From all the rave reviews, I purchased this strictly to view trichomes. I find it a PITA to get it to focus and when I do…if I blink, I have to refocus again. I find this to be a toy at best. Better than nothing, but still wouldn’t recommend it. My old Mini 60X Adjustable Pocket LED Microscope Magnifier is much easier to use.

I bought this for the kids to mess about with in lockdown. It is very light weight and smaller than my hand. The phone clip came with it as did one glass slide. I thought that it might be complicated to get it to work with your phone, but it’s really easy, just put the camera hole of the phone over the microscope viewer and put the phone camera on! Even I could do it! I didn’t trust the clip to keep my phone in place securely as it is only just holding on to the very edge of it, so I held it. Kids aged 9 and 11 were able to use it without much input from me, which is what homeschooling is all about.8
The image on the phone is round, which geniuses might have already figured out, but I was expecting a whole screen image because I’m stupid.
Ps I just went back to look at the ad and info film about this microscope and they have full screen images, not just a small round picture. I need to play around with it a bit to see how to do that.

This is a fantastic product for the price. Me and my friends have had many hours of enjoyment and inspired us to get a much more powerful scope. Pictures are
1, Spider mite
2, A spec of my blood from a crushed mosquito
3, a video of a spidermite running that was on our cannabis plants

I really don’t want to write a negative review but after reading all the other comments I had such high hopes for this. I know for £23 it’s not going to be top of the range but there are so many things wrong with mine that I don’t even want to use it.
I think my unit may have been a faulty return or has been used as the included slide is very badly scratched making it impossible to view anything on it as all you see are the magnified scratches.
The lights come on if/when they feel like it and when using the flap the led is supposed to change to the bottom led but it very rarely does. Often it flickers between both or just doesn’t change at all.
When adjusting the focus the whole lense part moves from side to side, making it extremely difficult to stay focused on one thing as it’s constantly moving out of frame.
The eyepiece is non existent. I realise this can be used with a phone but I though it would also be possible to look through the lense with one’s eye. It is, of course, but it’s extremely difficult to get the right distance, angle and not budge a millimeter as even the slightest movement loses the image. It’s not impossible to view, just extremely uncomfortable and difficult. A removable eye piece would have solved this problem.
If it wasn’t for the above problems this would be a great little miscroscope. The image is sharp, the magnification is good for the price and it’s easy to carry around. It’s not worth the hassle of returning it so sadly I’ll be looking for a different model, though probably need to spend a bit more to get the quality. Don’t get me wrong it’s not massively bad, just not as pleasant to use as it should be. Sorry Carson.

Amazing little microscope,
The phone attachment takes a bit of getting use to but I finally got the hang of focus and taking pictures.
Leg hair, open cut, comforter fabric, plants, fingernail clippings,. Some gross and amazing stuff in our micro world,. Lots of fun, maybe I’ll let the kids play with it eventually lol

This is awesome considering the price and that it’s small enough to take anywhere..
Totally in love with the clip included to use your phone to view and take pics with! (Included a pic of some bud to show this use). It makes it so everyone can be involved instead of everyone fighting over who gets to look next.
I got this to magify anything and everything mostly for entertainment and knowledge but I’d planned on using it to see fine solder connections and to do lots stuff that needs magificaton. However it turns out that it’s not great for that use as it is too magnified for that use since it doesn’t go under 100x
I also find it a bit tricky to use it at 250x and hold focus, especially if I’ve had a few coffees already.. but overall AWESOME ITEM .. great for everyome

I purchased two different Carson microscopes this one and another magnifying from 20X to 60X. Considering their VERY reasonable price tags, I did not expect a lot and purchased them more to experiment with economical tools rather than relying on them. WELL … I was in for a pleasant surprise! Both units perform very well, are extremely compact, and became go-to microscopes when it is inconvenient to use my research microscope. Consequently, they are good field companions for a cariery of nature observations.
Combining the two Carson microscopes, I can operate from 20X to 60X, and from 100X to 250X which is more than enough for quick field work. Both units feature illumination, which is very handy to tackle less than ideal lighting conditions — especially at higher magnifications.
A word of caution, however, although these microscopes work exceptionally well, do not expect them to be usable like a loupe! To obtain optimum results, you must stabilize the specimen and the microscope. Trying to use them as a handheld magnifier is futile and decidedly frustrating.
The 100X to 250X unit comes complete with a good smartphone adapter allowing the phone camera to capture photographs and videos of your specimens BUT the adapter cannot be used with an armored phone case. The adapter MUST be mounted right on the bare phone, in which case it functions as expected.

Very clear optics for the price. A little fiddly to set up with a phone, but once done it’s great.

I bought this product for my 14 year old. He loves it. It has excellent magnification and is easy to use without a cellphone.Good compact size makes for easy carrying out-doors. I could see cells of different plants. Have not used the included slide as yet but will soon. This product would have gotten five stars except for the reasons mentioned below.
The few things that might help with a bit of improvement are a better brighter LED light (the focus of the light seems to be a little off). A removable eye piece for better viewing without a cellphone. The cellphone adapter needs to improve it is difficult to use with some models (I used the Moto G4).

I realise that they’ve intentionally designed this in such a way so as to allow a smart-phone to be used over the looking viewer, but this design REALLY suffers for lack of eye-piece. In this design choice I think that they’ve rather put the cart before the horse, and I ought to have purchased the weaker but presumably more use-able version!
Without an eyepiece it is impossible to find the right distance to put one’s face to the viewer, and this incessant need to “hover” one’s face some more or less millimetres from the viewer gets very tiresome very quickly, and of course the image is lost from focus each time that one wavers nearer and farther from that viewer.
So buyer beware – this design seems specifically intended for use with a smart-phone, and using it with the naked-eye alone is therefore uncomfortable and tedious.

I have seen things I can never un-see. Seen them v clearly, mind you, and v well illuminated, but still.
Beware of what you put under this microscope.

I like how it came with a few pieces. Works well, though adjusting it is extremely finicky compared to a few other hand microscopes I have. Though it does the job and I’m glad it has a sliding small shelf for the slides to sit on. I’d say it’s worth it for the money. It’s not too thick and tall. So it easily fits in my hand, having it taller saves my neck from feeling as sore which is nice.
Confused how the parcel itself had chew marks on it and had coffee grounds inside or strong smelling dirt. Unless something got in there during delivery? But the microscope itself inside was sealed well. No marks on it at all thankfully.
