Now that I am used to these type of k cups I love them. The cleaning is still not my favourite, but not too bad. If you let them dry a bit, you can just sort of shake and bang the grounds out into your compost, then just a quick rinse of the k cup. I fill it 3/4 full of coffee for anyone who isn’t sure how much to use, but obviously that is personal preference.

I bought the paper filters which makes using the pods even that much easier. Love that I can use my own coffee beans or buy ground coffee. I would note to make sure you line up the arrows so you don’t puncture a hole in the wrong spot like I did the first time. Most importantly, is the fact I’m only composting the filters & grounds. No more cleaning out prepackaged pods for recycling.

Why are you here? Probably because you’re tired of buying expensive pods like I was. Why not buy ground coffee and use these to make your own pods and reuse them over and over and save money, right?

    Wrong.

I would never buy these again. I purchased 10 of these and it was the worst decision of my life:

    1. These are not sealed all the way around (obviously, it’s in the picture) but I didn’t think about this when I bought it. When clamped shut and places in the coffee maker, because it’s not sealed all the way around like a closed pod, the coffee grind powder and water spits out from the sides, constantly marking up and dirtying your coffee maker. I clean it every day and anytime I make a coffee, happens again. I’ve used all the reusable pods so it’s not a defect in just one or two. It’s all of them.

    2. Because the mesh is all around, your coffee is watery as heck. This is because the water moves so quickly through these pods because of all the openings. With a traditional pod there is only a hole at the bottom. As the water moves so quickly, your coffee is tasteless and watered and lacks the caffeine you would get with a traditional pod, where the water sits in the pod longer and therefore drains slower into your cup, giving you more robust flavour and a wake up jolt of caffeine.

    3. I get oodles of ground brown sludge at the bottom of my coffee cup. What does this pod filter?

Everything you read in the description and pictures of this product is hogwash. Backed by no testing or science. I used the product correctly, had the holes lined up, etc etc. There were no other variables but the pod: I use the same cups, same settings on my coffee maker (strong brew, largest cup), etc. The only variable were these stupid pods.

These things are terrible and I’ve decided to throw them the hell out and go back to pods. I will use my ground roast with a coffee press instead.

To prove to myself, my wife and others, I went back to traditional SB pods and every issue I had is gone…resolved the lack of caffeine, no sludge at bottom of my cup and my machine is clean.

    DO NOT BUY THESE.

They work great but there is one problem…it needs to be placed correctly into the machine or the needle will pierce the mess. There was nothing referring to this so I just put them in willy nilly and now have 2 pods with holes in them. Hope I can remember this for next time I’m not a morning person.
UPDATE: I’ve ordered another set….the mess bottoms make all the difference. I’ve also learned to put them in the machine properly. I’ve changed my feedback to 5 stars.

You have to be very careful in how to place it in the Keurig. The mesh at the bottom easily punctures if not put in correctly. It takes away from convenience of using pods as drop in, press button and go. It happened to 4 out of 6 pods I bought within a week. I can’t use these pods anymore because coffee grinds spill into the mug and inside the keurig needing cleaning. Instead of this type of pod I recommend the pods with no mesh at the bottom to prevent this.

My big debate was to buy this one – with the obvious flaw in that you had to line the pink strip on the left or it would puncture the bottom mesh – or buy the ones with the gap at the bottom (which you can throw in any direction). So we debated and bought both. I like this one better… Why?

So you have to line up the mesh. But it is simple to do so, and as long as you pay absolutely minimum attention it lines up perfectly. And it makes a better coffee – as you can add more grounds to the pod than the other one. If we are filing up a travel mug (which is bigger than the standard mug we fill using the max water 12 – and we typically do a 4 + 10 = 14) we use this one. And if we have a standard coffee, we use the gap/mesh ones or have a stronger coffee with this one. Both are dead simple to clean – we just leave them out after they are used, and at night just bang them into the compost. They are both sturdy. Highly recommended. We fill ours to the max with an almost fine grind (for a stronger coffee, and don’t drink the bottom bit of coffee), leaving a slight gap for the water to peculate, and they work perfect.

Firm and sturdy. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the cheap ones I bought from the grocery store felt like flimsy plastic. And the mesh eventually broke. These feel stronger and the mesh is much tougher

These fit EXCELLENT, much better fit with less hassle and extra plastic than the one I was forced to buy in store due to it being the only one available to purchase! It belongs to KEURIG AND IT IS WORSE FIT. (See photos)

Haven’t used these filters long enough to comment on sturdiness over time. When I did comparison to what else was available on Amazon, these looked more accurate in shape to the Keurig. Also the price was a better deal, and I will purchase another set once I have had the Keurig longer than 3 months and know it works too!
