This is a great mic/audio recorder. I actually use it for recording my drums because I don’t have the room for a 7 mic setup or anything like that. However, it has come in handy for a lot of other things, helping the kids with school projects, zoom calls, sound effect recordings for videos, voice-overs etc
I haven’t used it for interviews or podcasts but, it would be perfect for that. Portable, good sound quality, easy to use. Very good for the price.

El equipo es muy bueno, fácil de usar y completo, lo único que me molestó es como lo empacaron, la caja la pusieron dentro de una mas grande sin colchones de aire ni nada que lo proteja de golpes durante el envío, el transportista se bajó de su vehículo moviendo la caja como una sonaja, es lo peor que le puedes hacer a un micrófono tan sensible. Afortunadamente funciona bien y espero que no tenga un problema con el tiempo.

I purchased a wind sock (fur) as well, I had problems with wind noise when using my camera and cannot add a windsock the way the mikes are placed so I needed an external recorder, this thing is perfect, it records easily and has tons of great features like marks, I hit mark and when I import the audio to sync with my video the marks are supported in the video editor… AWSOME! This has every bit as good sound quality as my studio mike… Great Buy and easy to use…

La verdad una gran compra. En mi caso lo adquirí para ASMR y es genial. excelente fidelidad y el mic derecho e izquierdo te permite separar los sonidos para causar una sensación de realidad tipo 3d.
es una hermosura de grabadora. el material es de plastico. pero lo olvidaras al ver la funcionalidad.
Nota : no trae tarjeta micro sd ni cable para conectar a la mac o pc. aun así el precio es bastante bueno.
es facil de usar,. si planeas hacer ASMR es un excelente producto. <3

It takes some work to figure it out, but once you do it is so easy and so worth it! I am a musician and used it earlier in the day to record myself singing at a performance. It’s so useful and handy to have. Good for journalism, interviews, music, ASMR, an all around great little recorder that you can plug into your computer and use as your computer mic too! I’m so happy to have this recorder.

Unable to review as yet since neither a memory card nor a USB cable was included.
Somewhat pointlessly, however, batteries were supplied.
How hard would it be to state clearly what is and is not included so that one knows exactly what else might need to be ordered at the same time?!
I shall update here when these irritations are solved but this has already reduced the upper limit of its ultimate star rating.

Read all the reviews checked out what some of the motorvloggers were using so ordered one up. Would give it a higher rating but had issues with external mic. If there was better user manual I won’t have wasted 3 videos with no sound. You need an adapter 4 pin to 3 pin I think looks exactly the same as the 3.5mm plug. Found one plugged it in and works great now.

It’s my second Tascam portable recorder and Tascam always made very good product . I had DR-05 before and change it for DR-05x for the USB Audio interface mode. I use it as microphone and sound card with TEAMS and ZOOM and the sound is very clear compare to my pc sound card . The record at 96kHz 24 bits is very very clear and details with microphone and line in . I use it also for recording music using line in and the record is very good and natural. Very happy and recommend it .

Giving this 4 stars because it’s great and the sound quality is amazing for the price. Plus it’s easy to use, however…
I know, electronics and water do not mix. But for this little recorder, when the manual says “do not use near water”, they literally mean within 5 feet of running water. For whatever reason, I get bad signal interference (think of that cell phone near a speaker ‘bzz bzz bzz’ thing that used to happen a lot) whenever this device is near a running water source. Be it my bathroom sink, kitchen sink, or even on a dock at a lake. Probably poor shielding? However, I’ve left my cell phone next to it while recording and haven’t had a single issue there. Just wanted to point this out to anyone who may want to record the sounds of running water for whatever reason.
Regardless, I still recommend it. I was floored how good the sound quality was from it, and still am every time I import an audio file that wasn’t recorded near a body of water.

Bought this device to capture ambient sounds and FX to put behind silent Super 8 footage.
It’s a great device and the software is really intuitive, very easy to set up and just makes sense from the get go.
really like the feature of the quick menu button to quickly change between recording setting, etc.
Another handy feature is the built tuner for musical instruments.
Would give it 5 stars BUT there’s a pretty big issue that I didn’t realise plagues most Tascam recorders until buying this unit. There’s quite a bad RF Interference issue. I have to put my phone onto flight mode to avoid this. It’ll pickup interference from my phone from just over 1m away. This isn’t such an issue for me but I can imagine it will be a dealbreaker for most users.

I’ve used this for a week now for interview recordings, and the sound is great. Not sure about battery life… still too soon to know. But its easy to use and affordable.

Great recorder. Definitely picks up Everywhere around it (omni mic) so make sure that’s what you want. I do recommend getting the boya shock mount for it and a stand, that’ll lessen any impact noises if it’s on a table or something.

Excelente grabadora, al inicio pense que me habia equivocado, mis grabaciones sonaban como de un celular, pero me di cuenta que tenia la calidad de grabación muy baja. Se soluciono el problema y es espectacular el sonido. Efectivamente es de plastico pero a cambio es muy ligera y portable
