My new Brita Longlast filter flows fast and measures badly with a TDS tester. I compared it to a new, regular Brita filter, and made sure the filters fit tight, and measured many times, for accuracy.

I filled the pitcher to the top and the water flowed through the Longlast filter in 30 seconds. It took 1.5-2 minutes to flow through my new, regular Brita filter. Right away, I knew more time means more filtering. My measurements enforced this observation.

All measurements were taken at the same 23 degrees for consistency. Tap water measured 169 ppm. The Brita Longlast filter measured 156 ppm, hardly any improvement. My new, regular Brita filter measured 126 ppm, and much better. I repeated all tests numerous times to confirm my findings.

In trying to lower lead in my drinking water, I’ve wasted $25 on a defective or poorly designed Brita Longlast filter.
I’ll have to stick to the regular Brita filters that I’ve used for years, as they do a better filtering job. With Brita Longlast filters, they flow too slow, they flow too fast. At least the slow ones, are filtering. My fast flowing one is not.

Brita needs to redesign this ineffective filter.

Similar to many other users, we found the so called Brita “longlast” filters took way too long to filter just one tank of water. We have converted back to using the standard filters. We purchased the “Longlast” filter on Amazon in January 2019 and paid Cad$31.97 for the two pack. Now back to paying for standard filters. We have used Brita jugs and now the tank for many years and this is the first time a product has disappointed. I have sent message (todays date) to the consumer contact of Brita USA providing the details. I’m hoping for some compensation for the filters that I have now wasted. I also wonder if these filters could be made in a glass container which could be recycled and it would be possible to see if the filter was clogged etc.? These plastic filters are sold by the millions and all end up in land fill.

Gives enough filtration so that the two filters will last for 1 year.

When I first purchased a longlast filter, I was impressed with the taste of the water. It seemed better than the standard filters. I barely got two months use from them before the filtering was so slow and filter obviously clogged, that I had to replace it. It took an eternity to filter and it was one third of the length of time they claim to last.

After three in a row, I have gone back to the normal filters. I wanted something that was sure to filter lead from water, and not even sure it’s a concern with my city water, which wasn’t too bad to begin with, taste-wise.

I wish there was a competitor who’s products were easy to find and order, since Brita has terrible recycling program now in Canada, farmed out to a third-party company. They make it so difficult to recycle the filters that I’m sure many people just toss them in the garbage instead. I had to be put on a waiting list to even get access to the program. Who has a waiting list to recycle something?

Yea it is slightly easier to fit into my pitcher, the slower filtering rate is also acceptable. But when water go through, it is still hard water! After boiling it once the scale is quickly built up on my kettle, and the water tastes strange with white dusts. It does not seem to do its job, will not buy again.

This is rediculous. There is barely any water coming out. These filters are supposed to be superior than the regular ones. I will request a refund. This is clearly a scam and I should have read the other review. By the way, I’ve used Brita filters for over 10 years now without any issue.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this long-last filter. I feel silly because I did not read the reviews before purchasing; with regret, it appears that the upmost due diligence is required for purchasing a water filter. I purchased these long-last filters less than a month now and already one of the filters stopped working. The water does not flow through it.

I have been a long time Brita filtration user and this product does not represent the ease and quality that I have come to know.

During the first week of use, it would take more than 30 minutes to filter one upper tank of the Brita 10 Cup Everyday Pitcher if it filtered at all. Sometimes the water would just sit in the upper tank for hours. I’ve read that some other people experienced these issues and tried the solutions they’ve described: soaking the filter, gently tapping the pitcher to shake bubbles out, or removing the filter and gently squeezing it while submerged to remove any trapped air bubbles. If these solutions worked at all, the remedy would only last for one or two upper tanks. This meant that filling the whole pitcher required multiple hours and/or removing the filter every refill to perform one of the above activities. Although Brita claims the filter can last six months, I had already opened both within the first month hoping that the second filter worked better than the first which was not the case—both filters performed equally poor.

I cannot recommend this item because after a few weeks of usage this filter has become VERY slow for water flowing through, and I looked it up on their website and saw many reviews mentioning the same. I tried their method of solution but still doesn’t really improve the situation. I will be switching back to the normal filters after these two.
