Overall these headphones are good for gaming. The sound quality is perfectly fine for video games and good for music, however I prefer my AirPods or computer speakers way more. The only reason I bought these is because you can’t use AirPods mic on Windows 10 and I wanted to be able to talk in game. So for using them for gaming it’s perfectly fine, but if you’re an audiophile or just want some really good headphones with a mic I would suggest maybe spending a bit more, or getting a nice pair of headphones and separate mic for your PC. I find that some songs sound really good with this headset, while others sound a little off. Also the 7.1 surround sound is a cool feature, but the difference between the simulated/virtual surround sound in this headset and true surround sound is night and day, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high for the virtual 7.1 feature, I used it for a bit in Modern Warfare and didn’t really like it so I turned it off. That being said, for the price it’s not bad and I wouldn’t expect much more than what I got. Overall I’m okay with them.

    Pros:
    – Long cable
    – They’re comfortable (On my old Beats Solo’s that are on-ear they start to get uncomfortable/hurt after a couple hours, but these are over-ear and I’ve worn them for multiple hours without getting uncomfortable.)
    – Comes with a cable splitter/adapter (Turns the single 3.5 jack into two separate mic and headphone jacks)
    – Retractable and flexible microphone
    – In-line controls on the cable (It has a mute switch and a volume knob)
    – Virtual 7.1 surround sound

    Cons:
    – Sound quality (Like I said, it sounds perfectly fine for games, but I find some songs and videos/movies sound a little off, but I guess it’s all personal preference and depends what you’re watching/listening to. I find in some songs the bass is good but the highs are muddy, and other songs the highs and mids are fine but the bass isn’t all there while the same songs sound fine on my PC speakers. But that’s not all songs, most songs sound perfectly fine to me.)
    – Virtual 7.1 surround sound (I put this in pros and cons because it’s a cool feature and I’m glad they added it, but like I said sometimes it doesn’t sound great and I personally never use it, but some people will enjoy it.)

Overall I’d say they’re worth it if you’re using them for gaming, and they’re not bad for watching YouTube, Netflix, or listening to music.

Also, I learned this the hard way. If you’re on Windows 10 and the mic isn’t working go into Settings>Privacy>Microphone and make sure the “Allow apps to access your microphone” setting is enabled. I had it disabled and the mic wasn’t working. I reinstalled drivers, restarted my PC, plugged the headphone into different jacks, searched Google for answers, watched YouTube videos. I was getting so mad I thought I got a pair with a broken microphone. Took me 2 hours to realize all I had to do was enable that one setting lol.

The headset is comparable to that of a $40 headset without the surround sound softeare active. When you order this headset you’re supposed to receive an activation code with it to activate the surround sound software on your PC. I did not receive this code. I registered my product at Razer.com because I was told by Razer support that their system would generate a could and would email it to me within 24 hours. I waited 48 hours and did not receive the code. I contacted support again and they told me that I would ve contacted by a special support team within 24 hours that would give me a code to activate the software. It’s been 48 hours and I still have not been contacted by anyone. The only good thing about this headset for me right now is that it’s comfortable. That’s it. Without the surround sound software it’s not good at all.

UPDATE: I finally after many attempts with their support was able to get the code for the surround sound software. The headset is noticeably better and is a much more enjoyable experience overall. The retractable mic is also a nice option so that it doesn’t get in the way when I’m not using it. The headsets are comfortable even after long gaming sessions. For the price they are good headsets. The surround sound software makes a difference and is a must in my opinion.

I bought this for the noise cancelling microphone, since me and my husband share an office during the day. It does not work – in fact, it’s worse than the cheap ones my work has provided which make no pretence of noise cancelling at all. It doesn’t do a good job of insulating you against outside noise either, I can clearly hear everything around me at the same time I am having conference calls. I also don’t like the gel inside the earpiece, it makes me feel like my skin is sweating under the foam.

About the only thing I do like is that you can mute the headset on the cord easily, and if you turn your music up loud enough it doesn’t sound half bad. I do wish I had bought a different set though.

I always thought Razer prices are way too much when compared to its fellow competitors. But one of my friends suggested me to buy this headset.
The moment the headset came to the home I was in love with it. The way it looks and the way razer has put so many details into it….like when adjusting headband I could see numbers which I don’t think many headsets have …it might be just unuseful but I could feel the effort the razer has put into it.
the mic quality is pretty good … but it still has to improve a lot but it’s way good for this budget.
I personally didn’t feel the advertised cooling cushions but I used it at a stretch for 15 hours and never felt the weight of the headphone on my ears.
Finally when I was using Logitech g933 and while drinking water with the headset over my ears, the headset slips away but razer sticks pretty well…
if anyone is looking to buy nice headset with mic …..just go ahead ….worth every buck spent
The only thing I would want to see from razer is a limited edition panda version of the headset.

    Kitty version:
Purchased this for my Xbox and PS4 as it was supposed to be compatible with both. (several customer answers stated it was) but it has a USB plug not an audio jack.
    INCREDIBLY disappointed.
Reviews said it came with an adapter but is apparently not accurate for the kitty version.
Does NOT work with an adapter (I tried).

Would suggest the seller keeps the diffent versions of this headset on separate listings so the questions and answers don’t get muddled in together.

As someone who has issues with headphones wearing my glasses, these are hands down amazing! I do not feel any sort of pressure on the sides of my head. I can wear them for hours and my ears don’t get sore. The sound is amazing. The speakers are great. When I’m speaking to someone they can’t hear any ambient background noise, just my voice, even when I’m typing on my mechanical keyboard! I’m so happy with my purchase!! My only issue I had is that I purchased an open box but it was missing the mic/audio splitter, so that was a little disappointing. However, I reached out to amazon and they were very quick to help me in any way they could!

I decided to get this Kraken headset after getting really tired of using a crappy old turtle beach from my previous Xbox for my PC/Hackintosh. They felt like they cracked the top of my skull open after 2-3hrs of use and my ears were sore. I also wanted a headset with a mic integrated for Zoom and for gaming, rather than using a headset AND the Blue Snowball at the same time, even though the acoustics are amazing on the Snowball.

My thoughts on the Kraken: Is it worth the hype?

I can confirm that this headset DOES live up to the hype and it’s not just a brand that ships out crappy equipment for high prices. I can’t say the same for some of their other headsets, which have terrible reviews. However, this headset is comfy and functional. Especially Amazon sells it for less than their MSRP, it’s a steal.

    Pros:
-Their earmuff cooling technology actual feels legit…
-The top of the headset doesn’t crack your skull
-The mic is retractable, which I LOVE
-The packaging gives a great first impression
-Includes an extension cable with dedicated mic and audio jack, a nice touch for large desks like mine
-Can wear easily for hours on end

    Cons:
-The lower volume range with the volume dial, located on the audio cable, absoluley sucks. Not sure if this is just my unit, but as you use the integrated volume dial to go from high to low volume, you’ll notice the balance between left and right just randomly shifts. This is surely annoying while gaming to adjust the volume. If you have this issue, I suggest turning the volume all the way to high, then use your keyboard to adjust the volume on the OS side, rather than the hardware side
-The mic is a little finicky with MacOS on my Hackintosh, not sure why but I’ll keep working with it.
-The ears are a little bigger than I imagined, but I feel like this may end up saving my ears throughout its life.
-I wish the cable came with an integrated voice-chat/game volume balance feature, similar to Turtle Beach on Xbox. I understand the tournament edition includes this, but not sure if that is worth the $40 premium. A redesign of that stupid USB unit with the tournament edition would make this headset the best, hands down, headset on the market for $60-100.

    Summary:

Both pros and cons considered–I love this headset. Of course, it has some flaws, like all things in technology do. Over the next few generations of this headset, I’m sure Razer will introduce some killer features to dominate the gaming market. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a headset that’s comfortable, functional, stylish, and inexpensive. With the features included in this headset, there’s nothing better out there that $60-70 can buy.
