The camera overheats like crazy (indoors at 24C ambient temp) and it shuts off. Did everything support told me to, Bought brand new ultrafast Sd card….same thing. Not recommend unless you have money to burn. There are other better cheaper options. Has the same processor as the older GoPros, the front screen has 2fps refresh rate and overall not very reliable. Not even gonna go into the screen issues (laggy and unresponsive) Returned it with great disappointment.

So I know everybody’s experience is going to be different but so far it’s been a lot of complaints about having a glitchy GoPro and I’ve had the exact same problem. I’ve lost footage footage won’t play or footage that didn’t record. I’ve had to go pro not turning off until I pull the battery out. I’ve had it a glitch out shake and freeze up. There’s too many bugs for the GoPro to cost as much as it does. The quality of a footage at low light is horrible the microphone sounds cheap and broken up. Noise cancellation horrible. I have videos that have a ticking sound in the background and there’s nothing I can do about it. Overall not happy.

By far the most impressive GoPro I have ever owned. The 20MP camera functionality makes this great to bring to my kids sporting events and the 14.7MP frame grabs have been fun to pull out of the videos. I love the front screen and plan on buying a housing for any rugged activities. I have been playing around with the “Hindsight” feature (captures something like 30 seconds before you hit the button) at my kids baseball game which is really cool because I don’t need to record the whole game to find a good action shot or miss a spectacular play. By far one of the sweetest options. I am really looking forward to testing this out in the cold being it has a bigger battery that my HERO8. It is a little heavier than my HERO8, but I think the trade off is worth it for sure with the 20MP pictures and all the updates and battery life. Looking forward to getting some great video and pictures before winter.

I will revise my review if GoPro provides an update that fixes the issue. But for NOW, I’m putting this here so you’re aware of the issue. Google it–mine developed loud audio popping after about 6 months, and it’s useless unless they fix it. This is a known issue and they’re trying to resolve it, but they seem to be selling the units without warning anybody.
Update: August 4, 2021 – Still no fix, and you won’t get your money back. They’ll just give you a new one, and it will do the same thing. Why people are still buying this boggles the mind, considering that this is a known issue.

I have used (more precisely, tested) my Gopro 9 for a week and I have experienced that it does not turn on three times so far, although the battery is full. I liked the ‘quikcapture’ feature and had it on but it did not start when I hit the record button. I tried the power button but it did not work either. I pulled the battery and put it back in, then it worked. I have experienced the same thing three times so far only for a week. I will have to return this. Plus, I bought screen and lens protection film and already attached them but I have to return this camera. I wasted my money on those films that I cannot return.

The iPhone app for this is absolutely appalling. I expect more for the price. It almost never connects to my phone, and if it does, it lags like crazy, shows just a black screen, or just disconnects. Without the phone app, it’s less versatile and a pain to use. It’d be nice to be able to see what is being filmed or photoed without watching the Hero’s screen (ex. taking family photos). This issue persist even when they’re side by side (Hero w/ mobile). I have the latest software/firmware updates, but this doesn’t help. It also drains the hell out of the batteries. I tried adjusting the settings to no avail. When the unit is off, the battery still drains.

Impresionante cámara de acción, supera a sus antecesoras en todos aspectos, aunque la sensibilidad de la pantalla táctil deja mucho que desear. Los gestos en la pantalla son bastante difíciles de lograr, es mejor conectarse a la aplicación, la cual tampoco me parece que este optimizada, ya que tarda bastante en conectarse. Fuera de eso me parece una cámara excelente.

I bought the GoPro 9 for it’s listed feature of working as a webcam. Unfortunately, I’ve confirmed with their support that audio is not supported when used as a webcam. I’ve returned it for this reason. I’m sure it lives up to other features – but it’s use of webcam, if you need to use the internal mics, is not available.

If GoPro says is webcam ready then they should offer the software on their website.
