The glasses are very good. Great field of view for the magnification. The soft case it comes with is a little bit too small, which was mentioned in other reviews I read too. But it is manageable. The lens caps that come with it are also not a very tight fit, so the can fall off a little too easily. Otherwise the binoculars themselves are very solid, and have good grip, and amazing image quality. Still great value despite the minor issues with the accessories.

I use this for watching birds and love it. Clear view- easy to adjust and focus. It works well with glasses. Lightweight when I use the neck strap. I’m very pleased.

First thing that will strike when u use Nikon Prostaff 3s 8×42 is its lightweight (551 gms only). Next is its sharp focus. Bright images. Mind you, u should know how to use this. Closing right eye then focusing on something, then closing left eye and focusing on the same object with right eye using the diopter ring, which is by the way, very tight. Once focusing is done u r good and ready. These binos are for daytime use. During twilight and dawn image is not so clear. I have Nikon Prostaff 3s 10×42 also, so comparing both I feel 10×42 is better in capturing details. But remember both have fov above 7 degrees which is rare these days. Pros for this thing is its lightweight and superb quality. It is built like a tank but still lightweight. No other bino at this price range comes close to this.

Excellent, light weight, handy, amazing and robust built quality. This Nikon prostaff 3s is an outstanding product at a very reasonable price.
Thanks Nikon and Amazon.

Those who say that 3S has a 1/4″ screw tripod mounting option have not attempted to remove what they think is a metal cap over that threaded opening ?
Trying to remove the front central post cover only marrs the metal. And that is aggravating !
Any binocs can be mounted with a wrap-around tripod adaptor but that is not the same as
1) centre post adapter ( common for large Nikon binocs )
2) centre post front screw cap to reveal threaded 1/4″ for standard binocs tripod adapter.
I have no recall of being vexed by Nikon in the past.

I liked the product but the box came damaged and the binoculars looked used. I think I got a return product shipped to me. I requested an exchange because I need a brand new product ( not returned one). Binoculars look great and good quality.

I’m not at all a right person to certify or to specify what standards to meet the Nikon. It’s beast in all kinds of optics technology. It’s more than enough for normal users or beginners. But as you know these kind of products are imported (at least their technology) their prices are not affordable for middle class people in India.

Everything was great until I read the warranty. It was good for USA, Central and South America. No mention of Canada! Even though the vendor was Amazon/com/ca. Thanks Amazon.ca

Yes It’s kind of expensive for compact binoculars. What you get is legendary Nikon ED glass just as the expensive camera lenses that Nikon makes. You get super compact binoculars that are very light and rugged at the same time. So in this case, expense is relative. Compared to similar binos from other top brands, they are competitively priced. Of course, image quality is great (clear and sharp) and they are easy to adjust with the diopter and main focusing ring. I initially got the Pro Staff 3S in 10 X 42 which are also great for the price but I wanted something smaller with ED glass that I could carry everywhere in their included belt pouch and that’s why I got these. One con: I really don’t like the rear eye piece plastic cover. It’s very clumsy since it fits loosely and will fall if the binos are turned upside down. What was Nikon thinking ? The front covers are perfect as they fit in tightly and will never fall off since they hang permanently from the binos when taken off.

Five star binoculars although hard to notice any better clarity than the Bushnell I have used for the past 40 years. About 100 grams lighter though.
I like that the right eye lens adjustment is stiff enough to retain the setting when you next need it. I wish the eye relief would also retain their settings the next time the binoculars are picked up for use.
I hang my binoculars high on my chest rather than low on my belly. At the shortest strap adjustment they are about right. I suggest Nikon shorten the wide neck part of the strap by about 20 cms.. The narrow part can be as long as Nikon wants. (I cut 15 cms. off each end).
The eye piece caps did not work for me. The connecting zig-zag is too stiff (or too long) so is pushing outwards when the binoculars are bent for normal eye separation. The hanging caps are also in the way when viewing (with the strap adjusted to its shortest). I cut this connector off and attached two pieces of elastic string to each cap pulling down to the objective lens caps.
The objective lens caps – actually plugs – are not attached to anything. So now mine are connected to the eyepiece caps by string which passes through the strap attachments lugs. All caps now snap in place, stay there, hang out of the way when viewing and won’t get lost.
Still, the Nikon Prostaff 10X40s are five star binoculars.

Purchased as a birthday gift, recipient very pleased. Tried them myself, was reluctant to hand them back – crystal clear, also capture a great deal of light in overcast conditions. Easy to use, intelligent design, very lightweight, could fit in oversize pocket. Strap is decent for OEM, pouch has belt loop, so can attach to knapsack or belt if desired. Quality materials throughout, have absolutely nothing even vaguely negative to write here.
