Arrived on time. It does reverse ( some claim this but then don’t) and I can use my lens cap when the lens is reversed for storage in my camera case. Will reverse and allow use of lens cap are critical for me.f

it goes on and off easily. looks and feels as good, or better, than the canon. unless your the guy who just has to have brand names plastered all about this will work just fine for you… i would buy it again.

Fit perfectly on my 50mm 1.8stm lens on my canon rebel T6 camera.
Only problem, there was sprinkles of something on it? Like water droplets? But it doesn’t affect use. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Item is as described by the seller, it arrived on time and well packaged. This item fits like a glove on my 50 mm f 1.8 original Canon lens. It screws on nicely and easily when taking pictures and when storing in backward position. Highly recommended, good value for the price.

Mine came in a damaged box (due to shipping), but the lens hood was rugged enough to not show any signs of actual damage. It doesn’t feel quite like Canon, being like $20 less I expected such, however, it fits on fine, I only had an issue when I tried to use it in reverse. It was a bit hard to screw on backwards and take off.

I can’t believe what a difference this made. I am absolutely FLOORED. It fits perfectly, adds some protection to the lens, it’s sooo easy to get on and off, but most importantly — my image quality has increased SO much by using this thing. I was able to capture effortlessly beautiful images all thinks to this inexpensive little piece of plastic. I really cannot believe it.
Oh, and that’s the other thing — this lens hood was extremely affordable. I figured it would look and feel cheap, but it does not. It’s much higher-quality than more expensive hoods that I have looked at and purchased. I really can’t recommend this enough. BUY IT.

For me, the price and unavailability of many different options more than justifies this lens hood. I keep iton my lens “all the time”, inside and outside. However, for those expecting or needing a perfect fit, you will be slightly disappointed. Although it fits, there is a small gap on both sides where it fits onto the lens. Imagine a half moon shape, that is how the space is on both sides–again, it is not a large space, but it does make its way around wheree the hood and lens touch. Also, it can be a bit testy to remove. But, am I satisfied? Absolutely. If I found one that fit perfectly, would I buy it? Probably not, unless I had a seconday lens or wanted another one as a spare. But even for a perfect fit, I would not spend $30 on one. Hope this helps…be well and happy snapping…

THIS IS FOR THE 50mm f/1.8 STM LENS ONLY. Read some of the other reviews and it was obvious they were trying to put this thin on Non-STM 50mm lenses. The quality and fit of this hood is outstanding. It has alighnment marks that make putting it on a breeze and a tab lick that makes sure it stays in place. If you’re thinking on buying the OEM Canon version, save your money, you won’t be dissapointed.

I’ve been replacing all my lens hoods with the JJC products as their quality and lock in place features are so much better than what the lens manufacturer provides, and at a much better price.

I’ve read some reviews stating the gap lets light through is an issue. Well as it turns out I’ve seen no light leaks in any of my images. I used my laser to see where the light that does come through where it goes. It just moves straight out from the camera towards the subject. The light doesn’t enter the lens. I check my other lens hood from Canon and some of them also have a similar gap. The Canon OEM hoods have a slightly smaller gap but still there and light does pass. I have no issue with light gaps in the OEM hoods.
The JJC hood has frosting on the inside which reduces glare from any light bouncing in. There is also a decorative frosting on the outside that matches my 50mm lens. Nice touch for an inexpensive hood. It replaces another hood (I forgot what brand it was) I had on my R5 that didn’t have the frosting which broke when my camera rolled off my bed onto the carpet. (Of course, the R5 was unharmed as it’s a full metal body. Whew!) I have to say I’m very impressed with the quality of the JJC hood. I didn’t want to buy a pricy OEM hood for a cheap EF 50mm lens.
This is my second JJC product as the very comfortable JJC wrist strap which is attached to my R5. I’m very happy with both of their products and I will try out more of their products in the future.
(Disclosure: I’m a professional wedding and portrait photographer. The camera pictured is a Canon R5 with a battery grip. The lens is the basic EF 50mm f/1.8 lens that you can buy for about $150 bucks. To make all my EF lenses attached to the R5 I use the Canon adapter with a control ring. The reason I use this setup is it’s much lighter than my RF 50mm f/1.2 lens when I do street photography as a hobby.)

Showed up at my door 30hrs after ordering.(4days ahead/free shipping) Fit & finish is perfect but it is NOT reversible so I took one star off(give it a 4.5s if I could). I would recommend it regardless.

This is a great lens hood. I bought it for the 50mm 1.8 STM lens (Nifty Fifty)on my Canon 80D. It goes on super smooth and actually reverse mounts properly for storage. Looks really nice and even has the little speckle pattern to match the expensive Canon L type lenses. BUY THIS HOOD and save yourself $30 !!!

I purchased this hood because…well, I always shoot with a lens hood. There are two versions available for this Canon lens, a “tulip” style, and this one, which is fully round in coverage. I wanted one that bayonets on, because I wanted it to be secure, and I wanted to be able to reverse it. I went aftermarket because I didn’t want to waste the savings I had from finding a great deal on the lens. I chose JJC because I have used their hoods on several different lenses and have been pleased. This one attaches smoothly and positively, both in use and when reversed for storage. There aren’t instructions, so you have to sort out how to install it. Hint: Look for the red dot on the lens and the red marks on the hood. The solid dot on the hood is for shooting installation, the open one is for reversed. The bayonet piece on the inside of the hood is screwed on (like I imagine the Canon one is), rather than just molded in. I would expect this to make it more sturdy and durable. Overall, highly recommended.
