Save yourself the headache and DO NOT BUY this garbage! I expected it to be lower quality just based on the price, but this thing is unusable! Says I’m out of range while I’m standing NEXT to the router. The interface is clunky and just horrible to use. It feels unfinished, and unrefined.

Just received my laptop, the design is great and I lke the keybord. For some reason the tracking pad feel sticky and is way too sensitive if you leave your finger on, without pressure, it would click and open pages, maybe Its because im not fully used to it yet.
The touch screen is great, I find its a bit empty and complicated to find normal computer, no side bar like im used too and stuff but i guess you just have to get around to it. I never had a chromebook before. For light, everyday used its a good laptop for quality-price.Its very light! To me its perfect ofr my little browsing!

Update: i ordered this computer in march 2020 now we’re December 2020 AND IT STOPPED OPENING!!! Gives me a white screen. Never did anything crazy with the computer just browsing, Netflix. No weird downloads what so ever! I know it’s more on the cheap side but I would never expect for it to work well a few month. I’m furious!!!!!

Within 5 min of having this Chromebook I knew it had to go back. First off the moment I took it out of the package it had a noticeable rattle inside the device. There is a screw or something freely floating around Inside and causing this noise. Obviously for a new product that’s unacceptable. And second… The item on paper seems perfect, 15in edge-to-edge screen with USB c-type and chrome os cool right? Well the screen resolution and quality is so beyond trash it’s hard to believe it’s real? Like..Your grandma’s heart monitor has a better resolution screen.. overall much better options out there. Sadly can’t recommend.

Chromebooks are not good in their current state. Think about whether or not you REALLY want a Chromebook because 90% of the time you’d be better off saving an additional $300-$400 and going with a full fledged computer. Chromebook’s really aren’t that useful and even if you think that you’re the type of person to only used web based applications you’ll probably end up regretting buying a Chromebook and wishing you saved extra for an actual computer instead. However, if you’re adamant on getting a Chromebook, this model is decent for the price. The battery life is as advertised, the shortcomings of this Chromebook are the screen and the processing power. Sometimes even loading a 1080p YouTube video will be slightly sluggish. Color reproduction is horrible and the viewing angles are not good either.

Decent Chromebook for the kids to complete their work during quarantine. The touch screen works well, but the actual screen quality is mediocre with poor viewing angles and an overall dimness in bright light. A major downside is the multi language keyboard, which I do not need and do not like. A Q&A answer should be updated to reflect that this model does not come with the US keyboard layout.

It’s cheap. It works. But why does it exist? The screen is terrible. Bland and washed out. Low resolution. My 5-year old iPad had a better screen, was faster and better for browsing the web. There is a paltry 32GB of onboard memory. It’s good enough for browsing the web. But so is an iPad which only costs a little more.

I bought this primarily for browsing the web. Does an ok job, but not great: stutters some times when streaming Netflix for example. Doesn’t play well with some websites (seems to be an insufficient RAM issue).

You can’t effectively run real apps on this. Only half-baked Chrome extensions. Yes, it’s possible to install many Android apps. Some run well. Others are buggy. Most are slower than the same apps on a phone. They’re tagged on like workarounds for the inherent issues presented by an very destitute operating system.

Yes, it’s also possible to run Linux apps on this. It took some fiddling, but it’s doable. Except Linux apps for the most part look and feel like they did a decade ago when I was dabbling in them: like rough-edged poor man’s versions of WIndows apps; only half-functional, either buggy or missing features, or with absolutely terrible user-interfaces created by amazing coding monkeys who have zero understanding of UI usability.

I only paid 300$ for this. At that price, it’s decent. Has a really good keyboard: clicky keys, short travel but very satisfying crisp feeling (no mushiness). The trackpad is also really good: responsive, quick. And sound (from the bottom-firing speakers or the 3.5mm jack) is also impressive: mostly for movies, but works really well for music too (it’s clean and deep).

While Chrome OS has some interesting advantages over an iPad (managing external drives for example), overall… why bother? For a little more money, you can buy a Core i3 PC with more storage and a “real” operating system (Windows) that does everything this Chromebook does and way more; or for nearly the same price, you can get an iPad which is a better entertainment solution and comes with access to excellent Google Office apps or the even better free Apple office apps.

I am not the primary user of this machine so it’s not going to be returned but if it was for me it would be IMMEDATELY returned. DO NOT assume that Multilingual Keyboards and English keyboards are compatible THEY ARE NOT it’s very important to indicate what I am getting. I used to trust that when I was buying from Amazon.ca I would get an English machine unless indicated otherwise.

I wanted to buy my mom a laptop since her 10 year old Toshiba finally failed. I was looking at all the options out there, but everything in my budget range was either way too slow. All she does is watch movies and surf the web, youtube, etc., so I wanted to find her a laptop that was particularly keen for those type of tasks. I started looking into Chromebooks. Mind you, this was the very first Chromebook that I’ve purchased, so I didn’t know what to look for when it comes to specs. I mean, lets face it-when it comes to specs, Chromebooks that are out on the market right now has some very weak specs. But dont be fooled by the unimpressive numbers. Chromebooks use Chrome OS which was developed by Google. They use a completely different user interface than, say Microsoft or Apple. Chrome OS uses significantly less resources, therefore your computer runs very fast, even with low specs. For example, my mom’s old Toshiba had an 10 year old Intel Celeron processor, 8 GB of ram, 500 GB HDD. Nothing too impressive, just an average laptop. This Toshiba took about 4 minutes to boot up. When it comes to surfing the web, watching YouTube, etc., it was an absolute pain! This ASUS Chromebook has similar, or even weaker specs: Intel Celeron processor, 4 GB ram, 32GB storage. You would be wondering why on earth would anyone get a computer that has such weak spec sheet? Don’t be fooled. I was skeptical too when I first purchased this Chromebook. The laptop is able to boot up in 7 seconds. Thats right, 7 SECONDS!!! The entire setup of the laptop took less than 2 minutes. All you have to do is log in using your wifi information and Gmail account. Everything else sets up automatically. The user interface was really simplistic, even a kid could operate it. It makes sense as to why it only has 32GB of storage. You store all your documents on Google’s cloud. All the apps you could possibly ever want is included: Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc. In my mom’s case, all she does is watch YouTube, so this is the perfect laptop for that. Not to mention, it is incredibly thin! It almost looks like a MacBook Air from far away. The Chrome OS updates your computer discretely so you don’t have to worry about the hassle of updating your laptop or be alerted to do so. You also dont get any viruses on Chromebooks too since Google has your back with their security features. All in all this is a fantastic laptop for the price. My mom has been using it for a couple days now and she absolutely loves it! In fact, she tends to baby it by covering it up with the packing sleeve after every use. LOL!

El equipo que compré resulta que no es una Lap Top. No es compatible con los programas de software que utilizo en el trabajo.
