Very good quality. Camera shoots good pic. One con is lack of image stabilizer. Lenses stabilizer cheesy not working as it’s shown on You Tube videos. You wanna shoot videos in stable mood have to use gimbal or tripod. Framing function is useless. It shoots only one format video. Three frame formats on the screen don’t add anything. Just white lines without any purpose. Coded videos have large files. 4K video code is uploading for ever. I couldn’t write any function coded video on my MACBOOK PRO 2015 although I have the newest software installed. I could upload videos on I Movie through USB cable but time of uploading was over 30 min. For 5 clips each about 3 minutes long. Those people from You Tube who advertise 4K video capacity for 2 or 3 hours of constant recording simply lie. Uploading such a big file takes maybe 24 hours if you have proper program installed on your Lap Top. You cannot record more than 30 or 45 minutes on one battery charge of constant recording. Or even less. Batteries are very weak and go out of power fast. Be careful when buying this camera.

Ordered this camera ahead of my vacation after reading the good reviews about it. When I got it, right out of the box, on my first attempt to take a picture I got a “Camera Error” message and camera froze. Message suggested to turn it off then back on but the switch was irresponsive during this state. The only way to reset it was to take the battery out. I thought maybe this is just a one time thing, some configuration problem, but no, I was getting that everytime I press the button to take a picture. Searching on the internet I found that this seems to be a common problem with this camera. Now I have to return it asking for a replacement and hoping that I get a functional one in time before my vacation starts. Looking at this now, I feel like I paid $1500 for a “brick”. Hope that the replacement I get doesn’t have this problem and I get to enjoy this camera
UPDATE: Got the replacement from Amazon. This is indeed a good camera, with lots of features for a beginner like me to play with, well worth the money.

Unfortunately, I cannot give this camera above one star. I have a YouTube channel and upload about two videos a week. So I really depend on a good camera for the integrity of my channel. I bought this camera five months ago and was pleased with it, and thought it produced nice quality videos. Yesterday I sat down to film a video and when I flipped up the viewfinder, I was upside down. I closed it. I turned it off. I took out the battery. I did everything I thought of to make myself right side up, but to no avail. I had to abandon filming my video, as it is a bit difficult to do a tutorial on eyeshadow placement, when your eyes are where your chin usually is! I couldn’t film that day, and today I worked on it more. I spent time in live chat with a Sony representative who, after waiting a long time, told me, “we don’t know why it’s doing this. It isn’t supposed to”. And that was that. After owning this camera for only five months, I now have to invest in a monitor to even see myself right side up. If you are wanting to start a YouTube channel, I would bypass this camera. For it to fail after five months, considering what it costs, is bad. And don’t expect any help from Sony!
****Update, after asking Sony if they could please replace this camera, they said the best they would do was to have it repaired. They sent it to a repair company and they’ve had if for almost two weeks and haven’t repaired it yet. This has been just horrible. I have no idea if or when I will get back this camera and if it will work or not.

First of all, I have to say that this is my first camera with interchangeable lenses. I have owned it for about a month and I am still learning to use it. This camera offers many possibilities and it has a good auto mode for those who start using it without any time to read the instruction manual. The IQ is good, the size is adequate for travelling (not as compact as my Canon Powershot S120) but obviously the capabilities are way different and it feels high quality and sturdy. I hesitated between buying a Fujifilm XT-30 and this one and I went with Sony because of the cheaper lenses and the selfie-tiltable screen. No regrets so far.

This is a sony camera which is worth its name however this one has a mechanical failure which does not border me at all. When I turn off the camera the lens stays where it is until I turn it on and off back and forth. Other than that the image quality remains good, autofocus works well…

This thing is great, worth every penny! It continues to impress me everyday, and with each lens added to it, it does more and more. For an amateur to intermediate photographer, you couldn’t ask for more in a camera. The cropped sensor does make finding appropriate focal length lenses a bit of a pain, but there is a lot of selection out there, so it’s not impossible!

Everything seems good about the camera.
We received it within a week. Satisfied with the purchase the only thing is that the camera didn’t have a seal on it when we received it.

Great compact camera for a reasonable price. I do a lot of hiking and it’s great. Better than bigger cameras, great picture quality. Still learning to make better photos and this camera is ideal. Not worth to spent thousands on full frame body + even more on full frame lenses. After a year I upgraded lenses and it’s even better. I suggest to get sony 18-105mm and 70-350mm. That’s all I need (for now 🙂 ).

Love this thing. I already own the Sony a7III and this is the perfect companion to it. It does not have IBIS, but that’s a small trade-off for the awesome price. The video is also awesome. Up to 120fps 1080! My only two gripes are that it charges via micro B, and it doesn’t have a headphone jack. (It does have a mic jack, though!)

I’ve had the Sony A6400 for about 1.5 years now and I definitely regret buying it, I wish I would have bought a camera other than Sony. My main complaint is that this camera is extremely difficult to set up, you basically need to be an expert to learn how to use it. If you do figure it out, but you don’t use it for a while, you will need to relearn everything. Many many of the settings are counter intuitive, for example the auto focus mode ‘Automatic AF AF-A’ actually doesn’t autofocus, what it does is focus once at the beginning of a video and then it STOPS autofocussing, so when you review your video later one it will be all out of focuss, the setting you want is AF-C (continuous AF). This is really just the tip of the iceberg, one wrong setting and your pictures will be terrible. Probably half of the pictures I’ve taken are out of focus or otherwise just bad. There is so much more that’s terrible about this camera I could write a book about it.
The camera really just is not user friendly at all. For example there is a dial on the camera with different setting that are: MR, M, S, A, P,…but when you switch to the setting, Sony didn’t even have the decency to display what the setting is, it just says ‘S’ for example. I guess you have the find the manual on line and memorize what each of the letters stands for. Or you could guess, but this camera is not intuitive at all, so who knows.
The other really bad thing about this camera is the Sony app for your phone, its just awfull!! Its very difficult to get it to connect via bluetooth to your phone, and I’ve tried it on two phones now. I can get it to connect though sometimes, but it takes about 20 or 30 minutes of playing with it to get it to work. Once the app is actually working, it has limited functionality wrt to actually controling the camera.
Overall, I am very disappointed in this camera, its way to difficult to use and actually get decent pictures. Unless you are a professional, I wouldn’t buy a Sony.

I bought a Sony A6400 Used Like-New for a Hawaii trip that I was taking and it arrived 2 days before the trip, but battery was dead and wouldn’t charge. I went out and bought a separate wall charger and battery from Best Buy and charged the battery fully to 3 green boxes and the camera still would not power on. This is a complete dud and I can’t believe Amazon didn’t at least test to see if it works before selling it as a “like-new” item. Now I won’t have a camera for my vacation. Also this camera had a bunch of grease in the crevices and did not look like it was “like-new”. I’ve had great experience in the past buying from Amazon warehouse deals, but this purchase was horrible and it’s an expensive item so it’s very upsetting that they don’t test things before sending them out.

Update: before large research on the web I find a few people that have the same issue and they said it was the fluorescent light. So don’t be like me and get scared if you saw some greenish pictures indoor, maybe is because you are in a room whit fluorescent light, but if you increase your shutter speed, that problem goes away. In the outdoors my camera works well. Seems that the problem is with the artificial light.
If you are an amateur like me, Be sure to use an OSS sony lens.
First post: I was waiting so much for my camera and now I’m so sad… I don’t know why it is taking pictures tainted green … the camera arrive today and I don’t know what to do… I also try whit another lens (a new sigma 30 mm 1.4) and is the same green tint in the pictures.
