After years of working with a keyboard and mouse as part of my job, I began having pain going up my right arm from fingertips up to my shoulder. After about a week of using this mouse, the pain had almost completely disappeared. The mouse does a good job of keeping your arm and wrist in a more natural “handshake” position. Mouse seems well-built and the rechargeable battery lasts forever. Three connectivity options (unifying receiver, bluetooth, USB-C corded) provide flexibility. Logitech software/driver is also very configurable, including optional application-specific configurations.

I have almost 20 years of experience in CAD, and have been looking for an ergonomic mouse since day 1. So far, only this mouse works! I got two of them, one for office one for home. Try it if you always feel sore with a regular mouse like me. I am not saying it would fit everyone. You gotta try and tell.

I am really happy I found this mouse. No regret after 3 months of use.

I’m a software engineer and ignored wrist and forearm pain for almost a decade. Finally it got really bad so I had to take some steps to improve my condition. I purchased 5 vertical mouses, 1 of the more expensive ones and 4 cheaper ones, to see how they compare.

My conclusion is that you just can’t judge how a mouse will fit you from reviews. Even reviewers with small hands like mine, had opinions I wholly disagreed with. And I think it’s because people use the mouse in a variety of ways. For example, some people rest their hand entirely on their mouse while others use a “floating” hand. Some anchor their wrist and move their hand, while others anchor their elbow and move their forearm. Some have small hands; but, wrist pads and wrist braces raise the wrist, cancelling the problem of (or even overcompensating for) small hands.

Especially if you’re like me and rest the entire weight of your hand and also anchor your wrist, you’re not going to be happy with *any* vertical mouse *at first*, because your hand will feel like it’s sagging down the mouse, and when you try to unsag your hand the mouse will feel insecure because you’re unanchored your wrist. (This is where the cushion of a wrist brace helped immensely. After 2 weeks I was able to use the mouse even without the wrist brace. But man, did I hate all 5 mouses at first.)

Anyway, moral of the story: Bite the bullet and purchase a few mouses. $150 gets you 1 quality mouse and 1 or 2 cheaper ones.

    Here’s a wrist brace I love because it’s not plastic-stiff (no affiliation whatsoever): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072392YGD.

Here are the products I compared:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073B12MS6 (Jelly Comb) (Easiest to adapt to)
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RK96WF8 (VicTsing)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BIFNTMC (Anker) (Winner, for my g/f)
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFCVJZC (Lekvey)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FNJB8TT (Logitech MX) (Winner, for me)

    Miscellaenous:

    – There’s a reason I didn’t try the famous Evoluent VM4R. The updated model is getting flack for not living up to its predecessor, and its predecessor apparently hasn’t shipped a driver for Mac OSX Catalina, which is what I’m on.

    – The Anker and Lekvey have exactly the same chassis (and therefore size). The Anker is battery powered while the Levkey is charged. The VicTsing is slightly larger than those. The Jelly Comb is significantly smaller than any of them.

    – See photo attached for comparisons of things like click and scrollwheel feel.

I have been using a vertical mouse for almost 4 years now, mainly to deal with a very sore wrist that came from constant use of my computer and mouse. Unlike my old vertical mouse, this is wireless (bluetooth), which allows me to move back and forth between desks with ease. And, surprisingly, because it can link to multiple computers, I use it for three different computers, switching with ease. I also set up the Logitech software that allows the mouse to cut and past files between computers. Pretty neat, but I am not sure it is terrible useful yet.

    vantagens:

I bought this after working a 8 hrs desk job for 7 years. I recently have developed tennis elbow and need something to reduce my pain. This mouse definitely helped alot and the size is just right, FYI my hand width is 7 inch. Other than the back/forward buttons could be lowered a bit, everything’s all good.

I really wanted to like the Mx Vertical, I really wanted to. In the area of vertical mice, this one is the best looking by far. It feels comfortable in the hand, has a good size and feels premium. Having said that, this was supposed to aleviate tension when compared to a regular mouse and it does at first, but after some time the tension comes back and for some reason I feel it’s worse when using the this mouse. Also, the back and forward buttons don’t seem to be in an ideal position since I have to reposition my hand when I need to use them, it doesn’t feel organic.

Anyways, I love the MX Logitech line but I don’t think this one is worth the money. Might as well grab an Anker vertical mouse for $20.

UPDATE: Using this mouse on Windows continues to be fine, but on macOS there is a critical bug where the mouse’s scroll wheel features and thumb buttons completely stop working after some arbitrary amount of time (i.e. every few hours), and the Logi Options software no longer works.

According to discussion threads on the official Logitech forums, this problem has existed for at least 8 months and potentially longer, and has not been fixed in the meantime. This is a deal-breaker for Mac users as it means that the mouse is basically not fit for purpose without this serious inconvenience.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I have a job that sees me spending 12-16 hours in front of a computer pretty much every day. Over time, this has started to cause wrist issues for me. Previously I’d treated this with a wrist brace, but after another flare-up in soreness, I decided I needed to look into an ergonomic mouse.

First, the good: it works. While the first few hours were definitely pretty weird, within a day I was able to use the mouse at nearly full speed, and a bit over a week now, I’ve almost completely adapted and am just as quick and productive with it, to the point where my other other mouse (Logitech G403) sits there collecting dust. While my wrist and arm don’t feel completely back to normal, pretty much all pain and discomfort has gone away.

The product quality itself is top-notch. While it’s deceptively light for a mouse of this size, that makes it comfortable and easy to use. I have smaller hands, and while I would probably prefer a slightly smaller mouse, this one is still just fine for me. The mouse buttons have a very satisfying click action, the scroll wheel is great to use, and the tracking is accurate and without any obvious acceleration, lag, or other issues. Battery life probably won’t be as long as the claimed 4 months (mine is reading about 75% after 10 days), but honestly, even if I have to charge once every 1-2 months instead of every 4, that’s still fantastic performance.

As far as gaming performance goes, I haven’t done any intense sessions, and I’m not convinced it’d hold up as well there. In my experience, the tracking isn’t as good as my G403, nor is the responsiveness quite there. For fast-paced shooters or anything requiring a lot of precision, I would probably still elect to use a standard gaming mouse (which is why I still have my G403 connected), but for for slower-paced games, there’s no problems. Really though, given the target audience I don’t think CS:GO is the intended use case anyway.

The downloadable Logitech Options software is simple, but works fine. You have 2 levels of customizable sensitivity adjustment, and no specific DPI numbers to choose from. Would have preferred 3 levels and numbers being visible, but not a big deal. I haven’t put the “Flow” feature through its paces, but reports suggest it works well, so if you are interested in using the same mouse across multiple computers, that seems like a great value-add that will save you the cost of other software like Synergy. My only complaint is that there is no unifying software hub across all Logitech devices – gaming devices have G Hub, but non-gaming ones seem like they require separate installs.

While I know some people feel Logitech products are overpriced, I have had very good experiences in the past, both with the company’s overall product quality and durability, as well as support, software, and warranty process. In my mind, this more than justifies the price premium. At the same time, I’d be lying if I said that this specific mouse wasn’t a little expensive for what it is. It’s lacking buttons next to other similarly priced mice like the MX Master, and doesn’t have Logitech’s trademark “hyperscroll” wheel. There are also substantially cheaper options out there, like the Anker vertical mouse. The Anker one definitely doesn’t seem like it’s built as well and doesn’t have the same battery life, wireless performance, etc., but is the Logitech worth 4x as much? Eh…

Overall, I’m really glad I got this mouse. It’s comfortable, functional, looks great, has definitely reduced my wrist pain, and I have no doubt it will last and be well supported for the next several years. That’s something I’m willing to pay more for. But, yeah, $130 CAD list price is a lot to ask for a mouse, and feels like Logitech taking advantage of its market position just a little bit. If you are able to wait, I’d hold off for a sale before buying… especially if you can’t write it off as a business expense.

I have used this mouse for about a week now and I cannot believe the difference it has made in my shoulder and wrist fatigue. It took a few hours to get used to, but I would highly recommend this mouse. The added features are very nice and the ability to customize and go from one computer to another is really nice.

I am an adult female with extremely small hands. I am on the hunt for a new mouse that is both ergonomic and compact enough for me to hold – a difficult task indeed. This is a really nice mouse and 100% worth the $$ if it fits your hand. Unfortunately, it is just too big for me. The side of my palm cannot rest on the desk surface/wrist rest and still reach the buttons. I liked this enough to try to grip it a bit differently (higher) so that I could reach all the buttons but after a week, realized that was going to cause long-term pain. So, back this goes but for that reason alone. It is very nice, has a great non-slip texture, and very comfortable to hold. So sad there isn’t a smaller version of this but as with most such things, it’s a “one size fits all” that excludes those of us outside the 95% percentile.

I have been using (the same) Logitech mouse for the last 12 years. Started shopping for a new ergonomic mouse because of some wrist pain. I got a corded Contour Unimouse for the office (and love it) but wanted to get another mouse for home use and gave the MX Vertical a try. Online reviews were mixed so had to try one myself. The build feels very cheap, it’s really light and feels “hollow”, not a premium feel like the MX2. On top of that it just wasn’t doing enough for my wrist pain. I’d say pass on this one, if you want to go for a budget option try the Anker if not I’d recommend the Contour Unimouse.
