As others had mentioned, the nature of the heating quickly yields strips of mineral deposits on the heating surface if your water is hard. This is something that is usually only a problem if you boil dry, but with this unit it happens in normal use, and quickly. Another fault is that the design of the spout limits you to a fairly slow pour — go any faster and it’ll start splattering down the pour side of the unit.
EDIT: 2020-02-02 – Less than six months after buying this we were boiling water when I noticed a large black piece of plastic flowing around in the water. It was the assembly at the top back of the kettle that holds the glass to the backbone, and it looks like it simply degraded and just fell completely apart. Thankfully this was in a static position because without this the kettle cannot hold when lifted — if it hit the breaking point while being moved with water it would have been a lot of boiling water falling in dangerous places. This is an extremely dangerous defect. Given that the unit was already mediocre (the water splattering due to a very poorly engineered spout is just farce on a kettle), this defect just puts it over the top as a disastrous product.

Well…this is a kettle that boils water. That’s all there is to it. All kettles are pretty pricey for what they simply do. BUT, I was quite surprised by the feel of quality when taking it out of the box. Comes with a nice manual for cleaning instructions and other basic but usefull stuff. Just unpacking it was like opening a present and feeled fun. There’s not a lot of quality glass kettles out there and I think that this one should recieve a special honor for their product presentation which is accurate and what it actualy is. A good kettle for your simple boiling needs. I still feel that pricewise they could do better but seeing other kettles at the same price that feel cheaper or the plastic ones that feel a lot cheaper than their cheap price, it’s acceptable. For the looks, it’s a nice decorative and usefull kettle that I do not regret buying. All I wanted was a simple water boiler, nothing else, no other functions, just a push and boil kettle and that’s what I got with a nice decorative touch and a solid quality feel. I still think that someone should invent a kettle that can have it’s lid come off with push-in clips or pins because even though it has a comfortable opening for cleaning, your still stuck with a lid in your way, but it says that the opening is wide enough, it is but nothing too special about it. And the power cord feels also good, it’s not one of those flat cords that just feel cheap. The product in whole is worth to buy and I strongly suggest it if you want a GLASS kettle.

I just recently bought this item and was super excited to use it. I boiled my first water and it worked great. However… A couple of hours later (same day) as i was about to boild more water, the light stopped working. For a moment i thought is completely stopped working since that light never came back on. It will still boil the water, but the lights are already out for good.
If one issue appered after a first use.. I am afraid if this kettle will even last another month or 2 for tge price paid.

Nice kettle, but for one thing. There is a strainer attached to the lid that gets in the way when filling the kettle. From what others have described damaging this can result in the lid not properly closing. After using this kettle I agree that the strainer gets completely in the way when filling the kettle and it would be very easy to damage it

Good quality, no smell of burning plastic, least contact(not zero contact) of boiling water with plastic, fast boiling, saves energy, matches with my stainless steel appliances perfectly, contemporary & sofisticated look. Overall it’s a great product. Warranty doubles if product is registered.

Piece of junk….the kettle itself works fine, but the lid….(this was purchased three weeks ago) will not completely close and the filter fell out….apparently the two things are related. How do I get this thing either fixed or refunded? OK…an addendum….the seller was kind enough to send another kettle…..which lasted almost three months before doing the exact same thing as the last one….so if you have an irresistible desire to purchase a kettle with a lid that will not close and scald your hand when pouring, then this is the kettle for you. If you want a good quality kettle that lasts….then look elsewhere.

Saw a bunch of stuff floating in the water the first three times of boiling water. Assuming it’s coming from the bottom of the Glass container… Pretty sure I accidentally drank some. I would advise to check your water the first three times you boil before you drink it.

Used it twice and my daughter bumped the filter while filling from the faucet and the filter broke off.
Once that happened the lid no longer closes as the retractable piece that the filter is attached to blocks the hinge portion near the release button.
Looks nice but is too fragile.
Edit added 2 stars for customer service. The company contacted me and sent me a replacement kettle free of charge. The new kettle is working great.
