It does what it does: allowing a go pro 8 to record videos or take pictures above and below the water surface at the same time, which gives a cool effect in many occasions.
However, a few downsides worth noticing:
1) its leaking inside the dome. The dome is not sealed. After an extensive use it is frequent to have water drops inside the dome and there’s nothing you can do about it.
2) you need to aim the camera water surface in a VERY accurate way, which is not easy to do at the surface level. Otherwise the water surface will occupy easily one third of the screen, hiding the point of interest.
3) forget it if there are small waves, impossible to record with the dome effect. The water needs to be very calm to have a nice shot.
4) never face the sun in any way or you will have a significant and annoying sunflare effect due to the plastic dome. So you can shoot 180 degrees only or you need to worry about your positioning.
5) not made to shot anything else. The dome decrease the video quality in general.
6) pricey for what it allows you to do considering the many restrictions.
Conclusion: cool gadget, but not worth it.

The connection to the handle or any handle for that matter is very poor. It’s very hard to connect as the legs that you put the screw through are too thick which bends them outward and in time due to the plastic will break.
The dome is a cool feature and works well

Acquistato per la mia Gopro Hero 8. Indispensabile come accessorio per le foto ed i video in acqua. Solo con questo aggeggio si possono fare le foto ed i video metà in acqua e metà fuori. Funziona molto bene, unico cosa bisogna stare attenti che non appanni e di non graffiare la cupola. Infine altro piccolo problema sono le goccioline sulla cupola ( si risolve in parte applicando prodotto anti-acqua sulla cupola).
Viene fornito con un impugnatura galleggiante, utile da utilizzare anche con la sola gopro attaccata senza dome. Viene fornito copertura protettiva da viaggio per proteggere la cupola. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo.

I’ve used the Dome Port before with the GoPro Hero 7, so naturally I bought the one for my Hero 8 and this is a solid dome port. I gave it 4 stars because it does exactly what it is suppose to do and compared to some other domes on the market this has great value for money. I’ve used in salt water without issue. I recommend you make sure it is tighten well to prevent any leaks and using the anti fog strips to prevent any humidity or fogging up. The handle works as a floaty and can also be used with a waterproof case. The trigger handle can be a bit difficult use if you don’t have the handles lined up and screwed in really tight, and it also covers the back screen. So keep that in mind. I wish you were able to control your camera through the back screen, but overall very happy with this dome port. The one I had for the Hero 7 held up well for the two years I used it, so I expect this one to do the same. Will update my review if anything changes.

Used this dome extensively all year and can honestly say its been great and held up really well. Gopro hero 8 fits great and no leaking.
Helps getting those split shot but the real benigmfit is getting back that wide FOV you lose underwater.
It is resin instead of glass so gotta take care of it to avoid scratches but I put a microfiber towel in the case for added protection and its been fine.
The handle trigger is useless so i took it off.
