This is a great lens for the price. Great image quality, awesome for macro shots. I was a little hesitant after reading reviews of people having trouble with the autofocus but after receiving it I’d say those people are just maybe not fully aware of how telephoto lenses work.. If you’re too close to your subject and zoomed out all the way it won’t focus well but if you move back, away from your subject and zoom in you’ll have no problem with the autofocus. Totally worth the money!

It’s an older model lens but still top quality and this makes it a great value buy

First thing I have to say is that the price of this lens dropped $10 a week after I received mine…kind of a bummer. Also unlike most of my purchases I didn’t really do any research on this lens till after I bought it. Which turns out to be alright since most of the reviews I could find on YouTube weren’t that good. The main drawback on this lens is the lack of image stabilization. Now at this point I should mention that I only recently got my first dslr camera (used Canon T3i) Also I am still a newbie at photography as far as I’m concerned. So after reading the less then stellar reviews online about this lens after I bought it I thought oh oh. However I can tell you that so far I am really enjoying the pictures I have been able to capture with this lens. Granted having image stabilization would have been nicer BUT with a bit of practice and patience I was able to get some nice pictures. Of course using a remote or a timer and a tripod, you should have some good results. That said I was able to use it handheld and still get some nice clear pictures. At the end of the day I have to say for the price this lens is a nice piece of kit. I plan on using it exclusively until I know all it’s quirks and master it. On auto focus at 300m it is a little slow. However it’s nothing I can’t deal with. I’m including a few pictures taken with this lens. Keep in mind it’s been very overcast and dreary this time of year but still yielded nice results (IMHO) Hope you find this helpful.

I purchased this a while back.
It’s ok, not very useful in poor lighting but that’s sort of expected.
It is an entry level product, a pro len is extremely expensive.
I have not had a chance to use it since my purchase, and did not notice a defect.
It is now passed the amazon return date.
The defect is, that the image in the view finder is not in focus, although the picture taken is.
Effectively making it impossible to focus manually.
I guess I’m stuck with it know.

Sure this lens is pretty basic and the build quality isn’t superior, but as someone who has recently upgraded from a crop censor (EOS rebel T3i) to a full frame (6D Mark ii) and has to restart my lens collection, this $100 lens will certainly do for now.
The zooming isn’t as smooth as a more expensive lens would be, but that is to be expected.
Overall I’m pleased with this lens. It will work just fine until I’ve saved up enough for a pro level zoom/telephoto.

This lens was perfect for me. The zoom function is plenty for my needs and I was impressed with the price, (I bought it on sale). To get even a slighter better zoom, the price doubled but this lens is by no means a comprise, it is an excellent addition to my camera.

There is No Image Stabilization. This is the basic low end bare bones no guff about it lens. It focuses well enough but as all IS lacking lenses, should be kept safe on a stand, tripod or Platypod. The DC motor is noticable but given the age of this particular model (new regardless the series is old ) it is loud but proud. Keeping you mindful of low light conditions and even your heartbeat, this is excellent for stills, nature or otherwise. You CAN capture movement but I wouldn’t call this an enthusiasts pro break out tool.
If you are particularly brave you can slap a 1.4x expander on this modest device and give yourself some added oompf.
I would say that as a gift, it’s appreciated and should be used with forethought.
Lacking IS, weather resistance and USM, it is genuinely good for practice and stills.
Make sure you have invested in a nice tripod and take your time. Use a remote app to help you unlock some fun faraway shots.
It isn’t a bank breaker, but the savings translates to getting exactly what you paid for.
A no frills, no joke and no nonsense lens.
Goodluck and happy wandering!

I was eager to try this lens out when it arrived and I took a bunch of test shots right away. Image quality at maximum zoom is nice and crisp, the AF is pretty good, no complaints. I did some side by side shots switching out my Canon 55-250mm lens to check out the difference and this lens for sure gets tighter to the focus point. I’ll have to play some more to check out the image quality comparison. The lack of image stabilization is a downside, my cam will be on a tripod with this lens or set to a shutter speed that minimizes shake. Overall, it’s good value for the price in my opinion.

Good reasonably cheap 75-300mm I have found not having the Image Stabilisation has resulted in some unusable pictures, I need to learn to keep more stead when using it, but then this was £100 cheaper than one with IS. If you can afford the extra go for one with IS.

Wer hilft mir nun?

The photo I took has the Scotia Tower 2 km away with the 2 Lions in the backdrop western peak ( right side) 22 km away… Full Zoom. Vancouver Canada, West Broadway and Willow street area.
The Raw images are stunning I`m little shocked how clear as I was free hand using only a Joby Gorillapod tripod resting on my chest… The day is winter cold with icy winds so this adds to clarity but still :]

I am by no means a professional photographer. It is a hobby that I have started in the last few years. This is my first telescopic zoom lens and for the price I am actually blown away. The quality is amazing, it’s very easy to use and it’s perfect for the kinds of things I love taking pictures of (wildlife, etc.). Honestly I couldn’t be happier with how well it works and how great of a price it is.
