I need this for the upper temperatures. It’s rated at 210max for 800W, while another brand was 203max at 1200W. Made no sense to me, decided to buy this one.
The max it could take my uncovered pot was 193, and that took 3-4 hours with already hot water. If covered I could get it to 203-204. But Anova claims their sous vides can go all the way uncovered. Definitely not.
Undecided if I will keep this because I need at least 200 and that’s really pushing this device. The only thing going for it is that 210 max, but then again, it doesn’t look well tested under those conditions.

I have bought this machine in the past and I loved it! I bought one to give to my friend as a wedding present! but when I opened it to check, I found out it was used! look at all the scratches and the dents! it even has rust on the metals! I don’t know how this could have happened but I am very disappointed.

Bought it primarily for cooking steak, as I have had too many disappointing experiences where I have bought quality steak and then spoiled it by overcooking it (because I am nervous of undercooking it). This thing cooks steak beautifully (10 out of 10) and for that alone, it is worth the investment. It loses one star because the Bluetooth connection is a pain in the rump. If you connect with your phone and start it cooking, and then walk out of Bluetooth range (which isn’t very far), it (obviously) loses the connection. When you walk back in, the App tells you cooking is finished and shall it turn off the cooker ? If you dismiss this message, it persists. So annoying that I have stopped using the App altogether, apart from getting the cooking times and temperatures. [There was an update to the App a few days ago which said something about improving the Bluetooth connectivity but I haven’t tried it yet]. I expect the wireless model is better for around the house but I had no interest in controlling it from outside.

I so wanted this product to work… and it did, for perhaps a total of 6 or 7 times. It still looks brand new. And then, it completely stopped working. My Anova no longer turned on when plugged in. Sent a message to the seller OrangeOyster CA, who asked me to send them a video, which I did. Tim claimed not to have received it. So I sent it again. And then nothing, no more contact. I was ignored completely… Spent a whopping $188 and feel very much like I was taken for a ride. It took me all this time to get the nerve to write a review.

It doesn’t say anywhere in the description that is doesn’t fit the new 1000w Precision – which is REALLY annoying. It’s a nice stand, and if my Precision fitted I’m sure I’d be very happy with it. But it doesn’t fit, so I’ve got to faff about sending it back.
CHANGE THE DESCRIPTION.

Remember that is using a lot of energy to cook somenthing that at the end is not tastier or healthier.
The recipe book is very limited and most of them are from customers experimenting. You are better of with a probe for your steak than waiting hours to end it in a sauce pan.

Outstanding piece of equipment. There are loads of recipes and advice for sous vide cooking, so no problems for amateurs like myself. It has taken the guess work out of cooking the perfect beef steak. No more over cooked and dry pork loin steaks either. I can’t really see the benefit of Bluetooth control if I’m honest, as you need to get the water to temperature first before the cooking time kicks in to put the meat in. I would definitely add a vacuum sealer as well to your purchase. You will also need a good size container to put the water, I did not have a pot big enough.
The machine is well made, robust and simple to use. As the food does not come into contact with the food, cleaning is simple. The main feature is it’s simplicity. Compared to other machines also a good price

If you are going to buy a Anova Sous Vide Precision then you must buy this stand. I still think it should have been included in the sous vide machine rather than spending extra money as an add on. Abit expensive when adding the total cost to a sous vide

I love my new sous vide! We cooked steak this week and it was DELICIOUS and SO easy. Definitely worth it to shell out the extra dollars for the WIFI. I love that I can remotely control my sous vide machine while at work, at the gym, doing groceries etc.
PROS:
– Easy to use. Put it in a plastic bag, set the temp + time and away you go. Perfect meat every time.
– App for the most part is easy to use. Comes with recipes that you can browse for the most popular meats and dishes.
– Great for meal prep, cooking while you’re aware from the house. You can control everything remotely.
CONS:
– Plastic baggies usage – if you don’t like putting your food in plastic because of concerns around plastic leeching into the food, this probably isn’t for you. There are workarounds with silicon baggies, glass containers etc., but the plastic bags still seem to work best. Easier, less maintenance, and doesn’t smell after a while. With glass containers, you most likely have to fill it up with oil and I don’t like the idea of soaking my steak or other foods in oil.
– App can be improved upon. Recipes are still relatively scarce. You’ll find better recipes on youtube and online on how to maximize usage of your sous vide cooker.
– WIFI/ pairing only works with 1 device at a time. You cannot pair your phone and tablet to the sous vide at the same time. This is a BIG bummer for me and I hope they fix it with a software update. Not being able to start the sous vide on my phone and then monitor on my ipad is inconvenient. I often use both devices interchangeably. Unpairing it is also hard. You need to forget the device, and set the other one up all over again. Very annoying.
– WIFI not easy to set up. It took me a good 30 minutes to set up the WIFI. I had to get really close to the router, then keeping trying over and over again before it paired. Still don’t know why the device sometimes pics up the signal and sometimes doesn’t. Once it’s paired though, it works fine. Unless you encounter the above issue of switching devices.
OVERALL VERDICT:
Despite a few minor gripes with the machine, I still love it. It’s convenient and I love love love the steaks it’s able to produce with minimal effort. I treated my family to some dinner this weekend and they all agreed the steak I cooked was better than any restaurant steak they’ve ever had. And I was cooking frozen steak! Imagine what a fresh piece of steak could taste like…YUM!

LOVE IT. Used it for two months now, works incredibly well. For those on the fence: yes it only really excels at like 20 things, but those things are so good. Scallops, pork shoulders, eggs, pork belly, steaks, so damn good. P.S. you don’t need a vacuum sealer. Immersion technique works fine.

Bought this for the purpose of sous vide different kinds of meats for my person pleasure. For the machine itself, ensure that you have a deep and large pot or container, as most standard household pots will not be deep enough to satisfy the minimum water level marking. I suggest investing in a cambro container as well if you are to purchase this sous vide machine.
The machine itself is extremely simple to operate, you do not really have to consult the user manual as it is more or less plug and play. You plug it in, turn the wheel to to adjust the temperature and press the start button.
As for those who question whether to not you need bluetooth or wifi to even operate the machine, you do not. The machine can function perfectly fine without bluetooth or wifi connectivity and will continue to cook on its own. The only benefits of connecting it to your phone or an accessory is so you can control the temperature or add a timer via the Anova app.
I highly recommend this investment as it can yield amazingly tender steaks, duck breasts and other restaurant quality/style food.

The Bluetooth version’s range is ridiculous. I move 12F away and lose connection, that’s not bad in itself but who knows how long the steaks have been bathing in sub optimal temperature? The temp settings and timer were lost in that disconnection!!
It only gets 2 stars because when it works, it makes amazing food but any other sous vide cooker would do the same…

I have been using the Precision Cooker to prepare several great dishes, specially the steaks. But the WiFi function is technically useless unless you are leaving in a 1 bedroom condo or you are staying within the kitchen during the whole process. Once I step away from the kitchen, even just go to the washroom, the WiFi will be disconnected immediately. You will have to reconnect again and again.
