    A PITA to install.

Vendor includes drivers and setup on a CD – who the heck has a CD drive any more. Drivers can be found on this page along with some YouTube installation instructions. Follow the YouTube videos to complete the installation.

    Using Speedtest.net – USB 2.0
Prior to installing the card my up speed (wired connection) was 25.6 Mbps and download speed was 61.6 Mbps.
Post installation up was almost the same at 25.2 Mbps but download speed increased to 83 Mbps

While the download speed increased it is hardly the 867 Mbps on the 5 GHZ band claimed by the vendor.

I decided to give this a 2-star because of the low price.

After about a half hour I retested the unit and download speed dropped to 40 Mbps even less than a wired connection.

As Dump would say send it back.

using on second floor, one floor directly above the wireless router. internet connection is gigabit (1000Mbps) shows 4 bars of signal strength consistantly. after first install of the driver… best speed 15Mbps. restarted computer. stick wasn’t recognized. pulled from USB 3.0 port. reinserted. seen, connected. speed test = 176Mbps. next morning. same thing. not automatically connected. pulled, reinserted, 17Mbps.. pulled… reinserted, auto connected, 176Mbps again. it’s only been here 24 hrs. I’ll be returning if this process is what’s needed to make it functional at all. plenty of hassle. thought tp link was quality. as advertised, should be easily able to obtain the highest speeds around 300-400Mbps connected to the our 5Ghz network.
edit : two days later. it never has auto connected since first installation. if the computer is shut down or simply goes to sleep, it’s necessary to remove the stick and reinsert it to get it to connect. being this is under a desk on the back of the tower, it’s greatly inconvenient. down on your hands and knees, slide out the tower. pull the stick, wait. insert the stick, wait, slide the tower back under the desk.
I went to the tplink website thinking perhaps it would be helpful for a current driver instead of the one that came on the disk. says I have the most current. so that’s not the issue.

The specs say 800 mbits on the 5Ghz band. I just barely get 275 one meter away from the TP-Link wireless router. My normal speed is 540Mbits.
But the biggest issue is the mini WiFi adapter does not reconnect after a computer restart.
Requiring a connect using the Windows Change Adapter settings to connect to WiFi.
    Not recommended for daily use.

This device disconnects from the internet (connect, no internet) randomly. Approximately 10~15 per evening. It gets extremely annoying and is very unstable.

I have gone through most of the computer settings to ensure that USB’s are to never power off, and have tried every USB slot as well as other computers and laptops.

The TP-Link support page, proved that this was a very common issue and the support is not helpful at all. I’ve had this device for a month and the issue has worsened.

I highly DO NOT recommend purchasing this device.

I have an office setup in the basement and my TP-Link Archer A9 router is directly above my office on main floor.. maybe 20 foot distance through hardwood floors. Machine is a Dell 5480 with Windows 10 Pro.

My router is reliable as-is. No interruptions but I wanted a stronger signal… if possible. Plus, I love gadgets. So I purchased this unit.

I wasn’t expecting a miracle, to be honest. Without the wifi adapter connected, I got 49mbps and through the adapter, I got 54mbps. Tried several times (5x, to be exact) with and without adapter connected.

Is the $24.00 worth the extra 5mbps? You be the judge ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I purchased this wireless USB adapter (Archer T3U AC1300) to replace another TP-Link wireless USB adapter (Archer T2UH AC600) given a recent upgrade in our internet service speed (upwards of 850Mbps download on a wired connection) through a TP-Link C9 AC1900 router. I was hoping that the new USB adapter would result in a faster wireless connection to another desktop computer. Alas, there was no improvement with the new T3U over the older T2UH wireless adapter – in fact sometimes the results weren’t quite as good. Perhaps this was due to the little antenna on the older adapter, which was suitable for a desktop computer but not so much for a laptop where a small size would be better. I spoke with technical support who once again provided thoughtful suggestions. I own a number of TP-Link products and have found tech support to be always willing to help. If this is the first USB wireless adapter you are buying, then this would be a great choice especially for use with a laptop with a USB 3.0 port.

My laptop only has 2.4gHz band and I needed something a bit faster. Got other TP-Link products so selected this although cheaper adaptors are available. Installed correctly but there is a missing piece of information in the setup process. If you have an existing WIFI adaptor installed you have to disable this and enable the TP-LINK USB Adaptor. In Windows 10 you have to go to Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network Connections , disconnect your existing Network Connection ( eg realtek xxx ) then DISABLE your existing connection ( probably called Wifi-1 ). You can then connect the TP-Link USB adadptor ( probably called WiFi-2 at this point) to your Router. Note original 2G.4 speed I was getting was 30mbps , after connecting to TP-Link USB 2.4G speed was 100mbps, after connecting to 5.0G speed has been varying between 290-700 mbps . Overall happy but install & setup process could be better explained.
