To start with I am a die hard Garmin man, I own 5 of them, 2 of which are for big trucks. Compared to my Garmin 465t and 560 dezl this product is a dream come true, it has much more accurate maps, speed limits are by far more accurate, road restrictions are spot on, routing is a far sight better than either Garmin, and the truck services info (poi’s) are accurate and easy to work with. The device takes a little more work to use than the 560 and it’s not quite as flashy graphics wise but it more than makes up for it in accuracy and features such as fast routing, the poi’s, Tell Rand, and the wifi.
Corrections when needed are easy to make on the device and can be reviewed on your PC before you submit them to Rand, poi’s have a personal rating and a community rating to make trip planning easier, and customer service is far beyond anything Garmin offers.
Over all I’m satisfied with this product and would recommend it to other OTR drivers, I haven’t found anything so far that I don’t like about it except that I would like to see a little more info in the poi’s such as number of parking spaces, showers, DEF at the pump or not, and restaurant names if one is there.
    Very Impressed, Thanks!

My husband loves this GPS. It was a replacement for a TND 710 in which the speaker quit working after three years. The 720 has a protective rubber covering and the charging port is now in the back, otherwise seems to be the same. Hope this one works as long as his 710 did because he wanted to keep the 710 as a backup so I called Rand McNally and told them even though it was out of warranty I wanted to send it in and have the speaker repaired at my cost. Of course, their call center was in a foreign country, the guy I spoke with was very rude, told me that they don’t even have the hardware to repair it. I ended up so frustrated I just had to eventually hang up on him. Guess the 710 will end up in the trash because I don’t think my husband will take the chance on using it without a speaker while driving, too dangerous to have to take your eyes off the road to keep looking at it. By the way, we did get external speakers for it but the sound was distorted too much with the engine and road noise.
Hoping the speaker issues have been worked out with his 720 model.

Seemed like their maps were never up to date. Unit would crash all the time and I went through multiple memory cards. The memory cards would back out on their own so the unit didn’t know they were there. I gave up on trying to update it after about 2yrs. Updates always required me calling their tech support. Tech support was knowledgeable and friendly but my unit was needed on the road, not when I got home. I’m still driving a semi, but I don’t have any confidence in this unit. I think I already sent it to recycling.

Rand McNallys customer service is among the worst I’ve ever tried to deal with. I purchased two brand new TND 720 units to put in my trucks for my drivers. One didn’t make it a complete trip before going crazy and not working. I had registered it online and their TND Dock recognizes it. The individual in customer service went on to explain that it was not registered, and only my name was registered. He also stated that they do NOT recognize ANY retailer other than truck stops or their own website. If you buy one from Amazon, the warranty period started when Rand McNally first shipped it to the seller. Not when I bought it. It came in a sealed brand new box from Rand McNally.
This same individual also stated that Rand McNally controls 64% of the marketplace and they really don’t care what a single customer says or feels about them. That’s one of the most arrogant statements I’ve ever heard from a customer service rep. I guarantee I will never give another purchase to Rand McNally as long as I draw a breath.

I upgraded my husbands GPS from the 400 series that he had been using for 3 years (I forgot which 400 series it was) and my husband was shocked when he opened the box. It was a LOT bigger than the older one and he loved it! The power button is on top which is a lot better than the other one, that was located on the bottom left. He’s a night driver so the settings for night impressed him.
The best feature he enjoys using is the Bread Crumb feature, which allows him to mark off road trails, which is great because he works in the oil fields so there is a lot of off road driving with bad directions from dispatch, this helps cut down on drive time and getting lost.
The power button is customizable and the one thing he uses it for is one push and it saves your current location. You can group or categorize destinations which is also very helpful. An excellent buy! Another impressive product from Rand McNally!
