Skullcandy Sesh Evo True Wireless Earbuds, Bleached Blue (S2TVW-N743)

 It’s not for those with thick hands because the tip part on the video that you pinch the top to press so it wont go into your ear when you press wont work with thick hands just to ler you know. But so far for me as i am buying it, it’s better than the touch only ear buds i bought from skullcandy. I like that this isn’t like a touch pad and it actually submerges when you press it as it’s harder when its touchpad.

I have had some $20 wired Marley earbuds for the last 3 years. They work very well, but the wires get in the way of my movement of equipment.
I work in a healthcare job that doesn’t exactly “allow” headphones or earbuds, but with the current burn out numbers with the staff they have become pretty lax about letting staff do what they need to to relax on breaks. So, with my sob story out of the way- I thought it was time to move to the FUTURE and grab some wireless earbuds.

After shopping out a few options and getting recommended these by a friend I ended up here. The Skullcandy Sesh Evo. I grabbed a the “True Black (S2TVW-N896)” for a chunk of change. Specifically, I paid CDN$ 73.78. Not particularly cheap.

The left earbud stopped charging Aug. 31, 2021
The right earbud no longer charges either as of Sep. 9, 2021
I worked 36 days of 8 hour shifts in that time. With that simple math, my estimated use was around 288 hours mark.

Each earbud now holds less then five minutes of charge before the audible message of “Battery low” comes on before the “Power off” message a minute later.
Something I didn’t think to do is searching on Google or YouTube the phrase “How to fix Skullcandy Sesh” and seeing the multitude of videos and forum posts on just how problematic these $73.78 paper weights are. This is a EXTREMELY COMMON FAILURE. So common is this issue in fact that the friend who originally had recommended the Skullcandy Sesh Evo’s to me has ALSO lost charging in his LEFT earbud.

You can do the math above and see that I do no qualify for return to Amazon. So, heed my warning.
They will fail, look elsewhere. Avoid the Skullcandy brand, they have not changed from when you were in high school. Their prices has gone up, but the quality has not with that price point.

Oh also, the sound quality is tinny and lacks any sense of bass, but its wireless so eh no biggy. The Sesh Evo hurt a fair bit when I first got them. The buttons are quiet hard to get to click down so you end up pushing them pretty hard INTO your ear to get it to pause/play and that can be pretty uncomfortable.
As well, there isn’t any noise cancellation. Like, they don’t advertise it as having it so I am not sure why I am able to rate it based on that.

Longer battery life, can use either bud by itself- a REAL UPGRADE!
Arrived charged up and ready to go- nice surprise.
Paired right away
Has longer battery life- will update review once I get some real-life battery use and times
CAN USE either bud by itself- I listen mostly to podcasts, this is awesome!
Seals out ambient noise well,( I use with weed wacker) with the supplied ear seals
Has “EQ” modes easily accessed
Better than other units which cost 3 times more!

The exchanged unit is working well after 4 weeks- 4 star rating, will update if these continue to provide good results..or bad!

+++++++++ Buds left in the charging case may turn on and run down the battery, then recharge…depleting the charging case in a 1/2 day- this may also cause audio problem as the BT interrupts wired headphone use
Once charged, remove from case and manually turn off until needed- update…buds turned OFF and sitting on the table have turned on and attempted to pair- running down the battery- it has also happened that buds torned OFF have turned on interrupting iphone audio through wired buds- have to remember to turn iphone bluetooth off.
– if using 1 bud while the other is charging, the bud on the charger may cycle on and off and that may cause your connection to drop and reconnect ( audio intermittent) with the bud in your ear OR with wired earbuds!

I think this and charge case issues may be the reason why these have limited availability at amazon or skullcandy website- watch for a version 2 ….!?

Update 5: after about 5 or 6 weeks the battery life is declining- the left seems to be about 4 hours, the right is about 2 hours use… they were closer to 5 hours when new
Update 6: battery life is reduced- this could be associated with the above buds turning themselves on

the bluetooth has been quite good —when it works— with range of 50′ not unusual

Update 7: buds, FULLY charged and manually turned off and left for 48 hours- on power up showed 1/2 strength and turned off after 2 hours
These buds have great audio and bluetooth- the power/battery management in a mess.
I will be returning this set ( third set)

I hate these things and wish on the regular I had returned them. Sound- meh, connectivity- glitchy, will they connect to all of your devices? No. Not even detectable. I have cheaper earpieces that work better than these. They cut out all the time in the one device I have that will connect to them , my iPhone. They aren’t very loud and music is missing a lot. I wish I had not been cheap about it and spent the cash for something better.

The only thing they are decent at is phone calls. I will give them that. But that’s it. I hate them.

Creo que al comprar un producto de esta marca esperas recibir algo de calidad y que funcione perfectamente, en mi caso no fue así, ya que al recibir el envió me decidí a probarlos y lo único que ocurrió es que quede muy decepcionado de mi compra, porque al conectarlos a mi celular me di cuenta de que los audífonos no se emparejaban entre sí, lo que ocasionaba que solo se escuchara de un solo lado, cabe mencionar que los probé en tres celulares y una laptop. Revisé en internet y me encontré con que esta falla es muy común con este modelo, pues varios compradores habían presentado el mismo desperfecto, quiero mencionar que en la propia página de internet del fabricante hay un manual que supuestamente ayuda a resolver este problema, el cual claro no funciono.

Intenté realizar efectiva la garantía en México porque está más que claro que este defecto viene de fábrica y ellos lo saben perfectamente, desafortunadamente con lo único que me encontré fue con una mala atención y trabas para poder hacerlo, ya que me comentaron que al tratarse de un producto que se importó de Estados Unidos, yo tendría que cubrí el 65% del costo de la reparación o en su defecto de la sustitución del producto, a lo que respondí que eso era absurdo puesto que solo tenía un día con el artículo y por ende tenia garantía vigente, pero su única respuesta fue decirme que me comunica con Skullcandy de Estados Unidos para que ellos me lo solucionaran, porque ellos no podían hacer nada al respecto, ahora solo me queda solicitar la devolución y esperar que me devuelvan mi dinero.

Por lo cual los invito a pensarlo muy bien antes de comparar este producto.

I lost the left one a few days after purchase (built in tile tracker) i figured out where it was, and then realized it went through the heavy wash cycle in my washing machine after I failed to check my pockets….twice! Anyway, the headphones still work perfectly and these are truly me proof and I am so happy with my purchase!!!! I would highly recommend.

The charger sucks and half the time my left bud isn’t connecting or charging despite my efforts to make sure it’s in there right. Plus the sound doesn’t sync properly. When I use it with Yousician, a guitar teaching app, the music is WAY off beat. Definitely expected more from the price.
