This is the 5th fat separator I have ever used and is the best. Very thoughtful design, when pouring with a full jar, the fat won’t spill from top, which most of the flat top design will do.

E’ il secondo che compro, questo da un litro anziché mezzo litro, ed è un prodotto che quando vuoi sgrassare al volo sughi o brodi caldi fa davvero la differenza. Rispetto a quello che avevo comprato, è costato 4 volte tanto, ma più che altro perché al tempo l’avevo trovato ad un prezzo affare.
Questo da litro finirà in casa della suocera, dato che per le feste capita più spesso di dover sgrassare grosse dosi. Per la famiglia e l’ordinarietà, troviamo quello da 500ml più pratico (è più stretto essendo a base ellittica anziché circolare)

Exactly what I was looking for. I almost bought the 2 cup one but changed my mind and bought this 4 cup one which is a much better size. I do wish it was made of glass instead of plastic but it is what it is and it works to separate the fat from the gravy. The red stopper is handy as it keeps the gravy from overflowing out of the spout as you fill up the measuring cup . The strainer lid on top is a good idea if you like your gravy free of bits and pieces of meat, onions, etc. The spout is the hardest part to clean, but I bought a set of WALFOS Straw Cleaner – Strong Coarse Tube Bristles Cleaning Brush – Set of 9 Pieces ( also available on Amazon ) and they work great for cleaning the spout. This is a great product by OXO, worth the money. I would buy this again and recomend it.

This product solves the 2 main problems of a 1-part cup with a pour-off tube at the bottom: 1) inserting the pour-off tube plug prevents any fat from entering the pour-off tube when you first pour in the fat-gravy mixture, and 2) a coarse filter fitted to the top of the cup catches chunks that could clog the pour-off tube before all the gravy is poured off. The silicone plug fits in a storage hole in the filter to prevent it getting lost during dishwashing and storage. Good design!

I love that this separator has a strainer on top. I’ve even used it to strain broth, very helpful to remove a bit of the oil. Great that it can go in the dishwasher too. The only thing that’s a bit tricky is keeping the spout clean. I find after I clean it sometimes it will still have oily residue inside. If you have some sort of cleaning brush that will get down in there it would be best.

Bei uns werden sehr oft Fonds und Suppen aus frischen Zutaten gekocht. Das ist gesund und schmeckt prima.
Früher war es aber immer recht mühsam, mit einer kleinen Kelle oder Löffel das unverdauliche bzw. überschüssige Fett abzuschöpfen. Mit dieser Unterdruck-Kanne gelingt es perfekt. Das nicht ganz billige Kännchen ist aus unserer Küche nicht mehr wegzudenken. Achtung: nicht fallen lassen. Es ist recht zerbrechlich. Das jetzige ist schon unser Zweites.

Cuando preparo un caldo donde hay bastante grasa, se decanta muy fácilmente,despues puedes obtener el caldo por un lado y la grasa se queda en el recipiente. Tiene medidor.

This device is a must have for degreasing gravies and sauces, such as after braising a pot roast or roasting a turkey. In the old days, we had to degrease the sauces with a spoon by skimming off the floating fat; it’s a time consuming project. With a degreasing pitcher it’s all easy because the spout is on the bottom of the container.

Why have I not had one of these before? Saves all the skimming…not a hard task, but takes up time better spent eating! I love it.
