Makes great rice. Convenient and consistent. Everything you expect from a Tiger. Some things that I would hope for improvement, but I’m happy with regardless – (1) takes a bit longer than my old conventional rice cooker, (2) no sound indicator to inform of cooking complete, (3) there is no water trap/dew collector, and the design is such that it just pools into the frame of the machine, which in the long run gets a bit gross.

In all honesty I can say that this is exactly what I needed. Makes cooking rice easy. For someone who has never used a rice cooker in the past, this has definitely helped me eat more rice because is super easy. Use the scoop, rice the rice, add the water, close and push the button, that easy. I got the 5 Cup cooker and can say I was surprised that there weren’t many reviews or.much information. But it’s definitely worth the money.

I had my original one for about 7 years (same model and size) which I used 2-3 times per week. It still worked perfectly until it was accidentally knocked off the table and cracked the plastic shell around the inner metal cooking element a few weeks ago. I was devastated as it’s not an easy model to find. I was thrilled to find the exact same model and size here on Amazon for a great price and ordered it immediately and it arrived within a few days. I highly recommend this rice cooker to anyone it is amazing and cooks perfect rice every time. I find the 10 cup is great for a family of 4 as I always like to make extra for lunches.

As a Vancouver man, rice and asian cuisine is just a part of my life. I cook a lot of rice, and until splurging on this Tiger rice cooker, I was using a pretty cheap brand.
The Tiger is just so much better in every way, and is very worth the money for anyone that cooks a lot of rice, and is tired of cheaper rice cookers drying out the rice on the bottom and borderline burning it.
The only issue I’ve had with the Tiger rice cooker is the steamer. It almost works too fast, at least if you like your veggies to still have some firmness to them. If I select the synchro-cooking option and do like rice with steamed broccoli, I find that I need to take the broccoli out early, or risk oversteaming it and losing all the crunch and snap of veggies. The benefit of this though is that I’m able to steam multiple batches of broccoli within the same time window for cooking the rice. I do however wish that the veggie holder for steaming was a bit deeper so that I could steam more veggies at the same time. But it’s not really a big deal when you’re just cooking for a couple people.
If you want a high quality rice cooker, the Tiger is the way to go. They are not cheap, but the quality of rice produced is just so much better than what you get from a cheap rice cooker. Believe me, Tiger is worth the investment.

Super happy with this rice cooker, first time use was a perfect success. Was debating on getting the JBV-S, but decided on this one since the JBV-S would one day need a battery replacement once the lithium battery dies… or so I read in the manuel on the TIGER website online.
Overall, this rice cooker (JBV-A10U 5.5 cup) is awesome for the price and very simple to use; measured 2 cups with the provided measuring cup, rinsed the short-grain rice till the water was clear, filled the pot with water to exactly the “2” mark for [Plain] rice, dry off any water on the outside of the pot, insert pot in rice cooker, and press the [Plain] rice button. It took about 25 mins to cook and then it switched to keep warm. The rice tasted so great!
Some tips I found online to keep the inner pot intact over many years and from peeling is to wash the rice in a separate bowl and then transfer it into the rice cooker pot… not sure if this is necessary but perhaps it will help.
Note, the only thing that is strange is that the inside of the lid had a small 2.5cm scratch, but it did not affect the rice cookers performance.
Delivery: it was estimated to take five – six days for delivery and I was so excited that it arrived early; it only took two days!
If you are wondering, because I once did, I was worried that the steamer would spew out water from the pressure control cap since there were images of this happening in some of the reviews, well it didn’t, and I will add it to the review if it ever does it in the future. It’s so simple to use, rice tastes wonderful. Great quality rice cooker.

My son and I eat rice almost everyday. This rice cooker is awesome! We also eat steamed veg with it. He likes broccoli and I also like zucchini and red peppers. Steams them perfectly with the rice without the steam dripping down into the rice (the beautiful thing about the ta-cook plate). Make sure to leave the veg in larger chunks. It’s ok if they touch the lid. I haven’t tried meat yet, but I’ll be trying that when it’s just me using it. I’m totally upgrading to a Tiger IH (induction heat) one when he moves out and he can take this one. But for now, it will remain on my counter beside the coffee pot.

It does what it promises and it does so in an efficient and extremely simple way. That is the main appeal of this product, how incredibly simple it is to use. Two thumbs up.

Using plain long grain white rice, my results have been mixed. The rice comes out almost al dente when following the exact measurements it calls for so I’ve had to use a bit more water. This is frustrating because part of the reason I’m using a rice cooker is to make this process simple and not have to do any guesswork.
Also, the lid swings opens really fast, so fast that it causes the unit to jump back when the lid finally comes to a halt. I have to use my hand to stop it mid-swing and then let it finish opening gently, but this can be dangerous when hot steam is rapidly coming out of the sides and from the top vent at the end of a cooking cycle. Contacted Tiger and they said this is normal; unfortunately it’s also a poor design choice.
I also really wish there was an audio signal to let me know when the cooking cycle ends.

Me encanta.

I did a lot of research before buying this little guy. It’s a perfect size for 2- 4 servings. I use it to make plain and brown rice. Both turn out perfect. I’ve also tried making lentil in this and not too bad- you have to play around with the water amount. I like the steamer basket too- just don’t add the vegetables to soon as it cooks quite quick! I’ve had it for a few years and so far my favourite appliance.
