Well if anyone can tell me how to achieve a hands-free bracketed sequence of shots on the A7R, I’d welcome the advice. Its seems you can’t do it in AND have the camera set to timed shutter release. Tried the app – no use either(and a battery drain), and I can’t be dealing with a wired option and those crummy micro usb ports.
This wireless release is cheap, light and does the job. buy two, if your work depends on it.

The past 3 weeks I asked the question to the community if this remote is completable with Nex-5r but I haven’t gotten any answer. I decided to risk a “Blind Buy” because I’m curious to know exactly if it would work with my camera. I got excited when it came. I looked on my camera and went to menu>camera>drive mode>remote cdr. I clicked on the remote’s button, it worked and responded nicely! In the package included a little bag and a battery. I’m glad and satisfied that I bought this remote. It works perfectly with my Nex-5r.
**Suggest to seller, should add more the information to this ad that it also works with Nex-5r

For the price you can’t really complain. Does what you need it to do and is much better than using your phone as a remote control.
Only reason this is not a five star review is because I have noticed a bit of lag at times but all in all for the price you can not beat it.

Simple to use, just go to the menu, select last group, page 3 and set remote to on. Then fire away with this little beasty.
Small, seems well enough constructed, but the battery tray is horrible, you need to use two hands and fingernails to open it, and the battery just rests in place so falls out when you open the tray. Hopefully I wont have to replace it very often!
Supplied with a nice little velvet type draw-string pouch to keep the device in.
All in all a good, simple, easy to use remote for your Sony camera (but do check your camera works with this device before purchase).
UPDATE: After a couple of uses its stopped working. Ordered replacement battery, just in case, but if the batteries last for such a short time its not exactly reliable. So downgraded my review from 4 stars to 1 star.

Very simple device that works as advertised.
Maximum distance I have used it at is 20 feet with a clear line of sight.
On Sony A6000, turn the remote on in the camera and just point the device at the camera in any camera mode.
Very satisfied with the device and the price.

Forget faffing about with plug-in shutter releases, and tripping over wires, this is the way to go if you own a Sony digital camera. I do a lot of macro work on a tripod, and this inexpensive item is a life-saver.

Funny story, this small remote control came in a massive box. Now for the review. It’s cheap and it works, what more can you ask? One small grip would be the buttons, well at least for the single shot that’s where I found it. The problem is that you’ll have to press down on it quite firmly on the center of the button before it registers. Otherwise the pros: great for selfies, and taking photos when your camera doesn’t have image stabilization on either the body and/or lens.

Does the job, cannot comment on durability and battery life yet. One tip is if your camera is setup to display the last picture taken after shutter pressed, then if you try to do a second shot right away, the camera won’t be ready. At first, I thought the remote was just inconsistent in sending a signal or the battery was dead; until I turned off the auto review. After this, the response was snappy. A minor annoyance is since it is an optical trigger, you need to stand on the side of camera with line of sight to the camera’s optical receiver for this to work.

I received this product a few days ago and was excited to test it out. Opened it right away and set my camera up to be able to use it. I am disappointed in this remote. Perhaps I misinterpreted its capabilities based on product description, but I expected more functionality out of this remote. I tested it from various angles and unless I was right in front of it, pointing it directly at the camera, it would not work to take the picture. I was hoping to be able to use this remote for longer exposure photography from behind the camera or at least out of the way of the lens, as well as when travelling to take photos of myself and family. I am considering returning this product as it did not meet my expectations.

Great little IR remote works perfectly with my Sony Ar7III, reliable and easy to fit into my (already full) camera bag. I have used it extensively taking night shots and also for fireworks. It has never failed and helps to give me more control over the quality of my photos.

Just received and tried out. Working well so far. Both instant and 2 sec functions well with my Sony A6300. There is more IR coverage on the right side as sensor on camera located there so it is working almost behind the camera. Left side only from front. BULB also working, 1st press fire 2nd press stops the shutter. Continuous shooting not working – as expected…. Included small bag is useless, would be better a hole and a strip so it can be attached to something easily…Overall great product great price!

This was a low priced entry level remote, so I bought it. It worked fine with my Sony A6000, but later on I opened the battery door to see which battery powered it so I could buy more batteries for future use. When I went to re-inserted the door/battery assembly I didn’t know which way to re-install it. I thought I had it right, but I was wrong. The assembly jammed and I couldn’t push it in. Then it wouldn’t come back out. Probably a good item, but be observant on how it works. Next I purchased a more sophisticated remote, but am struggling with the learning curve of it (lots of features). So, yeah yeah, I ordered this one again to get me bye.

Wow – the battery provided might have been dead (or maybe it was faulty) – so I switched out the battery, or at least TRIED to.
It jammed up completely (yes it was exactly the right battery type), and with little force on my part to try and de-jam it, the battery compartment snapped off like a dried leaf.
Complete junk.
