Don’t pay over $200 Cdn for this phone. This phone looks nice, and is fast, but suffers from poor software just like most of the android phones I’ve ever owned. EVERY phone call I make gets muted or hung up by my cheek. The screen comes back on after you put the phone to your ear, and every option is hit just from my cheek (wifi, bluetooth, mute call, end call, etc.) My Moto G5 was 100% more reliable than this. I have to make a major conscious effort to hold the phone away from my head, every day. The video on this G8 Plus is also not nearly as good as my ancient Samsung S3!! Night video with the flash on is pure garbage. I’m very surprised, since I generally trust Motorola to make a good phone. Sometimes I need to enter my security PIN just in order to end a call with someone. The software is SH!T. Phones seems to be like cars; the newer they are, the more pointless garbage they come loaded with, and everything in general is worse quality than the previous generation. UPDATE FOR JAN 2020: This phone gets worse after every system update. It now fumbles, and you lose speaker volume control when talking to someone, especially when headphones and a mic are connected. This phone is a piece of junk. I got the rid of it after only 4-5 months. Very disappointing. AUGUST 2021 update: Phone seems to work much better after the latest update. Too bad the update came almost a year too late! I had to waste money on getting a different phone model because the G8 was so unreliable.

Buyer beware! Purchase at your own peril! This phone has no Motorola warranty, (mine expired 2017). I contacted Motorola gave them the MIE Number, they emailed me back and told me mine was manufactured for distribution in the Cayman Islands, NO warranty. This has certainly soured my liking for Motorola products. My last Motorola G7 lasted 10 months then the battery swelled destroying the phone. My last three out of four Motorola Gs Failed in one way or another (2 had bad cameras, 1 The flash / light quit working, My last G7 Battery swelled, splitting the phone in half!)
I have purchase Motorola products since the 60s. At one time back in the 60s every fire Department, Police Department in this country used Motorola communication devices, radios and walkies talkies for their quality and dependability and would never think about any other Manufacturer. What has happened to this one time world class company?
This phone, I recommend you don’t use the turbocharger and don’t leave it plugged in all the time. Charger to 80% then unplug it. Download a good battery app. My next time, I’m going to look at a Samsung!

It’s such a massive upgrade from my prior phone that even if those 1000-1500 dollars phones are way better, I wouldn’t know. Spending that much on a phone is nuts to me, I appreciate money too much.

This phone is fast and responsive. The camera is decent and I appreciate being able to shoot in RAW. At this price, there isn’t much I can complain about. FYI it is the XT2019-2 (no NFC), but this feature wasn’t necessary for me. It also doesn’t have the Android 10 firmware yet.
Something worth mentioning is, my unit came with instructions in Spanish, so this is the Latin America (Brazil) model.
