Lets see if i can do this without having my post kyboshed. I’ve made bread for over 40 years. The last two machines I had were T-fal Bread and Baguette machines. Both blew up after many many years of service, kneading dough isn’t easy. That’s why we buy these machines, but which one? $360.00 for a bread machine, plus extra warranty? I can buy others for a lot less but I didn’t, I bought this one. Truth is, if T-fal was still making a 3Lb. bread machine with two paddles I wouldn’t be writing this. Btw my baguette tray that makes 4 baguettes works in this one too. I’ve read some of the other negative reviews on this machine and honestly I don’t get it. First off, I only make bread. I have other machines to do whatever else this thing can do. I ALWAYS soak the inside baking pan with water only AFTER it has cooled down. A soft cloth and or a soft bristle kitchen scrubber is all I use, carefully cleaning around the two paddle seals especially. Bread crumbs get trapped there. No Toothpicks or any sharp objects. It’s a rubber seal and if you damage it will leak through. For that matter it eventually did with my t-fals also, after 10 years or so. This bread pan is insanely expensive from what I see. Back to, why this machine. If you can’t help yourself and want to make jam or cake or anything other than bread, then do yourself a favor and soak the pan in soapy water after, don’t scrub it clean. Once you scratch the pan it will start to stick.
I like that I can program it and make it do this my t-fal couldn’t. If you choose to do the factory set it and forget it method you might not like what it produces. I sure didn’t. Each and every bread machine is different. You would think I could just use the recipes from my other machines and all would work out. Nope guess again. I had to start all over. What gave me a kick start was Canadian Bread Machine Recipes. Look it up. From there I still needed to do some adjusting. It also was the deciding factor on this machine. I’ve had it for 4 months now and make an average of at least 2 loaves a week, there’s only two of us to feed. Its setup now and works as I expect it too. Is this machine for a novice? I don’t think so. It would disappoint as far as bread is concerned. Spending this kind of money just to make bread for me was the right decision, but only because I can decide what and how long it does what. I hope you find this review useful in buying or not buying this machine.

My sister has the exact same model – she loves it and makes bread and pizza dough every week. When I received the bread machine, I couldn’t wait to use it! I watched the DVD and followed the instructions exactly – the first loaf was lop sided the left side was large, the right side only a few inches. My next attempt was cinnamon raisin bread. The right paddle did not move until I opened to top, moved the dough and moved the paddle manually. Next, I checked the machine a few minutes later and there was no movement on the right side of the machine. I opened up the top, manually moved the dough, the paddle was IN the dough. I called customer service – they said the dough was too heavy. When I told them that I watched the DVD and followed the instructions, they said I should get a scale to be sure the flour was not more than 544 grams. REALLY????? So 4-1/4 cups of flour has different weights?? NO SATISFACTION FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this model machine in March of 2010 (8 years ago). I have used it everyday -often twice a day during the school year. I add the yeast to the water, then the rest of the ingredients as indicated in yeast dough recipes. I use the ‘quick’ bread setting. The bread is very consistently made. If there’s a failutre, it’s from mismeasuring or curious onlookers opening the machine during its cycle. My son’s friends are always asking for his “mom’s bread.” I’ve made meatloaf too using the settings suggested in the recipe book that came with it. I use organic oils such: as virgin coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or butter. I also use unbrominated flour. It’s the best machine I’ve owned for bread making. I’d give it more stars if it were possible.

I’ve had this bread maker for 6 years now and I use it every day. It took me a few times to find a recipe that cooks perfectly in the machine. Now that I found it, my bread comes out prefect every time. Before that, I did have bread come out funky or too big. It just takes finding the right recipe.
    1 & 1/3 cup water
    2T sugar
    2tea sp salt
(I swish the salt and sugar around to dissolve before I add the rest of the indigents. If I don’t the bread sometimes comes out uneven in size)
A little less than 1/3 cup of veg oil (I leave about 3mm of the measuring cup rim exposed)
Then I weigh out 4 cups of bread flour (4.5oz is a true cup of flour).
Make a well in the flour and add 2 tea sp bread machine yeast
I cook the bread on light setting for softest bread.
I put it on a timer to cook while we sleep and we wake up every morning to the smell of fresh baked bread. We love it! It takes me about 5 min to add ingredients. So worth it for fresh baked bread every day!

I really tried to do my homework on this one (thank you, all the reviewers!) I’m on my 3rd Breadman machine in 5 years and wanted something that could be repaired when the time came. I haven’t baked in the machine yet, I mostly use it for mixing and rise and then shape and bake the dough myself. My usual recipe for pizza crust came out so amazing! Even texture and terrific rise! Just great! If I had to complain (and we all do, don’t we??) I’d say a fruit and nut dispenser would really push this machine into the #1 category, and I’d like to have a button that I could just push to skip the preheating cycle. Our Canadian flour can have very different properties to it and I always monitor the “wetness” of my dough, but that’s quite difficult when the machine just sits there for an unspecified period of time. I am looking forward to many happy years with this unit!

The photo above is one of the best loaves of bread my wife made. After many attempts we just gave up.
After sending an inquiry to the company, they answered by saying many other customers have the same problem and for us to keep experimenting with the mixture formula. Well guess what, if the formula in your cookbook isn’t good enough then why should we keep wasting flour ingredients etc… We returned it thank you and purchased a much cheaper bread maker and all is fine. We bought an Oster 9050 from Amazon through our daughter.

This was purchased for my grandmother who has been using a bread machine for 25+ years. She likes this machine because it makes more of horizontal loaf instead of a vertical one like so many other machines on the market. Upon arrival the machine looked great, but when she started baking in it, it wasn’t working properly. She called support as it is a brand new machine under warranty and they have given her the complete runaround, first asking if she stores her flour in plastic or glass, in the freezer, fridge or room temperature. She was asked to purchase a 5 pound bag of flour instead of using the bulk bags she buys (she never buys store bought bread, she makes all kinds of bread cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, various breads all of the time! Why would she ever need a 5 lb bag?). They’ve also asked that she weigh her ingredients on a scale, she did, chill her water, she did, bake a white loaf (which she doesn’t eat) she did, all of the suggestions still yielding the same result. They have now sent her new paddles and upon baking that loaf it still isn’t cooking properly. Support is a nightmare. This has been going on for months and all she wants is what was paid for and expected upon purchase. Today she tells me she has to send the machine in so they can fix it and send it back still leaving her without a machine that works properly. I have been so disappointed with this company. It’s supposed to be a top dollar machine, but it hasn’t been and neither has support. Beware, if you spend the money, you might be put through the ringer for months with no real resolution. So very disappointed and sorry she’s having to go through this. I would never want this for anyone!

I’ve had this bread maker for almost 6 years now. It’s been fantastic. Other than the the fact that lcd screen no longer lights up a few cycles (makes it a bit tricky to select the right cycle now), it’s still functionally working great. We use it regularly, and mostly for whole wheat and rye bread, which are heavy doughs, and also doughs for cinnamon buns and pizza. After owning a few other brands of bread makers, I’m so glad I took the chance on the more expensive Zo machine. It’s paid off in the long run. My only other minor complaint is the plastic coating on the metal paddles seems to be gradually peeling off, so I may just peel all the rest of it off so it doesn’t end up in my bread. Love this machine though!

After 3 months the metal from the blade leaked into the bread dough. There was a huge silver streak it was scary as I usually make darker dough and may not have noticed. When I called the manufacturer they gave me a hard time. The machine was a waste of money.

    So here’s my rant.

It has the potential to be a great machine but it is SO inconsistent. This is one fickle unit. Not one of the recipes from the book worked. I am an experienced break maker and have used many other machines. I was very excited about this one. After wasting much time and ingredients, I learned that the book that came with the unit was not intended for Canadian flour. What? How do you sell something in Canada like this and not include recipes that will work? A few of my other recipes that I’ve used in other machines were ok… but again, sometimes the dough just didn’t mix. And yes, I followed the instructions to a T. Super frustrating. And the customer service was useless. Save your money people!
