I bought this due to non availability of the canon adapter. It was OoK to start with although occasional glitches in connection. Connection problem got progressively worse when using it with the 100-400 mk ii. The connection plates came loose and despite screwing them in, connection was unreliable. I think it is just not up to the job when used with heavier lenses. Have since found a source for the canon adapter. I advise caution using this adapter with heavy lenses.
Just My Opinion –
I bought this adapter since Canon has been out of stock on theirs for ages (pathetic). This adapter is used on a Canon R6. I haven’t extensively field-tested it but for those desperate for an adapter here are my tentative findings. Yes, AF works well. Yes, you can do all the functions, AF, aperture, metering, IBIS, EXIF info etc. The fit is tight and it locks into place nicely. I doubt there is any light leakage. How does it compare to the Canon? I don’t know. What I know is that I can use my new camera with this adapter and it worked on all the lenses I tested, Samyang (manual only), Tamron, Canon.
UPDATE: As compared to the Canon, it is about the same thickness, AF is about the same speed. There is no light leakage and fitment is tight. Pictures render beautifully. A must have. Sorry, Canon, get your supply sorted out.

Let me start by saying that I’ve tried other ef – eos m adapters… from the $40 – $65 range (fotodiox, viltrox, etc) and almost all , even the ones that say “full metal” body end up being made out of plastic (at least the shell and the internal cover, and use 3 to 4 zinc alloy rings as support). However, this Commlite ef-m adapter is no joke. The whole unit is made out of solid AL metal (except for the internal cover). So, if you are looking for quality for the money this would be it… and still costs 1/3 the cost of the canon adapter.
However, if you are planing on using telephoto zoom lenses, DO use a support rig for your lens or at least make sure the lens does not weight more than the adapter and camera together ( else, there could be some damage to the camera body/ EOS ring, unless the zoom lens has a tripod shoe adapter built in, then use that…)
The unit does have a tripod shoe mount made of a solid 3 piece metal. And the actual hole in the adapter is a 1/4 inch so you can hook it up to other support systems if needed.( The other units I’ve tried have a custom nonstandard screw).
Buy it, try it, you won’t be disappointed… (I now have 2 of these)
Cheers!

I am updating this review as I have some time to use it. The tripod adapter (which is why I bought this brand) is not as solid in its attachment to the lens as I would like. Otherwise the rest of the review still stands. “This appears to be a very well made adapter. I have attached it to my Canon M10 and attached my Canon EF-s lenses to it. It is quite heavy and appears to all metal. The lens seems to function well and I am not expecting any problems. If this changes, I will update my review.”

I bought a Canon M100 and wanted to use all my EF and EF-S lenses. It fits nicely, it turns and lock onto the Camera tightly. All of my lenses fit onto the adaptor perfectly. Price is very reasonable. Focus hunting as expected, it doesn’t bother me at all, just change the settings and you’re good to go. At the bottom of the adaptor, it comes with a screw on mount, it is removable. Both sides of the adaptor is metal (very well built). Provides full function of AutoFocus on all EF and EF-S lenses.

Initially I wanted the official canon adapter, however these were out of stock with no date for restocking so I bought this instead. Although I can’t compare this generic item to the branded Canon adapter, I have to say that so far I have been really impressed with what it does. All my EF lenses (Canon 100-400l mk2, Canon 100 macro, Sigma 150-600, Sigma 150 macro) work perfectly with all functions operating as I would expect. At at least half the price of the Canon adapter, I have no hesitation in recommending this item.

Update: I lowered my review to one star because the adapter now spins 360 degrees within the camera mount when I try to remove it. I can still get it in and out, but I am worried this will or already has damaged my camera’s lens mount. You’ll be better off just getting the Canon brand adapter for a little more money.
I noticed a few other reviews mention this, but I don’t know how the rating on this products is so high.
The tripod mount adapter is wobbly, no matter how much you try to tighten it. Some people complained it is heavy, but I hoped that was a sign of quality. It’s really not. In addition to the tripod mount being wobbly, the adapter also has some play in it. Therefore, unless the other brands of this product just don’t work, I assume they’re better.

Bought this during lockdown to use my Canon EF lenses with an R series camera. Canon UK and every camera shop in UK were out of stock. Even now 10/2 they are predicting a mid march date for the Canon equivalent.
So took a gamble and bought this. It is well made, was sell packaged and, so far has worked well.
If you have a new Canon R seies camera and want to use your EF lenses, give it a go. So far so good!

I bought this with the aim of having a cheap adapter option to put as permanent appendage to a couple of my cheaper lenses.
Similar size to the official Canon control ring adapter. The Tripod adapter comes off easily but when fitted is not square with the body, it’s about 5-10 degrees off kilter.
It fits all my lenses but does not work with all of them.:
Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 EF L (mk 1) – AF working OK but it’s giving a strange humming sound, as if it is hammering the IS…
Canon 50mm F1.8 – Working without issue.
Sigma 150mm APO Macro DG HSM – Working without issue
Sigma 18-300 F3.5-6.3 DC – AF hunting and never locks, Heavy fringing at 18mm , small fringing at 300mm.
So the more expensive the lens the more likely it is to work, which is counter productive for me for not spending the extra 40 quid for the official adapter….
So I will keep it and leave on my Macro lens, but I will have to use an official Canon one to leave on my 18-300 lens or the 100-400.

Really struggled to get this attached to my R5. Decided that it was not worth damaging my camera so returned it.
Poorly machined. I guess I was unlucky, they cannot all be this tight so I’ll put it down to poor QA. If this had been tested at the factory it would have been geld back
Electronically worked fine though

This is an absolute necessity when you have a Canon mirrorless camera. This allows you to use all your EF and EF-S lenses. All the autofocus features still work and plenty fast. The only small issue and the reason I gave it a 4 star was that they tripod mount gets loose easily. Hard to get it so tight that it stays tight. Other than that its great. Highly recommended.

This adapter works perfectly with my Canon M50 camera. So far I have used it with two Canon lenses. The 50mm f1.4 and a 28-105mm f3.5-4.5. Autofocus works as expected, no slower than on a native mount. These particular lenses aren’t the fastest autofocus so but I feel pretty confident that the adapter adds no lag what so ever. It just works. Same as native mount. The adapter feels solidly made too. I personally prefer non-speedbooster adapters. I never like a piece of cheap glass between my lens and the sensor. In my experience it’s always better to go with an adapter that has no glass element (non-speedbooster type). This is the adapter you want for your M series body.
