Do not buy this.
It sounds good in principle but it cannot handle temperatures higher than 250 degrees C, it is too large for small prices of meat, ie kebabs, small steaks etc and mine stopped working after approx 5 mths.
I have another remote gauge and I have to say it’s cheaper, more flexible and so far reliable.
Oh, and I contacted support 4 weeks ago and have not had a reply. Getting the email address on their site is also difficult.

First impression is that it looks great, they did a great job on the design. The app is awesome also, a must have for every food geek like me. But it ends there…
My first cook was amazing, temp probes, spot on ! The meet was just perfect, I was flabbergasted !
Second cook was like….WTF is going on. Temps for both probes where way off, like 14 degrees off. Ok, maybe my oven was having a bad day so I adjusted my oven…Bad idea, meat was overcooked.
I tried a third time but this time using my Anova Sous Vide, I know that the temp sensors on the Anova are just great. Same thing, Meater probes not doing a great job as you can see in my picture. I googled a bit and you cannot reset the probes so you are kinda stuck with a 180$ metal toothpick, SMH.
I tried to contact support 1 week ago and no response yet, c’mon.
I am not the only one with this problem so I don’t think it’s a fluke, the product is just not ready. I just cant recommend this thing, unless you want a 180$ toothpick, be my guest.

I will be returning this after I complete this review. This thing has been a nightmare since I purchased — its actually sat in a drawer for months as I gave up on it. This morning I decided to do a pork shoulder and give it another shot — getting a connection, keeping it connected and the range is brutal. Even for the 30 mins at a time its actually working it continually locks up and you get the message “Connection Lost”.
update from vendor: They claim that if I am using a smoker the range could be reduced to 10ft or less — why advertise 165ft!!!!

This product works well – but unfortunately it has been manufactured and designed poorly.
The top of the probe (the black bit) joins the main stem and is glued in (not screwed via a fine thread – glued).
Therefore when this product gets hot (which amazingly it will do) the glue that keeps the top section stuck to the stem becomes malleable and the top comes away from the stem – allowing any dirt, fat, water etc into the unit.
Why – really just why would you use a compound that is susceptible to heat in a product that gets hot like this.
Secondly, the returns process is like something out of the olden days…
1) You have to write to the Customer Service team via email
2) You then go through the problem and submit details
3) They send you a form which you have to print out and fill in with all the details you’ve just provided to them
4) They book a courier (no they can’t provide prepaid returns labels….) and you wait for them in the morning or afternoon etc
5) The courier doesn’t turn up
6) The courier randomly turns up at a different time and date
You wonder if you will ever get a replacement. Useless system.
Why not:
1) Send another item immediately to the customer and pre-charge their card if they agree
2) Send a prepaid label for the return to the customer
3) Receive faulty unit back and cancel prepaid charge
It’s easy. What is wrong with these companies. They are founded by seemingly intelligent, creative and industrious people – who don’t seem to have a clue how to operate in the real world.
Unbelievable.

The MEATER + is awesome! The first time I used it I cooked a $100 rib roast for my Mother-in-Law , Sister-in-Law, Wife and two close friends. No pressure! Did a reverse sear cook and the MEATER + worked flawlessly. Put the roast on. Got the BBQ temp where I wanted it, with the help of the MEATER +. Voila! Spent the next 2 1/2 hours visiting and drinking wine without having to continually check the roast. At the end, after the MEATER + told me the meat should rest for 15 minutes, we served and it’s as perfectly cooked. Probably the best BBQ roast I’ve ever done (or had!)

Despite sending multiple email Meater have no interest in supporting my warranty claim. Its now a £100 wasted.

1) The temperature is 10-15c off, compared to my wired thermometers, and the food is cooked correctly when I use those.
2) The range is incredibly short, and it rarely stays connected. I’m lucky to have it stay connected one out of four cooks, and even then it is wildly inaccurate..
Very disappointing, and I would suggest staying clear of this dud.
Additionally, and I didn’t realise this when I first wrote this review, it has a very low temperature range it works in. 100c for the food and 300c for the ambient temperature. That’s just silly.
Given how bad it is, I have started to report them whenever I see their ads on social media.

Pray to god that your Meater works for more than 1 hour…otherwise you have no hope in hell of getting support other than “have you cleaned it?”
I am in contact with their full technical department and I regularly receive emails asking me random questions. Meanwhile this item worked for 1 hour. No mention of a replacement at all and now I have to send the probe back but keep the charger…WHAT USE IS THE CHARGER TO ME???
Terrible service….DO NOT BUY!!!

I’ve waited a long time before writing this review. I’ve used this device for a number of years. It just doesn’t perform as advertised.
It will barely keep a 40 foot range. For context, the length of my property is shorter than 165 feet, and I can’t even make it 1/3 of the way through my lot without losing signal. I’ve tried everything, placement of the base, foil, no foil, different cooking methods (I have a Traeger (single walled), Weber Performer, Broil King, and a smaller Weber)… oven, etc. I’ve tested it outside, inside, left it outside, and the tested inside, etc. In all cases, the range tops out at 40 feet.
I reached out for support and receive a blase answer explaining what I am doing wrong – literally the support rep. copied and pasted their help section, which is not helpful at all, as I’ve already read it.
They also recommended I use the Meater Cloud – which I know how to use and have used. However, I don’ t understand why I purchased a “Meater +” with a 165 foot range when I have to keep a device close by that is running so I can use the cloud, especially when I could buy a cheaper model and do the same thing. I purchased the 165 foot range device to I can use it it to its specified length (or close enough).
This type of condescending attitude and lack of support for a supposedly “premium” device (that BTW regularly has sync issues with the probe and the base, is really disappointing and frankly speaking, I will likely purchase a different wireless probe that doesn’t have all these issues, is cheaper, and has real customer support.

Have used it a couple of times and on both occasions the device reported completely inaccurate temperature information. The first time was a prime rib roast on a rotisserie. I trusted it and served up a very underdone dinner. The second time was a pork shoulder I was slow cooking. This time I used another reliable wired thermometer I have used successfully in the past to verify what the meater was telling me. The ambient temperature reported by the meater was high by about 75 degrees F. and the internal temperature reported was high by approximately 20 degrees F. I gave up on it. I may experiment with it more, if I can figure out what the difference is it may still be useful. I also would say the 165 foot wireless claim is an exaggeration. I can’t seem to get more than 30 or 40 feet away before i lose contact. I had very high hopes but so far, I’m disappointed. The app and the principle behind it are sound, just doesn’t seem to deliver the quality.

Great concept and beautiful industrial design. But…The range is not what is advertised, the unit kept losing connection within 10′. In addition, there was a discrepancy between the readings on the bbq and the unit. Figured it was the bbq (Weber Summit 470), but checked with another digital thermopen and the Meater was reporting low by 10’F. The app is great. Not quite prime time for the price.
