OK so I read through all the reviews, read the complaints and I figured out why so many people are saying “it doesn’t work”.
Most phones these days have USB C ports, this item comes with a USB C adapter which was good of the seller to include…or so you’d think.
The problem is that the USB C adapter they include is SUPER cheap and of extremely low quality. My line of work affords me multiple phones from several different brands, I also have a ton of adapters for every situation, but I receive high quality adapters….they’re still cheap but not as cheap as the ones provided with this item.
Anyways, tried using the included adapter with several different phones and I couldn’t get it to work. Grabbed one of my own USB C adapters and it instantly worked.
Also something to keep in mind; sometimes with some phones, you’ll have to enable “USB OTG”. Sometimes you can find it in the drop down quick toggle menu and sometimes you’ll have to “edit” the quick toggle menu and find the OTG option in the list of toggles to add to the drop down, which is what I had to do. Didn’t even know there was a toggle for OTG in the edit list but there it was.
If you can’t find any OTG options for your phone, Google it, sometimes these settings are hidden in “developer options” which is also hidden but revealed by going to “about phone” locating the software “build number” and then tapping it I think 5 times? maybe it was 10 times..I can’t remember but a little message will popup telling you how many more times you need to tap the build number to unlock developer options.
Used my own adapter + enabled USB OTG and it worked like a charm.
One more thing to note, there’s a light brightness dial on the cable itself. If you find the images are too over exposed, use the little dial and turn the light intensity down for a properly exposed image.
Bottom line, even if the included adapter DOES work out of the box, it WILL fail on you, causing you to think the device itself is now broken. It’s not, it’s just the lousy USB C adapter. Seller should really spend an extra dollar or two for better USB C adapters because they’re basically shooting themselves in the foot with this one…

This thing is pretty awesome. Downloaded the CameraFi app from the Play Store and it worked right away. Takes great close up shots of plants at the lowest setting but I haven’t been able to get good shots with the highest magnification yet. Just blurry.

I enjoy inspecting things and taking close up photographs as it’s interesting looking at the micro world that we cannot see by our eye. I thought I’d give this microscope a try as it had some pretty good reviews.
I am stunned at the quality of this digital microscope, especially for the price.
I was never expecting it to be so good! I would guess the camera even goes to 1250x unlike the 1000x that is advertised. If you are sceptical and not sure whether or not to buy this, I would say GO FOR IT, you won’t regret it. A must have tool for necessary occasions.
I have attached lots of photographs that I have taken with the camera. I hope you enjoy!

So i read a few reviews saying that this would not work right outta the box,no pics on screen, the app was no good, etc….just a little heads up for people looking at purchasing a digital microscope, make sure your phone or tablet is able too support “otg” which for anyone like me who isnt ,or at least i wasnt familiar with “otg” is an acronym for on the go,that short little adapter cable (which is included with this btw) that goes from usb to android phone charger type port, that is an on the go cable. Its used for connecting many different types of hardware too phones and tablets so most device have capabillity of supporting it.I did find out tho, that my early samsung tablet does not,i downloaded an app called OTG CHECKER and it was able after many ninutes of headscratching

I needed photographs of microscopic sections of plant stems, leaves and roots to illustrate a book, and could buy them from www for up to £70 each. Instead, £14 for the Jiusion Digital micriscope did the whole job perfectly well — see example below, which was my very first attempt. The only recommendation I would make is that the instructions be written by a beginner like me and not a professional engineer. Having said that, Jiusion Lui replied to my queries instantly, courteously and effectively. Now I have an excellent instrument of quite astonishing value for money.

Decent piece if kit for the price. Nowhere near the magnification claimed though.
At 1000x you should be able to see individual blood cells, but you cannot with this microscope, or if you can, I haven’t figured out how to.
The zoom button doesn’t work on any device, Android or Windows and the snap button only works with one piece of software on the CD, but doesn’t work at all on Android.
If the seller can tell me how to get to the claimed 1000x magnification, I’ll edit my review, but as of right now, I can only give it this.

Better than I expected for the price. Great to play with trying out different objects close up.

I use this camera for observe trichomes in order to determine when I should cut down my plants. It does the job but it is not easy capture a satisfactory photo. The user needs to zoom in on the trichomes, keep the scope at the right distance in order to focus, dim the scope light, keep a steady hand and tap the camera capture button in my camera app on my phone. I wish I had a third hand in order to capture the photos I need when capturing a good enough photo. For capturing 10 bud sites on 4 plants, reserve 1 hour of your time trying to gather close to 75 shots of pictures where only 15 photos will be clear & focused on the trichomes while dimming the microscope light appropriately. The zoom button on the camera does not work with the windows amcap application and the following apps: USB_CAMERA, OTG View, AN98, CameraFi, CameraFi2. The snap button only works on the AN98 app on my Samsung SM-N910V note 4 phone Android 5.1.1. It was difficult to install as a camera device. I had to go to device manager and remove the device in windows 7 and reinstall it but its not a big deal because I only use my phone when capturing the photos I need from my plants. With that being said, I can’t think of an alternative solution that would be as cheap as this (30 CAD) with this kind of photo quality that would determine when I should be cutting down my plants. Although, I would prefer another solution where I did not spend as much time or effort trying to get a good enough photo of the trichomes.

I used this microscope to inspect a knife edge and it was super easy to use. On Windows 10, this is pretty much plug-and-play; you just have to plug in the usb cable, wait for windows to recognize the device (it shows up as a webcam) and start the Camera app, that’s it!
There is effectively only two zoom settings, 40x and 1000x, as you cannot “slowly” zoom in, which is a bit annoying. The refresh rate at 40x is very good, almost real-time but at 1000x it is lacking a bit, so there is a big delay and it’s very hard to see if the subject moves. Also the quality at 1000x is not super crisp (see pictures) but it does the job. It’s definitely not a professional tool but its nice to have at home.
Other that that the build quality is decent and the stand is a nice addition. It does pack pretty small too for storage.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.
For the price, a really excellent piece of kit.
It effectively has two optical magnifications which are supplemented by a less useful digital zoom. The thumb wheel adjusts both focus AND, if you keep rotating it, moves between the two magnification levels. According to my calibrations these are 35X and 160X (at 640 x 480 on screen). Note these are two distinct magnifications – there is not a continuous ‘zoom’ function between the magnifications. By switching to a higher screen resolution (the video capture pin in the software goes all the way up to 6324 x 4742!) the apparent magnification increases to around 460X, but effectively is the 640 x 480 image blown up. So I have tended to use the microscope at what looks to me to be the native sensor resolution of 640×480 to give the highest quality images and videos.
The included Amcap software works very well, though once you have installed the drivers, you can use other apps – like Window Movie Maker – to capture footage. The device is just another webcam as far as the PC is concerned.
It also comes with an OTG adaptor to connect to your mobile phone which makes the device really useful for field work. Again you can use any app (I use Android ‘Endoscope’) to interface. On my phone, this doesn’t work so well – any movement seems to disconnect the device.
There is a knob about 1/3rd of the way down the USB cable to adjust the brightness of the 8 LED built in light – from off to extremely bright. The lighting is more than adequate for any situation. If using microscope slides you might need to tilt them a little to stop the lights reflecting in the glass (or use ambient light).
If you are buying this microscope for the stated 1000x magnification and HD images, you might be disappointed, but if you want a really nice piece of kit able to comfortably magnify up to 160X with perfectly reasonable 640×480 images and don’t want to spend more than £15 then you will be delighted.
Images are: 1mm scale on a ruler, shaved facial hair, shed spider skins (low and high magnification), mosquito larvae (low and high magnification), and video of mosquito larvae swimming in pond water (low magnification).
