I had this for over a year and only used it twice. No matter how much you prep this mortar. You will still get granite dust particles. I researched and prepared it for use with rice and water. Grind for 2 hours straight. NO JOKE until rice became a paste. After the mortar still produces granite particles.

Now it’s left on the counter. Wouldn’t recommend buying it. I rarely used it, so return date was way over. Recommend finding something else that’s not granite

For my sisters out there, I have tested this mortar and pestle to act as an altar bowl and it works perfectly.

    This /is/ indeed fire safe.

Do be mindful however of the size of your mortar and pestle. I would recommend going with the larger bowl so there is more room for mixing your herbs and ingredients together.

    Blessed be. ♡

Works perfectly. My old one was a smaller one and i didn’t think I would need a bigger size. However; having this size I realize that I can do more with it than with the previous one. Also the heavy weight and the anti-slippery something on the bottom makes it very steady while working with it. It is also a beautiful peace, a decoration of my kitchen. Really good value for the money. Cannot comment on sturdiness as I just bought a week ago. My impression is that it will last for a long time…. I’m really glad I bought it.

even after washing it, it leaves small dust like particles from the mortar. after crushing garlic I noticed very small particles of the mortar into the garlic paste.

Very tiny, which is annoying if you try to crush large, round hard items like coriander seeds (they pop out of the bowl and go all over your kitchen unless you cover the opening) – but I like the idea of a small and neat one so still love it. It’s study and heavy, and seems like good quality.

I ordered this mortar and pestle to grind cardamom seeds. It was perfect for what I wanted to do and it is very sturdy if used carefully. I chose this smaller version of pestle and mortar because I needed to store without using too much space.

It’s not durable with all the money I paid.. broken already.. ginger and garlic are not that strong

We bought this set for our dog’s medicine. It is absolutely perfect to grind down the smallest of pills and it’s perfectly smooth. No rough bits , which makes it really easy to clean.
I would highly recommend this product.

I have a 5.5″ model. It’s weighty enough that it will not move in use, especially with the non-slip pad. The weight of the pestle also adds to the efficiency of grinding. The extra pestle is appreciated. Finally, I had never owned a garlic peeler, and now I can’t part with it-it truly makes the task easy to accomplish. The unit is also quite handsome in a minimalist kitchen.

Magnets do not stick to it, so it is not made of stainless steel, however it works fine, has good heft and is easy to clean.

A 2 cup mortar and pestle is not super easy to find, and I wanted the abrasive grinding power of granite. This could not be more granite. It’s a big ol’ rock cut into a bowl. The whole deal is rough-hewn so cleanup is not super easy, but it really only needs a quick swish out with a brush. I’m fairly sure the archeologists of year 4021 will dig this up in perfect condition; native spices of our time fossilized in the bottom. Who knows what happened to our civilization… Pandemic?

Pestle is longer than it should be in relation to the depth of the bowl part .no big deal but means pestle a bit precarious in terms of me knocking it out and breaking it . Quality of material and finish is fine
