Slightly bigger capacity – maybe 8 cups officially rather than my overfill [by making pitcher slightly wider?]
Could also increase the height of lip inside reservior by 1″+ which would allow greater overfill without spill when pouring

    2) Have a clear reservior rather than white – these look good on other models

I had the older version the exact same pitcher (filter replacement gauge was on the lid and not the opening of the pitcher ) and this one is already a much better improvement. It pours better and has a better guideline for max water levels to avoid the handle from leaking. THE FILTER DOES FIT. some reviews say it doesn’t sit flush but IT DOES. There is only ONE WAY for the filter to fit, the long groove (only one side has the long groove) has to face the handle in order for it to sit flush. YES they could have provided better indication of this but I just wanted to assure everyone that it does close properly!!!! Just follow the photos !!!

I was put off this product since reading reviews of filters not fitting properly and the lid remaining ajar.
This in turn then happened to me and I was so annoyed that I’d ordered it anyway.
After forcing it down as hard as I could until my thumbs hurt, seeing if i could squeeze the sides to jam it in tighter etc. It wasn’t for going in.
I then took it out and saw that the 4 spokes weren’t lining up with the 4 slits in the filter despite it being a straight drop. Why they don’t fit or why it is designed to only fit one way i don’t know. But try all 4 possible ways to put in the filter and one (only one) will fit perfectly.
Brita, if you’re going to design something this way, atleats make this clear on the box or instructions how it fits otherwise you’ll quickly lose customers who don’t figure it out.

It’s a great price. Although most retailers now sell this in store for a dollar or two more than amazon price so probably works out cheaper than paying for the postage.

The box states it only filters out 3 of the elements you don’t want and comapred to other brands this isn’t very many but for the price and availability of filters, its a great budget option and one you dont need to wait forever to fil. Just over 1 minute for the filter to pass all water. Required 2 fillings until full.

I’m a long time Pur owner, and I would have been happy to keep buying them. But their new 6-7 cup pitchers are just crap. Very thin plastic, weak handles, and top heavy. I decided to take a chance on this Brita, and so far I am happy with it.
IMPORTANT: the bottom of the filter is cross type pattern, basically 4 squares on a round tube. But they aren’t equal. You have to rotate the filter just right in order for it to fully insert into the plastic frame. The bottom of the filter should stick down through the plastic frame. If not, the lid doesn’t sit tight, and will fall off when you pour water. I’m willing to bet the majority of complaints about this pitcher are due to people not having the filter seated properly.
