Over time using my DVD players I would run across DVD’s that didn’t work properly. The second player would not play some of myDVD’s. I wanted to be able to get Region 2 and 3’s because a lot of movies only come out of Europe or
Australia. Then I discovered Sony made multi region players. I did not know this and most Electronic retailers never did
advertise them. Retailers in Canada & U.S. keep them secretive from the Public. I found after going through the Internet, that they were indeed on sale, you just had to search. Duh!!!!
What I wanted and needed was reasonably priced and immediately purchased it.
The player worked like a charm and couldn’t be happier. It is frustrating to this day that movies a lot of seek are produced only in Europe or beyond. The main producers of DVD’s should be chagrinned by keeping them from us here
    in North America.

Sony is still putting out great machines. I did my research, bought this one, and am very glad that I did! The DVD/BlueRay/All Regions in the World recording styles reads the disc and figures out what “language” to shift to. It does this all when it first starts up. All you have to do is give it a few seconds, and it seamlessly reads the disc, regardless of which region of the world it was recorded in.

I have been struggling with DVD’s which have not been recorded for Region 2 (the USA). The Hollywood film from 1967, “The Honey Pot,” is a hysterical but very clever romp set in Rome and starring Rex Harrison. I saw the movie in a theatre in 1967 and wanted to buy the disc and see it again all these years later. And the disc arrived, recorded in Region 1 (Europe!). So American DVD players won’t read the disc! Very disappointing! What’s up with THAT?!! I had to purchase a second disc, this time careful that it was recorded in the USA.

No worries now. This machine plays them all effortlessly. My favourite series which was filmed in the UK, (the longest televised TV sitcom in the world) was only available (all seasons, all episodes) in Region 1 (European) mode. This machine plays the discs flawlessly. It plays “PAL” mode.

This is a terrific machine. Small, lightweight, compact, and it works like a dream!

    (English below…)
Étrangement, ce lecteur “multizone”, acheté au Canada, ne fonctionne pas avec les Blueray de la région A dont fait partie le Canada. Il est clairement dit qu’il lit tous les formats. Ce n’est pas le cas.

Oddly, this “multizone” player, bought in Canada, does not read Region-A discs, while Canada is located in zone A. It clearly states it reads all formats. It does not.

Nearly perfect machine. I have a massive collection of DVDS and BluRays, many of which Andre rare imports that simply cannot be found in North America and I really wanted watch some of them.
I bought this inexpensive little sucker and it plays everything without delay or skipping.
The delivery crew broke mine and rend I had to fix it myself before it would play anything but it’s not an issue with the player, it’s an inexpensive sue with the idiots that jammed it between my screen door and the actual front door (half way up the door).

    100% would recommend

I was very satisfied with this player from the day I bought it, until about midnight tonight, when it died. Easy to use, picture was fine, remote worked and wasn’t complicated and I enjoyed watching DVDs from various regions. However, tonight it died, and now I have to replace it because I have accumulated a large number of other region DVDs that I will not be able to watch without a region free player. I really did expect it to last more than a year before just stopping. Therefore, while I would have recommended it right up until midnight tonight, I no longer do. How very disappointing!

This DVD player is amazing I can play all my DVDs from the UK (and anywhere else for that matter) and I can also order UK format DVDs of my favourite British comedies now that I can play them. I recommend this 100%. I only wish I’d have bought it sooner. May even buy a second one for the bedroom TV.

The product works as specified, but it is a bit difficult to operate. Getting used to how it works takes some time. The instructions are not always as clear as one would like.
It does take disks from other countries and it handles both Blu-Ray and DVD equally well.

Update review!! After the complaint in my last review about it not playing my region B bluray and getting the ‘mismatch region with player region code’ message after literally playing a region 3 disc last month, well, after fiddling with the remote, one has to hit the ‘imput’ button before rhe region code colored button. So problem solved.
Back up to the 5 star rating.

I bought this BD player to replace my old Sony BDP-S350 which has some issues playing some BD discs, even though it is running in the latest updates available. This one resolves my problem. Pictures are good. Unfortunately, there is no wireless set up, only “wired” set up. So all streaming doesn’t work for me. Fortunately, both my TV and Receiver have WiFi, so this is not a huge problem for me. The software can be updated with a USB key. Wireless set up is available in the BDP-S3700 model. I would recommend it over this one if Multi-Region format is not necessary for you. BTW, one reviewer mentioned that the Multi-Region capability is an Add-On installed by the electronic company that sells this, not built-in by Sony. It is true because in the Owner’s menu, the Multi-Region format is not mentioned there. Just so you know.

The vendor (the Bombay guys, not Amazon) takes regular BR/DVD players and hacks them to work in other zones. It worked for one of our European DVD’s but not for one of our European BR’s. I called Sony customer service and they explained that it was a hacked unit…..in fact, they do not make a multi-zone player at all. The only solution they recommended was to have 2 players, one for USA content and one for European, but the European player would not be covered under a USA warranty. Thank you Amazon for taking this back and dealing with it.

This unit has good qualities for different regions, I love that idea but the remote is so big and ungainly hard to hold in arthritic hands..cheaply made .. and NO Wifi included in price.. that is not good value.. my other older one at half the price has it and it works wonderfully but needed a replacement so got this one.. Too much stuff on the remote and no way to control the tv and player with just one remote.. you have to use volume control on tv remote to turn up sound.. This is not a great player for the money but it will do.. I just hope it lasts as I can’t afford another one at this price..

I bought this product because my collection of blu-rays has a lot of region A and region B locked discs. I was happy to see that this player plays everything fine. The cost of the player in India is nearly twice what someone pays in the US, but we don’t have another option if we need a region-free BD player. For blu-rays you have to manually change regions by pressing the correct color button on the remote before inserting the disc, for DVD’s it is automatically region-free.

This is a very basic player and has no display apart from one small light for the power. Functionally it seems identical to the S1200 I had before this (the remote is the same), and it seems a little slower to load discs than that one. Otherwise no complaints. This model doesn’t have wi-fi (S3700 has wi-fi), but I felt it better since I wanted to avoid any automatic firmware updates that break the region-free capability.
