None of the voice assistants (Alexa or Google) can be activated in India as this has not been allowed by Sonos yet in India. Thus, for people looking at this as a high quality ‘smart’ speaker, you will, unfortunately, have to look somewhere else.

UPDATE:
Still ongoing issues. Now Beam just drops out of home theater group altogether. Been buying stereo systems for almost 25 years now and this has been the most expensive nightmare. Good luck getting support when you need it. Spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why I wasn’t getting sound from devices plugged in, spent another 20 waiting for their 24/7 customer service then I discovered that the Beam magically disappeared from the software. Come to find out this is a known issue that just happens?!
Now I’ve got to move around too much in my theater cabinet to be able to power cycle/factory reset and repair the whole group, then probably have to pair again with my Logi remote.
Movie night cancelled. Buyer beware.
Oh yea, CS finally came to chat after 30 minutes.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I purchased a pair of Sonos ones to add music into my living room. So far I consider it a huge waste of money. Not only are these speakers overpriced but constantly run into issues. First of all, the speakers that I have set up as a pair in the room constantly disconnect. I have to go through the process of removing the stereo pair and setting them up again quite frequently, however, Sonos customer support doesn’t seem to consider this an issue and continually walks me through the same steps that I can undergo myself. It’s a nuisance to have to go through this process every time I want to listen to music. Secondly, I purchased the Sonos brand specifically because it was Alexa enabled, however, with the constant disconnections all you get is a error response which is super annoying. Also, as a Canadian heads up, you cannot stream your Amazon Prime music to these even if you’re paying for the service. You can also not stream Spotify, unless you are a premium member. All of this means that the Expensive sonos speakers you purchased are quite restricted as to what you can play. Remember, these speakers are not like bluetooth ones.
For me, a person who paid to get premium Amazon Music to play on my new speakers, I’m left disappointed to only be able to stream music from my Plex server or local radio. If I could do it again, I would neither invested money into the pair of Sonos Ones upstairs, or the Beam/One/Woofer 5.1 I put in the Mancave
UPDATE: You’ll receive countless emails from the company on products and asking for reviews; in my experience, attempting to leave a negative review just errors out which means you’ve wasted your time. Changing rating from 2 to 1
UPDATEUPDATE: Be prepared for even more emails from Sonos and having any negative reviews entered through their site will error out on you. Stay away from Sonos!

I’ve got 6 or 7 SONOS components so far and I cannot be happier with the whole system (well, I’ll be happier when I have all 12 that I “need” 🙂
The quality is high, the look is good, they’re easy to use, and easy to set up (I’ve called the help line twice when doing set up and even though it was obvious what I was doing wrong, the customer support was excellent—-patient and friendly.) I absolutely love this company!

This Sonos One is my 11th Sonos device! I have been a huge fan for the last 9 years, and have been collecting them since then. I am so thrilled to find most of them are now available on Amazon India, and at fairly reasonable prices (comparable if you import them, after paying duties and shipping)!
For those who can’t get Alexa to work in India, there is a work around that works just fine, and requires VPN momentarily, only to get the Sonos Skill in the Alexa app. VPN not required after the skill is set up.
I can access Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, and others, using the Alexa voice command. Just say ‘Play xxx from Apple Music (or Spotify etc.)’. NO VPN.
The One Gen 2 does NOT support bluetooth (only the Move and Roam do), but does support Airplay. Also, no hi-res HD music support. Yet.
I use Sonos everyday, across the home, have been for years, and I love the sound for the size/form-factor). Most importantly, the convenience of listening to ANY music, from anywhere, ANY time. Worth every penny I’ve invested in Sonos products!
Now just waiting for the Roam to show up…
Thank you Amazon India, and LP!

I had been thinking about buying Sonos speakers on and off for about a year, or maybe more. I had watched reviews, read articles, and did a lot of research trying to decide what kind of wireless speakers to get for my main floor.
I had decided on Sonos for a few reasons.
1) Sound quality – I had read a lot of articles about which wireless speakers had great sound quality, and most of the reviews pointed to Sonos (at least for the price point). I was still somewhat unsure if this was just hype or not. What changed it for me it when I want to a pub night for my kids’ school. I was in the large party room in at a restaurant (around 2,000 st ft or so), and we were thinking that the bar had their music way too loud. Later that night, I found out it was not the in-house speakers, but the organizers brought a Sonos Play 5 speaker (just one of them), and that little beast cracked out loud, clear, bass-filled music in this large room with 40-50 people. That is when I said wow!
While the Sonos One speakers are smaller, they are still quite capable of pumping out a very loud, quality sound with good base. Just not as base-filled as the Play 5, but much cheaper. I am very satisfied with the sound.
2) Smart control – I did want a speaker with voice control. Sonos had been hyping that not only did it have built-in Alexa with the Sonos One, but they were about to add Google Home control as well (I have two Google Home devices, so I wanted a consistent experience).
Yet the promise of Google Home keeps getting pushed, and pushed, and pushed. WTF Sonos? Get on with it!
As I was almost about to buy a pair, I found out that a Gen 2 was out. It claimed that all functions were the same, but it had better specs. Knowing this could mean the Google Home upgrade path could be due to hardware specs, I decided to set my eyes on the Gen 2 speakers.
While I have only had them for 1 month (as of May 2019), I have to say this: Sonos, where the heck is Google Home support?
3) Easy to Use – this is where my frustration comes in. Most of the videos I saw said they are super easy to setup. And with the new Gen 2 Sonos One, the setup will be even easier as it was using BLE to simplify the process.
My experience could not be further from this.
–> I started the setup process (get Sonos app, turn on, etc). The beginning went well. The speaker got power, and I was able to get through the first few screens on the Sonos app for setup
–> However, once it came to connecting to my WiFi, it all went to heck
–> The speaker seemed not to connect
–> When it looked like it did, the app count not connect to it (and I verified speaker and iPhone connected to the same network)
–> I had to spend at least an hour trouble shooting, and some how it started working (sort of) and I was able to connect. And that was just speaker 1 or 2.
–> I had similar issues with speaker 2.
–> Note that all other devices in my house connected to the same router had no issues during this time. (Including Google Home, who was laughing at this time at me)
–> I also rebooted my wifi router and modem many times during the process
Setup went from excitement to telling my kids to not play with the boxes as I may be sending it back!!!
4) Reliability – one buys devices like these assuming a certain level of 99.99% reliability. However, once I got them working, and Alexa setup (that was hell #2), more issues cropped up.
The speakers kept losing connection to my WiFi (which was on the same floor, and for the 1st speaking in the same room 14 ft away). I would get the “I’m sorry buy Alexa is having issues right now” or whatever that message was.
Then I tried just steaming from my phone using AirPlay. It would connect, then randomly drop. Sometimes it would work for 2 minutes, sometimes for 20 minutes.
It was hugely frustrating.
BUT THEN, A TECHNICAL MIRACLE BY ODIN WAS THROWN UPON US.
After 3 days of hell, they started working. I had made no more changes in the past day or so. No WiFi resets. No modem reboots. No turning on and off the Sonos speakers. It just worked.
I don’t know why. I don’t know how. But now, I am happy with it’s performance, but scarred from the first few days.
Would I get one again? Maybe. I hope it is a case that the Gen 2 are so new that perhaps a patch was downloaded to improve their issues.
If you are looking for standard reliability, a slightly lower price, and don’t need the newest stuff, try the Gen 1 speaks.

Otherwise, buy these as great speakers but know they first few days will hurt.
If I did not have these issues, I’d say 4.5, maybe even 5 stars for how they work now.

So I was initially weary from the negative reviews but honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this device. I didn’t want to commit to Alexa or Google assistant but I wanted a great sounding smart speaker. This allows me to switch between Alexa and Google when I want so I can try both AND this. Thing. Sounds. Incredible. I’m not lying that within 5 minute’s I ordered a second one and now have full surround sound in my loving room / kitchen and it blows everyone away.
If you’re looking for incredible sound, Alexa + Google assistant and to get into the incredible world of Sonos…. This is it. You can’t beat two of these things synced, the bass, highs, lows.. it’s all incredible
I would give this 6/5 stars if I could.
I’m now a Sonos man and will never go back

This has amazing sound, but cannot resolve between spotify and Amazon music. Often disconnects and will not respond to voice command, or accepts a command but does not play the music. Works fine when controlled from the app on the phone. Cannot get it to play multi-room with Amazon Eco-dots…. Dissapointed in the automation integreation. I could have purchased any number of great speakers. This was supposed to be easy to configure and integrate with Amazon home systems. …
