Putting this up took under 30 minutes and it looks great. However, read the negative reviews, pay attention to what you’re doing, and check everything twice.
First, before doing anything, I checked every part to make sure there weren’t any chips. Second, I made sure I knew which legs were ‘G’ and which were ‘F’ (you’ll understand when you see the instruction) AND I checked which way the screw holes were going – in particular, make sure the holes on the backs of the legs line up when you assemble the legs. Third, to make life simpler, I assembled the top half before adding the F and G legs.
With that out of the way, everything was pretty straightforward.
It’s a little smaller in size and the wood darker in colour than I’d expected, but it looks great in the background of my livestreams/videos

I had a pretty bad experience with this bookshelf. The original intent was to have it match our new desk, also from Songmics. The desk has been great so far, and we had no issues putting it together. However, this was a completely opposite experience. First off, when we opened the box we had all of the parts available to build it, but we couldn’t find the hardware anywhere. I had to reach out to Songmics customer service to get hardware sent, and they were great to speak to and responsive. However, when we got the new hardware in the mail it was missing pieces! No matter, as the screws they did send did not fit the holes drilled into the bookshelf anyway. Even if they included everything we needed, this thing would not have been sturdy at all. The instructions to put this together were terrible as well. We ended up returning it, and we most likely won’t be purchasing more Songmics furniture in the near future, despite our good experience with the desk.

Not overly impressed with this shelf unit. Have ordered 3 in total….. and none of them are flawless/without problems.
The first one the legs are backwards so the holes for the criss cross detail are on the front versus the back. Which makes it impossible to use it. But still usable.
The second one the legs are a little uneven and the criss cross doesn’t fit even though the legs are the right way ….. so I can’t use the detail …… but again it’s usable.
The third one is the worst. The above part of the bookshelf is cut wrong so it can not be put together. I will attach a photo to show. Both legs should be the same length so that the proper legs can be matched up to the holes and so that they are the proper length. So my only option is to return it which is extremely inconvenient. Luckily I kept the box and packing and it isn’t damaged. So now I have to try and get it back how it belongs and bring it somewhere to send it back. No other option given. Extremely hesitant to order another one but need another to match the other two! Very frustrating. The fact that I have to send this 20+ pound box back only so it can be thrown out is silly and a waste of resources.

Nothing to complain about the design of this shelf: it looks really nice and realistic, even if it isn’t made of solide wood. Unfortunately, assembling it was a pain! It took hours and the help of 2 friends. The instructions aren’t clear, but even worst is that some holes don’t correspond. So, I ended up with two screw that could be thightened. I do not recommend it, although it is really nice.

Customer service reached out very quickly after I published my review. They kindly offered me a new ladder shelf or a money refund because they are sure it’s a single item problem. I got my money back very quickly, and a great support from customer service.

Great product! Very very sturdy and great quality
If anyone cares, make sure that the bottom back poles are the ones that have the tiny hole on the outside to attach the crossed piece in the back…. I did not do that because I was getting ansy and wanted to put it together fast so ours just doesn’t have that little decorative feature.. OOPS!

The shelf is aesthetically pleasing. It’s fairly simple to set up except several of my pieces weren’t labelled … so that made it challenging. Many of the screws I was given were stripped and unusable. Luckily we had our own that fit. I really like the way this looks, but based on this experience I would probably buy from a different seller. I would not recommend buying this product from this seller.

Arrived earlier than expected and nicely packaged. The wood shelves look so much better than I expected. You can actually see the grain. Not a single nick on any of the wood shelves.
All the holes lined up exactly. I read lots of reviews before buying this shelf and it was very Helpful to know to keep the “X” holes on the back of the frame. I can see how it would be easily missed and then you’d have to redo the assembly if the lower back legs are facing the wrong way. My daughter and I assembled it in around 30 mins and was super easy to build
I love the sleek frame which connects seamlessly (unlike other ladder shelves which have screws showing at the joints). Very sturdy! But even with it being sturdy, I wouldn’t place anything irreplaceable on it.
Fits exactly in the spot I wanted and I love that it’s helping me with extra space for my plant addiction. Can’t wait to style it with more accessories. Even better that it fit my budget!
Love it so much and highly recommend it. My friend got one too! We’ll be enjoying this purchase for years! This is my best Amazon purchase Ever and sparks so much joy.

Great shelf, looks and feels stronger than you’d think. I could tell by the weight of the box that either the wood or the metal was good stuff and yes the metal is very strong feeling and the wood is pretty good too.
Some issues.. DO NOT use the included allen key it doesn’t go far enough into the groove of the bolts and it will strip them. maybe the paint coating on the key is making it slightly too large. Another concerning thing is how easily it can tip in either direction. I have to have the two adjustable feet almost completely unscrewed to level out the shelf perfectly using a bubble leveler to know when i’m centered.. definitely use the straps to attach it to a wall or something.

Everything was in the box, but two sides were the same (was sent a 2x left top side of metal part), so had to deal with hollow holes on one side only.
Assembled every shelved, A&B (bottom) seems Ok in terms of levelling (tried to hold bottle of wine on the side to test it.. stays there), but C was slightly inclined (bottle is rolling slowly), D even more.. and top shelf (E) is terrible (the bottle test failed instantly, rolling quickly).
I added 2 stars because at least it looks good, but I am surely turned off since the price is as high as what we can get at Ikea, for low level of quality.
If you consider buying it, also, be careful when handling as it scratches really easily (both on metal and wood).

and have received and assembled the first three on that list so far…..
Apart from the fact that they are 🇨🇦 locally shipped for free (prime) quickly and have a return policy, each of these came extremely well packaged, with foam, plastics etc. The boxes are rather heavy and compact.
Each part came assigned with a part number and matching screws etc were very neatly packaged in separate compartments. The instructions were mainly diagram based and if you look at each part shown on them (and compare to each part you are about to use – especially the amount and location of screw holes) you can’t go wrong ! TIPS: (1) as they recommend, better two people build it/help out to prevent shelves and panels tipping over with only few screws in – esp. in beginning stages. (2) It comes with allen keys, but I suggest you hold a bigger flat point plus a smaller star screwdriver close by for assembly.
Each of these items received thus far have EXCEEDED our expectations from the word go by far. We’ve found no flaws, no missing items or parts at all, no flimsyness. They have been WELL designed and the materials are fabulous. The assembled products look fantastic too ! Innovative and modern as well. WAY, WAY better quality than I have seen at many local retailers ! ….. and the price of these are fantastic !
I can’t give anything but 5⭐️ for each of these !

Considering there were not do many reviews I was a bit sceptical about buying this product, but niw I am soooo glad I decided to still get it! I will not lie, it was a workout putting it together because top metal parts seemed not to be fitting properly the bottom metal parts so it requiered some streching and muscles, but in the end I finally made it (that is the only reason I give it 4 instead or 5 stars, because parts didnt seem to fit exactely), other than that I am very picky about what looks cheap and what looks like quality and I can freely say that what was delivered to me looks beautiful and of a great quality! Dont hesitate to buy it! Its so beautiful (and super useful) you will not regret it (just prepare to sweat in order to put it together) 💖🌸

Very heavy, sturdy unit. Some issues with assembly, although instructions are OK as are pre-drilled holes. Much easier to stand it up, partially screw in the shelf supports and then tighten after all are seated. Lastly, screw in the back X support. You need a hex bit with power screwdriver; no tool supplied. Definitely need 2 people to assemble/adjust the different legs. Arrived in perfect condition. We love this, exceeded expectations. Just ordered a second one.
