I am giving this a high star review because they do not claim it works as a teleprompter. I tried it, and it doesn’t work as well as I expected. However, as a shoe-based phone mount, it is a good item so five stars.
COULD THIS WORK AS PHONE TELEPROMPTER?
I have a SONY ZV-1 camera and I use it at top of my home office monitor for Zoom calls and sometimes for recording business Youtube video. I was curious how well this camera mount for phone would work with the phone as a “teleprompter.” It seemed a lot easier that big apparatus with big mirrors and so on. There’s even a company that offers free website based teleprompter reading software (no fee, no app) that will scroll on a phone.
DID NOT WORK WELL, AS PHONE TELEPROMPTER (ANGLE TOO BIG)
When mounted on top of my SONY ZV-1 camera, the center of my Iphone 12-Mini screen is 4″ above the middle of the lens. I sat about 2-3 feet back (that’s as far back as you could read the phone anyway). I was surprised that (even sitting a couple feet back) it was VERY obvious whether I was looking at the phone, 4″ up above the lens, or whether I was looking right at the lens. Live and learn.
So I am back to shopping for a “real” but economical teleprompter with a 45 degree mirror.

Plastic. Pretty flimsy. Not worth the price.

This is my 2nd phone holder and I must say that this is more solidly built as compared to my 1st one. I bought this to work together with ULANZI MT-08. Highly recommended.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking at these tripod mounts as the one that came with my tripod was not good. I thought this would be sturdier than it is. It does not use a spring or a screw but rather has a ratchet mount. That makes it easy to get the phone off but is not as secure as a screw. The other problem is that the holder is not really thick enough to mount a iPhone 12 pro max with a case. Taking the case off to mount the phone is a pain. The angle adjustment is useful because it gives you another way along with the tripod adjustments to set the angle correctly but it seems like it would be easy to snap off.

This is garbage, it will not hold an iPhone straight and the locking mechanism is terrible and cheap. Do not waste your money on this. Quality is comparable to dollar store mounts. I honestly cannot believe they put their name on garbage like this.

Around the axis of a carousel: rotates 360 degrees but can’t be tightened to prevent it from deviating from the angle that you chose, e.g., if a passerby brushes against it or if the ground vibrates.
Around the axis of a somersault: rotates 135 degrees. The furthest backward it faces is straight up. The furthest forward it faces is halfway between level and straight down. It can be tightened to keep it at the angle that you chose.
Around the axis of the hands of a clock: rotates 360 degrees. It can be tightened to keep it at the angle that you chose.

It is what it is for the price. Cheaply made. It doesn’t hold onto the phone very tightly so easily falls out. Kinda rickety as in it wobbles so I wouldn’t trust it.

I could have given 5 stars but the unit since the buid quality is fine. SHOULD come with a important warning of not unscrewing the tiny scews in its back. No instruction were supplied and it seemed obvious to simply pull the two holding claws to provide space for inserting my iPhone. But the unit was struck and this could not be done with reasonable effort, Started uncrewing the 2 tiny screws to release but unit renained stuck. Unscred all the way (this was a BIG mistake) and applied a strong pull. Unit opened up but a miniscule spring and plastic piece jumped out. Could then note these were intended for controlling the width of the claw with a clever ratchet mechanism. Attempts to rassemble was utterly futile. Jury rigged the unit by inserting a couple of tiny tape strips (green on the picture), providing enough friction to make the unit usable (with rubber band for increased claw pressure)

This is more like a $5-10 dollar product, not a $20+
