Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). when i go to Sabrent web site, the HB-UMP3 does not exist on it’s web site. i’ve made a communications ticket with it, and the model came up with IT but not with support downloads.
I’m unsure if this hub works as fast as a regular 3.0 usb port. I have already returned an external drive from Seagate of 6TB because it would not read a huge portion of pictures from one hard drive to another. i’m now concerned this is an issue with the Hub i purchased from Sabrent. I’ll update this if it’s not. otherwise, stay clear of this product because Sabrent has already dropped this products tech support.

I bought this POWER USB HUB just to power my wired keyboard, mouse, and USB thumb drive, and it fails even at that. I can’t imagine trying this to power an external hard drive, which it should be capable of doing if it works. It powers my keyboard and mouse for a few minutes after starting up then it completely shuts off my devices. I am returning this back to Amazon. This is the second USB hub that I’ve tried, needless to say, the search continues.

For most people, this will be perfectly decent. BUT, if you’re going to use this on a Raspberry Pi (Pi 4 in my case), be warned that it exhibits the back-power issue whereby if you reboot the Pi, it won’t boot up again until you either remove the power adapter from the hub, or unplug it from the Pi.
Sadly as that is my main purpose for it, I’ve had to return it.
Pros:
– good quality
– individual switch per port is handy
– separate (included) PSU is great for stability and performance
Cons:
– exhibits back-power issue with Raspberry Pi

Good solid aluminium construction, powerful supply of 90W meaning a few external hard drives can be connected at the same time without problems.
Only bought this because it was 90W, didn’t need all 16 slots at once, but over time I found that 2 of the slots kept disconnecting with flash drives.
Too late to return it by the time I found the problem, so just marked them as unusable. Bit concerning at this price level.
Just check each port with an external HDD drive as soon as you buy it, just to be sure.
I’m still happy with, just not delighted.

I love this little hub, I have 2 different VR headsets, I have them plugged into this little hub, when not using VR, I can easily turn off the headsets by just hitting the power button for the USB port it’s plugged into, makes it easier and less wear and tear on your computer and VR headset’s USB connectors! 🙂

I bought It to be able to plug my webcam and my keyboard on a kvm switch
I choose this model because of the external power adapter. Sadly, it isn’t feeding enought power for a keyboard and a webcam….
I found an old usb2 model in my drawer that is compatible with the power adapter and now it works flawlessly.
So if you doesn’t need a hub with a power adapter
This junk is for you…
And if you need a power adapter for another hub, this junk is for you…
If you a looking for à good quality usb hub… Sadly it is not the good product for you
It will only works whit usb key and cards reader
I’m kind of disapointed…
PS: when you look at the buttons, they all have dfferent height . They do works, but it look cheap

This thing works, but the glowing lights aren’t the most effective. Sometimes I have to cup my hand over them to see which button is actually illuminated (and therefore live). I plugged the AC adapter into a plug hoping that would speed up charging of phones and transfer of data to external drives, but I haven’t noticed much if any improvement, which is surprising. Having said that, it does both of those tasks better than expected even when not plugged in, so I’m not sure what plugging it in actually does.

I have a home PC which I own, and a laptop that belongs to work. This used to consist of two mice, two keyboards, one HDMI switch, one SVGA switch. This meant a lot of wires and clutter on my desktop.
So I figured that if I connected everything to a powered USB hub, I could keep just one keyboard etc and simply move the one USB plug. Advantages of USB 3.0 connectivity and the number of ports, along with the 90Watt PSU attracted me to this unit.
It is well made, has a power supply similar to the laptop PSU’s and included a bracket mounting plate which was a welcome accessory.
The unit is plug and play and those with limited tech experience should not fear installation, on Windows 10 it was up and running immediately.
I decided to replace my SVGA interface with the second monitor with a USB 3.0 to HDMI adaptor but were prepared to connect this directly, but the speed of this hub is well capable of handling graphics data along with other high data rate USB peripherals.
I never thought of the extra charging capabilities for mobile phones, iPad etc, which also was a welcomed bonus charging all Apple products very well.
The port on/off switches are the greatest feature, I can simply switch off any port with a prod of a finger, which sorts any webcam incidents first thing on a morning.
I am now a loyal Sabrent fan. Well done guys.

Currently out of stock but if this ever does return to the market do NOT purchase is you are in the UK. The power adaptor provided came with a US plug not a UK plug. If I could figure out how to contact the seller I would ask them to send me the appropriate adaptor but this seems tough to do.
If you want to purchase one of these buy the one without the adaptor and purchase a separate power supply with 5V output and a 3.5mm jack.
In addition, I can find no CE marking on the power supply. My understanding is that this is a legal requirement for sale within EU (and for the moment the UK).

Bought this for my Razer keyboard, mouse, and keyboard/mouse led pad and wow it works amazing and the LED lighting gives my desk chill vibes too! The quality of it is nice too and doesn’t feel super cheap! I bought this almost a year ago and I meant to do a review sooner (mainly cause I forgot) but so far it works amazing and I use it almost everyday and haven’t had an issue with it!
The AC adaptor helps power the keyboard and mouse and the pad so that it’s not drawing all the power to use/light up all of it directly from my computer!
The ability to turn on or off the specific USB port is a great design too and the light turns off so you know it’s not powering that specific USB port.
Overall for the price and functionality of the 4 USB hub, it works amazing and I would highly recommend it!!

The price is right, but it doesn’t support USB 3.0 transfer speeds. When I plug a USB hard drive in (no other devices) I get 1/3 the transfer speed compared to directly connecting the hard drive.
Update: I tested some more and determined that I can get the full transfer speed to the USB hard drive from all ports except one (the one closest to the cable).

Used with HP Laptop that has only 2 USB ports ! Great extension and works well with USB peripherals including Webcam (that has a led light included), printer, mouse/keyboard, Headset. I use one port to charge my iPhone and works well and charge as if it was connected to the laptop. on/off switch is very useful per port especially to disconnect webcam when not in used to prevent privacy issue.

Great hub. Loads of ports. Rather than having a tangle of cables at the back of my PC, I’ve got 14 devices plugged into this hub, then a single cable to the back of the PC.
Things to watch out for
– power, only 5watts per port
– there are restrictions about the number of USB endpoints you can have per USB controller. Each USB device has a number of USB endpoints e.g. a USB soundcard might have an allocation of 5 end points. An Intel PC will have a limit of something like 96 per controller, so you may not be able to have everything plugged in and on-line. USB Device Tree Viewer 3.7.3.1 by http://www.uwe-siber.de has an option to show the number of endpoints in use which is a great utility.
– power management. A normal active hub will have the capability of turning off the ports when the PC powers off. I have an Amazon Basics hub that does just that – turn off the PC and my USB devices connected to it also power off. With a “charging port” such as the 16 on this hub, you can power each individual port off manually using the button, but the hub does not respond the the PC being turned off in any way – the ports remain on to charge any devices attached. This obviously has advantages and disadvanges. In my case, I plugged the Sabrent hub into a tp-link Tapo plug so I can turn the thing off completely.
Sturdy construction on the main unit, a wall mounting bracket, and a good power supply.
Recommended.
