Umbra Flex Shower Soap Dish with Patented Gel-Lock Technology Suction Cup

After reattaching my suction cup bar soap holder for the millionth time, I decided to try this Umbra shower corner shelf. I have two other Umbra shower caddies and have been impressed with their quality, holding power, and all plastic construction that prevents rusting and is easy to clean.

While my two other caddies use normal suction cups and a shower head hook, this corner shelf uses gel cups to stick to the wall and they stick impressively well. The first time I went to install them, on thoroughly cleaned and dried tiles, I stuck them in the wrong spot and had to give them a good tug to get the shelf off the wall. I then carefully placed it back on the wall and tightened the clamping screws. This corner shelf sticks very well, and has lots of room for a few bars of soap and shampoo bottles. The bosses that hold the rubber strap to the front also provide good points to hang mesh scrubbers from for drying.

The only issue I can find is that the deep ribs on the dish to promote drying will also make cleaning a bit more difficult. The ribs require a bit more scrubbing or a quick blast with a pressure washer.

Still staying up after many weeks. You HAVE to clean & dry the area before sticking. I can only think, those who say it does not stay up, that they have NOT cleaned the tiles fully first. I’ve got two of these products & they are fabulous. After many years of metal rusting & sticky things falling off, at last an item that works as stated. Really pleased, fast delivery as well.

This shelf is great. Provided the surface is smooth and clean when you install, allow time for the bond to build before loading and that you occasionally tighten the screws, this shelf will stay put under reasonable loads. I wouldn’t expect it to hold more than two salon-size shampoo/conditioner bottles and that might be pushing it – mine currently holds two standard shampoo bottles, face wash, loofah and razor without any problems.

this really helps to keep your shower area tidy and could easily hold a hand towel on tiling if needed. As you can see, we use them for our shower scrunchies, which allows them to dry and not get all smelly and disgusting, if they would if sitting in their own water. The quality of the item is really good and has never fallen off of the tiles. Very sturdy and looks good too.

Working for me! No permission for permanent mounting where I’m staying so took a chance on these. Followed directions exactly. Fell down once after few days…modified position of suction cups to be about 75% from corner, equal distance on both sides, prepared surfaces again, loaded full size shampoo & conditioner, face wash, medium size (about 10 oz) shower oil + couple light hanging accessories and it’s been up over 2 months with no signs of losing grip….checked the twist on the suction cup knobs and they are still tight. I am mindful to balance weight of products so that weight isn’t disproportionate in any direction. Using shower hooks too for razor, scrub brush, wash cloth, loofah. Also using the rectangle outside the shower for hair care: products, brushes, hairclips; soap dishes for makeup – everything has stayed up over 2 months and compensated for zero bathroom counterspace/storage! Love, love, love! (Bathroom is fully tiled.)

I’m not sure why I keep buying suction cup type soap holders. I guess I keep hoping that one day I’ll find one that stays on the wall for a long time. But not this one! Every day I’d place it on the wall, tighten the screw as much as I can, only to find it on the floor the next day. And it’s not like the wall surface will ruin the suction: I have mirror-like smooth Acrylic walls in the shower. I guess it’s time for a glued-on or screw-on soap holder. This one goes to the recycling bin.
