The upper arm is located between the shoulder joint and elbow joint. It contains four muscles - three in the anterior compartment (biceps brachii, brachialis, coracobrachialis), and one in the posterior compartment ( triceps brachii). The triceps brachii, or triceps , is a large, three-headed muscle in the posterior compartment of the arm. It is responsible for extending the forearm and maintaining upper limb stability. Triceps brachii is a three-headed (tri - three, cep - head) muscle of the arm. It represents the only constituent of the posterior muscle group of the arm, spanning almost the entire length of the humerus. The triceps muscle is a main muscle of the upper arm, running from the top of the shoulder to the elbow at the back of the arm. When the triceps muscle contracts, it causes the elbow to straighten.
