My only beef is when paused I cannot to frame by frame in reverse….only in forward.
I don’t know why they do this. My old Phillips DVD player allowed me to pause and proceed frame by frame in forward and reverse. When I hit reverse with the Megatek player it reverses as 2x the normal speed or faster depending on the number of times I hit the button…..which is fine…..but it still needs a reverse frame by frame and reverse slow motion function.
Most people won’t care about that anyway, so if you are in the market this unit is great for the price.
If you want to load media onto a USB Memstick make sure it’s FAT 32 formatted (most are from the factory by the way). Also use an MPEG format. I use MPEG2 compression codec 720 x 480 and the highest kbps possible because the quality is nice and I don’t have an MPEG4 codec. Videos play smooth and perfect. DVD player works great too., Set up is easy.

I set up an out-of-use (HDMI-capable) TV in my exercise room and wanted a DVD player to go with it. I figured I would buy this one for my main TV and move my cheapie DVD player from there to this new setup. But the feature that allows DVDs to be played where you left off was attractive. I don’t finish a DVD before I finish exercising, so I decided to use this player in the exercise room. BTW, that feature works well and is VERY handy. The picture is good as is the audio. I also was able to play an out-of-zone DVD with no trouble. For the price asked, it seems good value for all the features. I haven’t linked the TV and DVD remotes so can’t say about the ease of this. But it all setup easily, except…

[UPDATE Aug 23, 2020: Even though my old cheapie player still works, it does not have HDMI, upscaling, multi-zone, or last play memory, so I bought a second one of these Megatek players for my main TV setup. The one described below with the 4:3 problem is hooked up to an inexpensive Insignia TV. I now have more experience playing the other one, which is hooked up to an expensive and more recent LG OLED TV. With this setup, I CAN get 4:3 playback using HDMI. I have to go into the LG’s setup menu and select 4:3, but it all works. BTW, the picture does look good (relatively speaking since this is older material I’m looking at). So as I suspected, it seems that the TV in use DOES come into play regarding 4:3 playback using HDMI. The catch seems to be not with this DVD player, but the TV in use with it. It is impossible to know what the situation will be with your TV’s interaction with this DVD player until you try it. I never had this problem with my old player and the Insignia TV because I could only use component. When I swapped in this Megatek player I assumed the problem previously described below was with the player. My apologies to Megatek. I’ll go 5 stars.]

Many of the DVDs I play on this set are of older material. Specifically, they are in 4:3 (old TV) format. I have found that if you only hook up HDMI and play back using HDMI, the 4:3 source material will be stretched left and right. Personally, I do not like this effect. I have thoroughly gone through the setup menus of both this player and my TV and cannot override this. The workaround is to hook the DVD player to the TV with component cables. (Possibly the single-cable ‘Video’ output/input would work, too, but that really is poor quality, even for this older material.)

When you insert a 4:3 DVD you can go to SETUP > GENERAL > TV DISPLAY >and set to 16:9, and this should now display 4:3 format discs in the center of the screen (i.e. no stretching). But, this only works with component cabling, not HDMI. (If you do use component cabling, make sure to go SETUP > VIDEO > COMPONENT > and set to YUV, or you will get nothing through those component cables.) It is possible that your TV will display 4:3 normally (depending on the TV and the settings).

Component cabling doesn’t allow for the same video quality as HDMI. But source material old enough to be in 4:3 is likely to NOT be in high-def. So, this isn’t a big problem. And you can still hook up using HDMI cable as well, and toggle back and forth with your TV remote. It isn’t an elegant solution, but works well enough. Luckily I still had some decent quality video and audio cables to do this extra hookup.

I am really Happy about this purchase, I am watching one of my favourite French movie (region 2 pal) “la tulipe noire” 1964 , on my system. I am on the pacific coast. So far so good. the delivery was fast and the box wasn’t damaged. I really like the small size of the DVD player, the remote is light and basic, just what I needed. Thank you for making my life a little better.

UPDATE 10/18/20 sadly the DVD player died , I hadn’t used it in 3 months, when I wanted to watch a movie today and the unit didn’t turn on no matter what I did. ( I used it 5 times in 3 months)
I will be investing in another reliable brand. So long Mediatek.

I was really happy with this DVD player at first – easy to set up, good picture quality.

Then, all of the sudden, it keeps going from “ON” to “LOAD” and won’t respond to any buttons. My DVD is now stuck in the unit and it won’t play. Utter garbage.

I wanted to view a few tv series that were only available in Region 2 PAL version. Not to mention other DVDs I bought that would have been less expensive in this format. This little player solved these issues perfectly! As well as arriving a day early, it truly was plug and play; no setup required. I have not bothered to synch the remote to either of my TVs yet, which would be useful but not required. This DVD unit has already paid for itself with the savings on one set of DVDs and I can now watch the others I have, not available in NTSC.
    👍👍

Very happy with this DVD player. The multi-region feature works flawlessly. Image is excellent on my HD 50 inches flat screen tv. Can’t judge yet about the dvd player reliability over time, but so far so good!

This is a GREAT little player! Perfect size, super easy to set up. Love that is has the “memory” to pick up where the dvd was playing when the machine was shut off! I bought 2 of these based on prior reviews! The price can’t be beat! One of the players I purchased is used every day, and is still going strong after several months, the other one is used occasionally, by my daughter in her college housing. I highly recommend this item!!

Holy crap what a difference!! Same old DVD, but looks like Blu-ray!

I’ve always had name brand electronics, but lately they are not good and I decided I’m only paying for the name.

I have this one a chance because the ratings were so good, but I was very skeptical. No need.

Simple basic DVD player, exactly what I wanted. This is a very basic DVD player, the only feature I wanted was for the player to have a light of some kind on the front so I could tell if it was on or off. Which is surprisingly hard to find, who knew? Well this player has the light. It has a good quality picture, the remote is easy to use, and overall was easy to install and operate. I would definitely recommend and purchase this product again.

My son asked for a new DVD player for Christmas, one that was region free and allowed him to play his foreign discs. I did some research and found this one, which is region free right our of the box. He was thrilled with it. He took it home and set it up with no problems at all. He is very happy and I came off as a genius mom!!!

Cheap brand, put with my horrible experiences with name brand players, this no-name brand takes top honors. Works well in a commercial training room with lots of playback so far. Very impressed.

Better than those units that only function with a remote. You can access main functions with buttons on this machine or use the remote. I like having that choice (esp when I lose the remote). All metal, quiet. Works with all regions. No need to spend more.

Update: I can also add after a couple of months that It still works well and this company has excellent customer communication & service.

purchased 2 of these one in march 2020 and one in may 2020
both have failed after two or three times use ( found that they both have defective capacitor in power supply, cheaper to buy 2 capacitors at a couple of bucks each than to figure out where to send these units , as the gal from amazon couldn’t help me there but i must say was very polite and tried her best
amazon should not be selling these unless they can back up the warranty
i think a 10.00 voucher or coupon does’nt cut it
