I am disappointed that after a few months of use in a cupboard with weekly recharges the color stopped changing. Now I dont know if the unit is dried out or not.

Before it fell apart it managed to keep my keezer relatively dry. It kept pools of water at bay and I just needed a facecloth to wipe up some dampness. It works extremely slowly but it was good enough.

While recharging it cracked open and little silica beads fell out. There was no way to snap it closed again because the beads got in the way. The build quality and design are terrible. It’s such a simple device. Someone should make something better and market it to homebrewers.

Update: I attempted to repair it but this thing doesn’t even come close to fitting together. These are injection molded shells so I imagine all units are built this poorly. Unreal.

I don’t have an exhaust fan in the bathroom that gets the most usage for showers, so excess moisture and humidity is always a concern. While we crack open the window to release some of that moisture, it becomes a challenge when it’s both hot and humid outside.

Thankfully, I saw this device on sale on Prime Day and decided to give it a try. I was really intrigued when it said that it doesn’t use power to remove moisture because constantly running a large electric dehumidifier can be costly and impractical in a small bathroom.

*** NEW & IMPROVED VERSION WAS DELIVERED (Not the same one shown on the site) ***
I was also thrilled to receive the new and improved version that was better than the one pictured on Amazon. The display/indicator window is so much larger and clearer. I peeled it out of the package and put it on the sink counter in an area where it won’t be splashed by water. I had my doubts at first because it’s hard to tell if it’s working. After a few days, I noticed a difference – NO MORE MUSTY SMELLS!

*** TIP: DON’T PLUG IT INTO THE WALL! ***
After a week, the colour of the silicone crystals changed from bright orange (dry) to dark green (wet). You can see the gradual change in colour a few days at a time. When I lifted it off the counter, I noticed a slight difference in weight – it seemed to be heavier when wet. I was excited to plug it in for the first time to ‘dry it out’. It became quite clear that the unit would not hold steady on a regular wall outlet. The manual specifically says not to let the unit drop to the floor. So I decided to plug it into a power bar that lay flat on a table (I placed it on a table top so that I wouldn’t forget to unplug it). Worked like a charm!

I would 100% recommend this device for a small bathroom or walk-in closet. Don’t expect this unit to get rid of moisture in a jiffy like a conventional electric dehumidifier would. It passively and constantly works in the background day and night to remove moisture gradually. It made a world of a difference in terms of smell in my bathroom, so that alone made this purchase worth it!

I have been using this in my 3D printer cabinet to keep my filaments from being exposed to too much moisture and it has done a great job so far. It’s very easy to tell when the device has absorbed moisture and needs to be dried out, and drying it out is as easy as plugging it into an outlet. Unfortunately it’s very thick and heavy and I could see it possibly falling out of a wall socket while drying if it’s a slightly loose fit. Have been very happy with this for my purposes though.

I placed this in an enclosed tank (bearded dragon with mesh screen lid) right beside the hygrometer. No changes to the humidity registered in the tank, it actually reached it’s highest level this morning. Been in there for 48 hours, beads are orange, not doing anything. Returned.

I got these to keep my windshield clear overnight as I’m VanLife-Ing. It doesn’t really do much for this purpose. It’s still hanging around the van, but if I need to lose dead-weight this will be the first thing to go. It’s never turned green, it just stays pretty orange and my windshield still gets lots of water on it by morning, I did try recharging it and it got warm and fogged up a bit, I unplugged it when the fog dried out, but I wouldn’t buy this product again as it doesn’t work in my micro camper at all. I’m in a transit connect so the smallest van Ford makes and it doesn’t work for me. Sorry to have to say. Save your $36.00 and try something else. 3 stars as it would likely work in a humidor, closet, or wine cellar, but useless in the Van. Probably wouldn’t do much in a damp basement bathroom or anything like that.

It has been in my rv for about 5 months now and works great. I have it installed in the overhead bunk to help keep the bed dry. I do live in a relatively arid place so I know that helps, however when it was more humid I did notice the effects right away. I live in about 300 cubic feet of space so this is just right. At first I had to recharge it every 3 weeks bu at this point te winter has been so dry I haven’t had to recharge it for about 6 weeks now.

Do NOT waste your money. I got to use this product only and exactly once. The beads were orange, and turned green when wet. This is normal according to the instructions and is exactly what was stated in the instructions. I followed the instructions for drying exactly, using the exact amount of time mentioned, 15 hours. Instead of returning to Orange, the beads in the indicator window are now varying shades of orange and dark blue. The dark blue ones are solid blue and many are cracked. The unit is a piece of garbage. The best part? Apparently the warranty card I mailed in to the company “never arrived” and the warranty is not valid. The item also can not be returned to Amazon because it took longer than the allowable amount of time for it to saturate water so that the drying could be completed. Waste of money, do not buy this product. Dries up water so slowly as to not to be worth even being there, and then apparently can not even dry itself out properly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I bought two of these, and they seemed to work okay for the most part. I put these in my pantry corners which liked to mould. I only got to “recharge” this product three times before the top tabs popped open, spilling the silica gel everywhere. I’m trying to glue it back but the force required to keep it together is just too strong.

The bottom half is screwed together, but the top is snap shut. If only they used screws at the top…
