Samsung 43″ TU7000 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV (UN43TU7000FXZC) [Canada Version]

Was so excited to get this tv. We spent half a day set it up with our existing theatre centre.
Tv looks great and has superior image quality, but didn’t play 98% of our media files via USB, so contacted tech.support and after hours of chatting, we found out the fact that Samsung has dropped all support of many codecs, such as divX and DTS in all of their models in 2020. What I’ve learned, most other TV ( including Sony, LG, RCA, Vision,etc.) support these files but not Samsung, so if you’re looking to watch your home videos via USB on a new, modern TV, then better to stay away from Samsung.

TV is absolutely amazing. Picture is great. Game mode is a bit glitchy. Updates from Samsung have fixed a lot of the issues from when it first came out. Would recommend for the price I got it at . However did have an issue with the screen being damaged when it was received. Was unable to get a replacement through amazon due to covid. However Samsung fixed it with warranty which was great. Overall happy with my purchase.

I’ve had no issues with this TV. Took a gamble because of the negative reviews but I’ve had none of the problems others claim. Good price for decent quality picture.

Before reading any further, do understand that this is a “very reasonably priced” 65 Inch Samsung 4K Ultra HD smart TV. Just under 1K.. Holy wow!! So, keep your expectations limited and according to the price! I see there are many negative reviews out there – but count me fortunate or lucky. I got a great TV. I have no issues that many people faced(no green hue color issues or intermittent color disruption). So read along – and see how I setup my TV

The look is pretty decent, with plastic frame and legs. Probably helped cut some cost here! But’s it’s overall look is quite similar to 65″ higher end Sony TV I own. I have pictures to upload to compare, so check it out.

The remote comes with built-in Tizen operating system, which allows you to access favorite content from the internet.

Comes with Processor 4K that works to upscale all of your content. I tried playing some youtube content and it upscaled it very well. The free channels are not 4K but the upscaling on these channels is preety good too!

This TV is the 2020 model (VA Panel) which offers super impressive color quality that gets you enhanced contrast and incredible brightness by accurately balancing the light output across the screen. Setup, Built and Look – Just cut open the tape on the top of the box and follow the instruction sheet on how to take your TV out. It should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to put the legs on and put it on your TV stand!! Very impressed with the minimalist packin. The overall look of the TV is slim, sturdy and elegant, although almost entirely plastic. For the 65″ TV the stand measures : 39.2″ x 10.6″ – that much wide TV stand be required, unless you plan on mounting, if you decide not to hang. Once the TV is out and you turn it on, it asks you to use your phone and download smarthings app. I must have wasted at least 20 minutes to download this app. The issue I ran into was that my android playstore would not just give me that app!!! Instead I only got smart home app which did not have TV to add as a device. I kept scratching my head and then I realized, my phone is not compatible to download the smarthings app!! So Weird, my phone is a Redmi Note 7. Anyways, I figured out that phone and app was not necessary to setup my TV!!. I just proceeded without and my TV was up and running in 5 minutes.

📌📌So, please ignore the app, if it does not work for you. Another thing to note is that, once you setup the TV and play around, shut it down. Open again, and only then you will be able to download and install the latest firmware(it must be 1083 version – 4/26/2020- can be found in the settings -support). I highly recommend you to do this please!

🎮Gaming🎮 – if you are into gaming, you will enjoy all the 4k and HDR games out there giving you an immersive feeling with deep bright colors and brightness! Have played few games and enjoyed it thoroughly. It comes with Auto Game Mode which automatically optimizes the screen and minimizes input lag, giving you more control. Enjoy a smooth gaming experience without motion blur and judder.

Inputs – There are 2 HDMI – all HDCP 2.2 (HDMI 2 is the only one with ARC), 1 USB(it’s not 3.0), 1 Ethernet, HRD10 support

Although it does have Ethernet port, i have mine run on wifi and it is smooth with no interruptions and mine is 75mbps download. WI-FI support is for both 2.4 and 5GHz, which is great!

I have my Yamaha receiver connected to the hdmi with ARC input. This way, all of my inputs such as cable box, android box, PS4 and Raspberry Pi3 are connected to Yamaha. The sound comes through the surround sound speakers- this all via just 1 hdmi cable from receiver to TV’s ARC input!

✔️One thing I was truly amazed with are the TV Speakers!! I have 2 sony TV, costlier than this Samsung, but sony tv speakers are inferior to this Samsung. It had good bass and good surround sound capability. You may not need to buy a sound bar!!

Settings – I recommend going to rtings site and adjust the color/contrast/brightness settings to begin with. You will then slowly have to make changes from there depending on how dark or bright your room is and what suits your eyes. Just out of the box, without any changes, it worked great for me. There are a lot of settings. But once you find the right settings, it is set and forget. Overall the picture quality is uniform across the screen- cant see any dark or bright spot difference across the 4 sides of the screen. I have comparison pics of my Sony TV and this Samsung TV and you would not find much difference! I am truly amazed by the colors produced by this cheap TV

Remote- It does look cheap with lots of buttons, sometimes awkward to press, and difficult to find buttons in dark (does not illuminate). The one thing (and only one so far) that frustrates me with this TV is the lag with the remote button pressed and TV to react. IT IS SLOW!! I hope Samsung works on this. I wish it had voice command like Sony’s remote.. not a big deal though! This TV works with Alexa and Google home to give commands.

📌Note that, You cannot give commands to change picture setting such as contrast or brightness.

smart Cast – very easy to cast your pics and videos from phone to TV- I was very happy to see that there was barely any lag!

USB – if you have home videos and photos you can just have them in external HD and connect it to TV’s USB. The TV will detect your drive and show you the folders. The built-in media player can play most common audio and video formats from a USB drive.

Cons for me – These are some cons for me, depending on your situation you should be ok with some

❌ not a fan of the stand! If you are planning to mount it(Vesa 300×300), no worries, otherwise you will need to see how wide your TV stand is for it to stand on. It also is designed so that you can hide all the cables behind. You can find good wall mounts for under $30 on Amazon
❌Remote lag – it is once in a while but it is there – it takes few seconds for the TV to react when you press a button, so you just have to be patient and not go crazy pressing the buttons again..
❌ While the smart TV app is simple and there are dedicated netflix, prime video buttons, pressing back button sometimes exits you out completely, so it makes you press a lot of buttons.. There’s a lot this TV has to offer in terms of app, adjustments etc etc.. Take your time to learn the home page and how to navigate, that will make you comfortable the next time you want to find something.

❌ I find majority of the buttons you will pressing crammed together in the center and the design is awkward. This to me is annoying 😬

Also, I did not find angle viewing that bad. Actually, it’s pretty good. Not much of image distortion.

Ultimately, in my opinion it boils down to how you are going to be using this TV, how much you are willing to pay and what is important to you – Is it mainly cable, android box, movies or gaming? This is going to be used by my son for occasional TV (netflix/prime shows) and gaming. Which is perfect as this TV only comes with 2 HDMI and he will not need more!

I own 2 Sony TV XBR900F and XBR850E, and the picture quality of Samsung is definitely comparable for the price you are paying. I am really pleased with the vibrant color and good contrast ratio this TV has to offer.

Despite all the cons I have mentioned, I am extremely pleased with the TV’s output, but the only reason I am giving this 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 is the remote lag! This can be ideal as your gaming Monitor, TV for guest room or your vacation home.
