For the price, I don’t think you can do any better. I have this lens 100% of the time on my Sony s5100 for streaming and vlogging. It was the best upgrade from the kit lens that I have ever done.
Vignetting is kept totally under control. Sharpness is almost perfect wide open at f/1.4 except for a little bit of softness and stretching in the corners.
I am in disbelief at how buttery smooth and fast the autofocus is on this lens. Just be somewhat mindful of the focus ring which can get easily jarred since it is so smooth and easy to knock, but that is but a minor gripe.
Any of these insignificant shortcomings are offset by the sharpness and autofocus performance of this fantastically built lens.
I am impressed and you will be too!

Overall very great 16mm lens as other reviews online suggest as well! The only downside is there is no image stabilization (IS) with this lens so if you’re not using a camera like the Sony a6500 with in-body IS, be aware of this as it can be quite noticeable coming from using the other Sony E-mount lenses with OpticalSteadyShot (OSS, their naming for IS in this product line).

I’m still ironing out the bugs as far as understanding photography is concerned. But, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens have lived up the to hype of the reviews I checked out all over the internet. Great lens. Wide angle (24mm FF equivalent). Fast auto-focusing. Excellent in low light settings.
I haven’t yet had a chance to put it on a tripod to do night time shooting, but I’m sure it won’t disappoint. If you’re in the market for a good digital (for AF), wide-angle lens with large aperture… look no further than this lens right here. It’s good bang for your buck and directly competes with some of the native Sony lenses for e-mount APS-C cameras.

This lens is amazing. I have a Sony A6000 and have used only sony prime lenses until now. The quality on the sigma is noticeably better. I was worried about blur because my camera body doesn’t have OS but I haven’t come across a blurry picture yet. Sharp quality and an amazing aperture.

Recently I was on a coach holiday in Scotland, visiting the West Coast, the Moray Firth, and the Trossachs. I had with me the wide angle Sigma 16mm, f/1.4 lens for the Sony e-mount on my Sony A6300. I found this very useful in taking a photo of Glen Coe, as the sun was rising, the valley floor was still very dark, although the sky was very bright. The photo of Glen Coe won me a third place at a photographic competition. Where this lens really came into it’s own was when we stopped at the Dochart Falls, in Killin, at 3pm on a very dark, and wet November day. I was able to shoot wide open at f/1.4, and still obtain some respectable images despite the inclement weather. So while a kit lens can be very good, a “fast” prime lens is always useful to have at hand especially if some locations are many miles away, and you may not have another chance to revisit those locations again. This lens is fantastic for landscape, architecture, and group shots, the image quality is fantastic, the build quality is excellent, the lens is a little heavy, but there’s a lot of glass in there!

Klare Kaufempfehlung!

Where is the quality control ? Probably not at SIGMA. This +500$ lens came with a big scratch INSIDE the glass RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. So quality control is nonexistent. Like always is this situation, lost of time, money… Very Very disappointing !

This is a beautiful lens. All of the positive reviews I saw before buying proved to be true. The build quality is excellent and the autofocus is as snappy as any native Sony lens that I own. The lens is a bit chunky for this focal length, but I actually prefer the larger size. I have used it on my a6000, my a5000 and on my a7 in crop mode. It works great on each body.

Everything good you’ve already read about this lens is correct. Having such a wide field of view paired with such a fast aperture is a truly unique and wonderful experience.
You can focus on objects so closely that the lens hood is touching it. This, combined with the speed, and therefore shallow depth of field, makes for a really interesting lens.
Obviously it’s also amazing for night photography and low light in general. I’ve attached some pics to demonstrate what I’m taking about.

Hey thanks for reading my mini review on the sigma 16mm f1.4 lens the I bought from amazon UK via their prime service
The lens comes in a simple box with a protective egg type box protecting the lens, it comes with the warranty information and a nice little lens hood and end cap
The lens is significantly bigger and heavier than the 30mm f1.4 but don’t forget it’s a wide angle lens that is very fast and bright so it’s going to be quite large
I use this lens on my a6500 and it fits lovely and although a little heavy and large it doesn’t feel out of place in the small body
The lens has auto focus and supports all focus points and focus methods on the Sony system and the focus is fast and snappy with little noise… Is it as fast and quiet as native lenses…. No… However its very good and find me one native Sony 16mm f1.4 lens at 400 pounds that can compete or compare
I use dmf focus… Single shot mode…face focus switched on… Spot metering… Focus peaking switched on… Central focus…. It performs great for the way I shoot and I really can’t grumble
The lens optics are top notch and it renders sharp images across the frame, even wide open at f1.4 it is a solid performer and produces great images
The ability to shoot at f1.4 helps keep iso low indoors and when the light gets a little dim which I find very useful
So you have a well built, high performing lens from a reputable company with a great warranty for 400 pounds
If you use this focal length… 24mm on Sony emount…. 32mm on micro four third systems then this lens is a definite purchase and well worth the asking price
Sigma have done some great work recently and they have filled gaps in the emount system that sony didn’t care about… I cavy wait to see how their new 60mm f1.4 lens will perform in the near future
It’s a 5 star rating from me… Great lens… Competitive price… Sigma deserve some credit for supporting the emount system that Sony seem to have forgotten about

Bought this for shooting video on my Sony camera. It’s a very nice lens and it gets very good reviews in the photography world. I ended up returning it, only because this is a prime lens, and I needed a wide angle lens that also has some zoom capability. If you do not require zoom, it is an excellent value.

This lens is very very sharp, perfect for 4k videography. The 16mm focal length however is not that great for photography. If you want a lens just for photography get the 30mm. This 16mm is just too wide for a primary photography lens. Also in order to get any bokeh you need to be REALLY close to your subject. If you’re fine with 16mm focal length the aperture does help a lot with low light situation.
