Once you know to order a size larger this is a great buy. My five year old is just growing out of normal size 5-6 eg N ext. The size 7-8 in this jacket fits him well with the sleeves rolled up a bit (which is actually nicer as the blue fleece showing at the cuffs looks nice). Good school jacket for cool ish, showery Autumn days, pre deployment of big coat. V light/ easy to wear. It says £29.99 on the mountain warehouse label, I paid £14.99 plus £5 IRISH postage… it’s good value at that.

Purchased size 9-10 which is the same size as EVERY other article of clothing we have for our son. Unfortunately this was WAY too small, fit like a 7-8 at most! The other major unfortunate thing is that although we have prime, the seller requires you pay for shipping on any returns! In this case the shipping will cost half of the cost of the jacket!! Waste of money…lesson learned. Be careful of the return policy even if it’s through prime!

Be warned !!! This company makes you pay out do your own pocket the shipping cost back to them! That means if you simply want to exchange they will have you pay the $$$ to ship back. All reviews of the item state it fits small and it is simply too difficult to get the correct size without trying on.
This product is even smaller than many of the reviews share. Going up x2 sizes bigger in my opinion is necessary for this to last more than a season on children under 13 years old and that’s still a guess. But that’s not for sure the case with every kid.
So if you want to pay $40 for a nice coat that there’s a 50% chance you’ll have to exchange size and want to pay $15-20 shipping to return than it would be worth it as it’s now a $50 coat.
But you can go to a store and find the coat for less than ordering off here in the guaranteed size without the fuss or extra hit the company will make you pay using amazon.
So turned off by this company cheeping out on their customers getting what they need when ordered two coats that we won’t keep either now.

I got 11-12 size for my 11yo girl. She’s average height/build so if i had a second go, i’d probably try a size up. It should not shrink in the wash due to materials but i think most parents, would love to have at least 2 seasons out of stuff like this.
Well priced, and stitching is OK. The zipper is medium duty so seems OK for the type of jacket it is. We’re having a strange spring — 2020, april may seeing sub zero temperatures, and even snow! So this jacket is a great “pre-spring” jacket as well as an autumn jacket.
I have no complaints thus far other than the sizing issue — i really wish i sized up, so buyer beware. I want to report back if anything such as zipper/stitching falls apart in unusual early timeframe. budget brands such as mountain warehouse, tend to be great at the start but falls apart after good use (ex: child’s usage — which is pretty rough).
Update:
This stands the test of time. One year later I bought the same jacket but different color and size 13. My kid outgrew the 11-12 in a year and I bought next size up , 13. She had a massive growth spurt and she’s still only 11 but now wearing size 13 youth. I find 13 a bit long on arms for her but 11-12 is short for her arms. Nevertheless it’s a better fit. This jacket is perfect cool weather jacket and looks still brand new a year later. I can easily hand it down to my younger daughter today. And its maintained stitching and zero issues. So I can easily recommend this specific jacket for youth. Well spent and it lasts for two kids or more.

I need to return it to get a bigger size. My son is an average size 8 year old and it is too small. Edit I don’t know how to rate this product. I have actually bought this product twice for my average size 8 year old. The first jacket which was a 9-10 was too small, so I returned it and, as you can tell in the photo above, I ordered a 10-11. It fit great, one problem, again see photos, there is a hole in the pocket. I am not returning it again because my son loves it. My little guy is autistic and is very sensitive to how clothes feel, and he loves how this one feels. It is a beautiful jacket and appears in every other respect to be very well made, I’m just so disappointed about that pocket…and I hate to sew.

It didn’t fit my grand-son. Mountain Warehouse has not return item service. The postage fees for return Item was 13 $ on a 39 $ item. The is poor service and Amazon shouldn’t accept this mediocre service from any vendors

Great quality and looks really good. However the sizes are quite off. My son is just over 4.5yo and normally wears size 6/7. Bought this jacket in 7/8 which was a bit tight, sleeves a bit on the long side and wouldn’t last 3 months. So I purchased another in 9/10 and this was way too large, my little one looked worryingly at me and said ‘why did you buy this mum?’
Really love it so looking at the price it might be worth keeping the 7/8. Not too sure atm

I would like to give this jacket 5 stars because it is nice, resistant to wear and tear, the colours are nice and my sone loves it. But the sizes are so off and also the overall fit seems to be a little bit off. It seems to be to narrow in the shoulders area and the sleeves are kind of tight around the upper arm and underarm. The zipper works fine for the moment, but I’m wondering for how long, since this seems to be the kind that needs more patience to handle than kids usually have. I bought a size 14 for a 9 year old.

I’m pretty sure it’s all of Mountain Warehouse cloths, but they fit waaaaaaay too small. My son who is 8 (almost 9 in 4 months) is 60 lbs and is 4 foot 3 inch. He’s pretty small, not a chunky kid whatsoever. I orderes this jacket for the age range is said on the description. When it came in it was waaaay too small. Like, it would have fit a 6 yr old perfect.

I’m sorry to say that it’s the company that has let the product down and not the other way around! Ordered 2 jacket’s which unfortunately were too small so needed the next size up. Was advised it was easier and quicker to return goods for them to be exchanged……..this was a grave mistake! It took 2 weeks for them to sort this out and not at any point was I advised that they didn’t have the exchanges in stock, instead they fobbed me off & told me they were being despatched when infact they weren’t. I would not order from this company again. Shame because the jackets seemed good quality!!

Ok, so I read alot of the previous reviews for this product and alot of them were saying order up on size. So I did, and this jacket is still to small. My son just turned 10 4 days ago, so I order an 11-12 and it is still to small around the mid section. The only reason I give this product a 2 star is because the delivery was very fast, that’s it and I will explore options to return.

Lovely coat, well made with a decent sized hood, seems to hold up against water and keeps wind out, fit was as expected and true to size, nice to have a non padded coat to use in the car that still keeps my daughter relatively warm

Bought this coat for both of our boys (followed advice in other reviews and order sizes above their age range – so for 9 year old (almost 10 year old and quite tall with long arms like his mum :-)) I ordered 12-13 and for the 3 year old (almost 4 year old) ordered 5 – 6 years and both fit really well (have to roll up the arm a bit on both but thats fine). The coats are warm and definitely more than shower proof as we spent one Saturday outside in the rain for about 3 – 4 hours (no umbrella) and the jackets held up, kept them warm and although wet the material just about managed to stop the water penetrating through the fleece. Definitely recommend!
