Questioner –

We had a 10″ Digital Picture Frame for many years until a recent power failure and it quit working. Not wanting to be without our photos we decided to purchase this 13.3″ Digital Frame. It arrived as promised and was super easy to set up and get going. Because of the larger size it is like seeing our photos for the first time! They are displayed a little larger, brighter and nice and sharp. One of the things we like about this particular frame is it uses USB/SD card. If I had one criticism, it would be to have a more decorative frame…say wooden, but this is very small issue. We are enjoying this frame and are hoping we will get many years of enjoyment from it. Well worth the money.

This replaces an old 12″ HP digital photo frame that just died suddenly. This unit is really slim, well made and can be seen from oblique angles. The auto-rotate is a neat feature too. The angle can be adjusted by sliding the rest up and down the arm. Neat solution. I also like the fact the remote magnetically attaches to the back of the frame so it doesn’t get lost or stepped on. The long power cord allowed me to hide the adaptor behind a console. Good purchase and I’m glad a spent a little more money that what the cheaper frames cost. This should bring many years of enjoyment.

Purchased for my 90yr old grandfather for Christmas whom we can’t see due to distance and COVID. Figured it would be an easy plug & play way for him to see his grand & great-grand children since he hasn’t seen them in a couple of years due his health. With little instruction he was able to view all of the pictures and video. He was in tears when we spoke. Of course I previewed before shipping to him. I was really surprised with the quality. It’s excellent. Live the motion sensor & ability to change settings. Love the auto-rotate as well. That was a big influence. It does feel like like cheap lightweight plastic and wish there were frame options (natural wood, etc) but that’s just esthetics. The whole point was to find a quality item that is user friendly. Highly recommend.

I bought the NIX 10 unit for my 92 year old mother, went through the user manual before I order it, along with 3 X 32 Gb USB key. I already have a 2 years old NIX 10 so I know how it work. After loading pictures on the USB key connect and set-up the NIX, it did not recognize the key. We have to un-plug and plug the key, turn on and off many times thestart button. Quite different from my old unit. I finally found out that this unit do not accept 32 GB key, I installed a 8 Gb key and it work properly.
U-Manual do not mentionned any size.
So I am stuck with 3 useless 32 Gb key

I ordered one of these for my 90 year old mother, who has been having trouble using her tablet lately. The set up was very easy, and everything works as described. The packaging and manual are first rate. The screen is bright and clear. This is not a retina screen on a iPad, but we are pleased with the quality of the pictures. Photos auto rotate to appear correctly on the screen, and there are many options for display.
It is “set and forget” so I’m comfortable leaving it with my Mom. The included remote works well-I was impressed that the remote has a built in magnet to stick it to the fridge. Once set up, you do not need the remote to run the frame.
I found it worked best with a 32gig USB 3. Drive. I could not get a USB 2 drive to load. I also formatted the thumb drive as DOS.
This was a fun product and I recommend it to any senior. I plan to buy one for myself to pay as I work without taking up screen real estate on on laptop.

This embedded device does not recover and resume gracefully from slideshow mode after power loss. Once the power is cut the unit defaults to the main title screen prompting the user to make a mode selection. This will eventually happen and you will need to manually intervene to get this working again. The main purpose of a digital photo frame is to display photos in some form of slideshow once configured without the need for user interaction.
Customer support confirms that this is default behaviour across all product lines. How does this pass quality assurance? I have no clue.
Perhaps you’re the type of person who enjoys providing tech support to your 84 year old Grandmother Beatrice who will be calling you asking why your gift isn’t working anymore. Doubly worse if you happen to wall mount this with the provided hardware.
There is no easy way to determine if a digital photo frame resumes operation properly on a power cut unless you actually test it. I know my previous frame exhibited no such issues.
Returned. Look elsewhere.

I ordered this product to show off a number of photographs from a recent family gathering, and it doesn’t disappoint. It arrived 3 days ahead of expectations and was well packaged with a well written “Getting Started” guide. Not that there is much to learn, it is a plug and play item. Select the plug adaptor (both UK and European adaptors provided), plug in a USB/SD card with photographs and away you go. There are a range of options that can be customised, very easily, with the remote control. The motion detection came disabled by default, but once switched on, is a real bonus and works well. The picture quality is excellent, and it handled portrait/landscape aspect ratio photographs automatically, with only a couple out of over 250 items not being correctly displayed. I assume this is because the orientation marker in the photo metadata is incorrect, so I’ll sort that out using a photo editor. A neat touch is that the remote control attaches to the back of the unit with a magnet, so no losing that!
In summary, a solid, well built and quality item; provided with good documentation and some thoughtful design features. Not the cheapest, but I feel it is excellent value-for-money.

Great digital frame. I needed to replace one that was several years old and stopped working and this is exactly what I was looking for. The display is very nice, easily viewed at all angles. Motion sensor works well, shuffle doesn’t constantly repeat images like on my old one. Very easy to use I just converted all my images to the correct ratio and put them all on a USB stick then plugged in. Having a clock option on the display is nice and being able to put it to sleep overnight is a good feature.

Only my phone takes pictures at 16:9. My Canon is 3:2.
Portrait pictures end up too small to see.
Diagonal inches makes a great headline figure – but watch the aspect ratio!
My ideal aspect ratio is still 4:3 as best compromise between landscape and portrait pics, but quality ones seem to be getting more and more rare.
Its going back.
Opus Pryme –
This is the third digital frame I’ve purchased in a relatively short time – the other two? One stopped working and the other didn’t display most of the photos and kept repeating the ones it did show. This one looks and feels expensive, performs v well and most importantly, it shows ALL the photos on the memory card. Tried using false economy opting for cheaper brands but should’ve bought this one in the first place as Nix are specialists in the digital photo frame.

This is a great digital picture frame. The size was great, the functionality is simple to use yet detailed enough to add some variety/style and the remote control works. I also liked the design as you could tell some thought was put into it. The fact that you can neatly store the remote behind the picture frame (magnets) is a great touch.
I found uploading pictures to be of no issue (drag and drop) and I like how the program is intelligent enough to know when to flip photos, depending how you place the picture frame. Beware though that the aspect ratio is different from classic DSLR cameras and you may need to do some minor editing if you want the picture frame to fill up fully. Otherwise you will have a lot of photos with black boarders. Its not ugly but something to keep in mind.
My two biggest grips with this product is that I felt the motion sensor had limited range (not a huge deal depending on where you place it and what settings you want) as well as the picture frame itself was a bit too thick. A slimmer boarder would have been appreciated but that is personal aesthetics.
