Highly recommend! Extremely sturdy- love that it attaches to the wall so it doesnt move. It was also super easy to put together. The wood is thick and a bit heavier so you can add heavy books without it sagging in the center. The metal is also very sturdy and wont budge. Everything lines up perfectly when attaching shelves to unit. but you can double check when attaching to the wall that its leveled (it was perfect). There was absoloutely no damages to mine on the wood or metal (i purchased 2 bookcases in black and walnut)
Took me about 20 mins to put together and attach to the wall (im a girl with NO building experience). All screws including drywall screws were provided.
Came 3 days earlier than expected (during covid lockdown where everything is delayed).
Would highly recommend.

I love love love this shelf unit! I have been wanting to finish my kitchen and was told that I cannot put cabinetry above the butcher block countertop area because behind that wall on the right side is the fuse box. I was bummed out for a while and was looking for the types of shelves that would hang from the ceiling and found them to be incredibly expensive and they didn’t hang down low enough from my 10 foot ceilings to be practical. Because this unit is 6 feet tall and you only need 2 screws at the top of the unit to secure it in place, I thought I should try it. My husband and I put it together the moment it arrived and it was as easy as can be. from the moment I stood it up on the counter and felt how sturdy it was I was certain that the two screws holding it onto the wall would finally add some interest on that side of my kitchen. I included a couple pictures because although it is not advertised that it can sit on top a secured piece of furniture, it may give all you DIYers some creative ideas. My suggestion is to put a tablecloth on a big table and balance it out by doing the top shelf and then the bottom one. Oh, and use a electric screwdriver with a hex bit – for the love of God. Easy Peezy! The instructions are incredibly easy and almost fun read to put together. You really do get a lot of bang for your buck with this one.

This shelving unit looks really nice, the frame itself is sturdy however 3 of the 5 shelves are useless as they are loose, so I have to do a balancing act with my books to keep the individual shelves from tilting forward or backward. No amount of tightening seems to help. Very disappointing and for the price I feel like I got robbed (I bought this when it was listed for almost $300). This isn’t worth more than $75, and even then why would you pay any amount for something (as simple as a shelving unit) that doesn’t work properly. If I could return it I would have.

I purchased 2 of the bookshelves and Love the look!! Considering the $$ paid, I don’t think I should have to settle for chipped shelves and bent hardware. 5 of the 10 shelves are chipped!! Hubby was able to fix the bent hardware but we are VERY unhappy w the damaged shelves! 😰

I bought three of these for my den and now I’ve ordered two more for more things. Overall these are a very good value for the money. Fit and finish are good.
Here’s a tip when assembling: the support bars come in two pieces and need to be bolted together to be at their full height. Do that for both, then only bolt the shelves to one side on one support arm. Lay the unit on its side, then lay in the other support arm. Bolt the other side of the shelves.
The problem is that the bolts that connect the two parts of the support bar block you from sliding the shelf down on its support arm that sits between the two bolts. You need to slide it in from the side, not the top. So if you’re trying to bolt the shelves on both sides, from the top shelf on down as you go, you’re gonna find yourself stuck and having to undo the prior shelves. The instructions make it look like this is the sequence but it’s not.

Absolutely love this piece. Used it in a large powder room with lots of wall space. Fit perfectly in the corner next to the door. Was easy to assemble and is very sturdily constructed with a heavy steel frame.
Love that the shelves rest snugly against the wall so nothing can fall behind them. Plenty of clearance below the bottom shelf for Roomba to clean beneath it.
My plan is to add baskets that fit snugly between the shelves for more storage. Space on each shelf (except the top one of course which is limited only by your ceiling height) allows for baskets approximately 11.5 inches high x 12” deep x 22.5 wide so I am looking for baskets of that size – except half the width since I’d like to use 2 across. I’ve found some online measuring 11x11x11 and may go with them unless someone has another recommendation- please leave in comments if you do! In the meantime I have smaller dark gray baskets in place.
My only issue with this shelving unit was damage that mostly appeared to have been shipping related. One shelf support was bent slightly and the plastic insert at the base of the same leg was broken into several pieces. In addition one shelf had a gouge in it – but it was on the bottom so could be placed as the bottommost shelf and would never be seen.
I called the company’s toll free number that is listed on every single page of well illustrated and highly entertaining (expertly written by a native English speaker) assembly instructions!) and left a message about my issue. A few hours later I received a return phone call from Melanie in their “customer happiness” department. She asked me to email pics of the damage and I’d assumed she’d arrange for a replacement leg but instead she emailed to let me know that a complete replacement shelving unit was on the way to me! She subsequently emailed to give me the UPS tracking number. Then she emailed yet again to ask how the delivery had gone and if everything was ok with the replacement unit.
That’s the kind of customer service you rarely see and always appreciate.

Was very easy to assemble (took 30 min and that’s including looking for my tool kit). Was expecting something bulky but turns out that it is very discreet and fits perfectly with the rest of my furniture. The size is perfect…not too high, just enough shelves…looks delicate but is strongly built. I am simply in love with it. Can be placed in a bedroom,living room, kitchen…it doesn’t matter. I would recommend this product without a doubt. I might even purchase 3 more to replace my old bookcases. Thank you Nathan James for such a beautiful product.

The bookcases were easy to build and actually look very nice and modern. The only problem is, one of the bookcases wasn’t as well put together as the other three (I ordered four) and was damaged (metal scratched/grooved at the side of one of the shelves), which was such a shame, as they were not cheap.

The color is exactly as advertised. The quality of the cuts and edging are great. The finish is smooth and looks expensive. The weight is great. Install took 15 minutes. I would only recommend to use better mounting hardware like the drywall anchors you can also get in Amazon for cheap. The one included is cheap, but who cares.
Overall I’m impressed with this new shelf!

Looks good and was easy enough to assemble for one person. One thing I would keep in mind is to go a one size down in drill bit when you’re making your holes. It says to use 1/4 inch but the anchors that they provide might push right through the drywall with that size hole (hapenned to 2/4 for me).

I recently purchased their 5-shelf Theo Bookcase from Amazon.ca (sold from UrbanInspirations – a 3rd party company) only to have the bookcase arrive with shelves dinged and with scrapes over them. I called the Nathan James customer service directly, spoke with a super helpful, friendly rep named Leyla. She immediately took action, found a replacement bookshelf from Wayfair and help ship it to me free of cost. AND I didn’t need to pay to return the damaged bookcase. She then followed up multiple times via email to ensure everything was ok, and that I received the replacement bookcase. Could not have been happier with their customer service.
Re the bookcase, its GORGEOUS. Crazy easy to build (built it by myself in under 30 mins). Does not require to be nailed into the wall studs, it comes with drywall screws. Its modern and super sturdy. I ended up buying a second I liked it so much.

Really upset- the description says “reclaimed wood”, and when you get the package it also says the shelves are “reclaimed maple”, and they are really press board with a veneer over top.

I bought this shelf to put plants on and it’s working splendidly. The gold metal is a great tone- it’s not too bright but it still looks and feels luxurious. Also the bars are magnetic if that’s a feature you were looking for.
The shelf was easy to install and can be put together and mounted with one person. My only complaint is that the wood shelf themselves on the white and gold version did have some dents and scratched on them when I unboxed the shelf making them see a tad cheap. It’s not that big of a deal for me since my shelf are covered with plants but if you were planning to have less things on your shelf it might be of annoyance.
