I have this humidifier for a month, and I am not happy with it. The top half of the filter dries up by time I need to refill the water container. Also, as the filter starts to dry the unit become less efficient with lower humidity, I contacted the manufacture, but they were not helpful. They suggested that the new filter that came with the unit may be going bad probably due to hard water. We do not have hard water in the city where I live in. Personally, I will not recommend this unit
Update.
I contacted the manufacturer again since I only have this unit for about a month, and they were not helpful. This unit is a waste of money.

It’s hard to find this. Honeywell told me they would not get it in time for the winter so I was happy I was able to find it here. It’s quiet and very easy to use; great for sleeping if you have dry eyes or skin. I highly recommend this product.

Purchased an Amazon Warehouse deal item, which can be used, a return, have minor “cosmetic” flaws, or as I suspect this unit was, has simply had the original packaging damaged, as it seems brand new, but just came in an unmarked box. Very happy with the deal I got, price wise.
I also own a large Kenmore/Emerson evaporative unit, which can output about 16L per day of moisture, and it keeps most of the house humid enough, but my bedroom gets dry in winter with the door closed and furnace running, so I wanted to bump up the local humidity with a quiet unit. This does the job, with a max output of around 3-4L per day (one fill of the reservoir). It can handle no more than perhaps 500 square feet in a very dry location like Alberta in winter.
This unit is quiet, but only on the low setting. There is no humidistat or low-level switch on the unit, simply a 3-speed fan control dial, so it will run 24/7 and totally dry out the unit if you don’t refill. The unit I purchased has a slightly unbalanced, and crookedly mounted plastic fan, which occasionally rattles a bit. The water reservoir is well designed, and can be placed upside-down in a kitchen sink for easy filling, with a large lid/valve opening. Sometimes the lid is difficult to loosen, but the designer thoughtfully but notches around the rim of the lid, giving something to lever on to help open it.
The filter/wick seems good, and much cheaper to replace and easier to find than for the Kenmore/Emerson unit I have. If you live in a hard water area, I recommend the “Golden Solution” 2-in-1 water additive for preventing bacteria growth and slowing scale buildup in the wick.

This is a great humidifier – I have 2 and will probably get a third.
A few things to note and keep in mind (for those griping about performance issues):
1 – This humidifier is NOT a whole house unit. It is meant for large rooms (~ 400-600 sq ft). My house is ~ 1200 sq ft, which is why I’m considering a third unit. I live in Alberta, so inside winter humidity levels drop to around 20%. The two humidifiers can get the level to around 30% (medium speed, running 24/7).
2 – If you run the humidifier 24/7 AND fill it with unfiltered, hard tap water you WILL need to change the filter every 4-6 weeks. That’s just how it works. The yellowing and hardening of the filter is from hard minerals. Use filtered water or distilled water I’d you want the filter to last longer (distilled water is probably less cost effective, though). Also, like most things, clean the reservoir and tray regularly with soapy water or soak in vinegar. This is a no-brainer.
3 – Yes, the unit can be a bit louder on the medium and high fan speeds. This is an evaporative type humidifier, which means it sucks in air, mixes it with water and spits out humid air. It isn’t as quiet as the ultrasonic type humidifiers, which spit out an ultra fine water mist (and leave a fine white dust/film everywhere, if you don’t use distilled water). I am a light sleeper and find I can sleep with the units running on the low fan speed.
4 – DO NOT over-tighten the lid to the reservoir. You will either crack the lid or wear down the gasket. I made that mistake with one of the lids and it’s a bit leaky now.
5 – If you have don’t want to deal with any of the above, you can spend a few hundred dollars on a whole house humidifier. But for ~ $80, I find this unit works quite well.
And no, I wasn’t paid/gifted the humidifier for a review. I’ve had them for around 3 years and they’re still running very well.

I live downtown Toronto & we have VERY hard water. With most humidifiers it leaves a very light dusting of white powder, but this one doesnt leave any. It has a really large reservoir & lasts for hours before it needs to be filled. Works great.

Looks large but our other humidifier works better. With my older other brand unit the highest setting I feel like I’m being listed by a small waterfall. With this I’m not sure if at its highest setting I’m getting the right amount humidity. Moreover, the unit is large but water tank is relatively small. Our older unit is smaller but can hold about sameor Moree water. I’ll try and post pictures when I can. But hey, my wife seems to think it works, as for me, I’ll stick with ol’ misty.
