I purchased the Macally cup as it was the closest visually to the Weathertech version. It wasn’t the cheapest so I thought it would be comparable. The cup doesn’t fit well in the cup holder and continues to wobble. The mechanism is extremely stiff and hard to maneuver. The worst part is that they promote that it fits the iPhone with a case but it doesn’t. My iPhone 7 is never snug and a hard brake will probably send it flying. Wouldn’t recommend it and definitely not worth the money.

I have been using this holder for several months now in my F150’s right-side of the double drink holder just below the stereo (not the one in the console over middle seat), and it has worked very well. It holds my Galaxy8 snugly, even on the rough country roads, and I have never experienced the phone fall out of the holder, or even wiggle out of alignment. Also, no interference whatsoever with phone’s reception whether making calls or using navigation.
I tried several other/different holders in the past, incl. the ones that clip into the vents, but this one has outperformed all of them. Very happy with my purchase.

Works very well but you may have to fiddle around with tightening the base in the cup holder depending on what style cup holder you have. For example the cup holder in my vehicle is tapered and has the spring loaded things to hold smaller cups in place. This one still works but I had to adjust where and how deeply it sat in the holder. In order for it to be really stable you have to turn the collar to extend the sides to grip the inside of the cup holder but if you over tighten it will strip inside the unit and then it will always be loose. So tighten a little at a time and adjust as necessary. Once in place it works great on an iPhone 6 and 7 Plus

Does the job and positions my phone where I can easily see it, charge it, and access it! Only issue I had was it does not fit great in my cup holder. I wish the adjustment could go a bit wider as my cup holder is not very big by any means and this still wiggles at the widest setting. Still I really like it so I may put a layer of thin foam in the holder so it expands to a better fit. Other than that it holds my phone securely and is stiff to adjust the position, which is a good thing, seeing as your elbow or hand my bump into it.

First time fitting into a Ford C-Max cupholder – not overtightened and the internal clamp mechanism snapped before it was locked in place – hopeless. Returned immediately – will try the Belkin version next and see if that’s any better. It’s a shame as, apart from the shoddy & cheap internal engineering, it was the right height & shape for the phone in the car

Impressed with the quality of the product , fits my 16 reg 3 series Bmw perfectly the shorter one is just the right height to clear my gear stick, I now use the sat nav on my phone instead of the bmw one !

A great solution after you’ve thrown out the other holders you’ve wasted money on, such as suction holders, (non) clingy goo holders, and the ones that destroy your air vents. We throw it in our carry on for rental car use everywhere we go.

The reason you would buy this product is to view your phone while driving- for GPS etc- However, most cup holders are forward and down at center console level making the viewing of your phone a distraction and possible driving hazzard!

One of the most popular phone mounts for cars is those that use the air vent fins. But air vent fins were never designed for that purpose and often can’t take the weight of both the mount and the phone. And if you are using the air vent to hold a phone, you can’t use the air vent itself! Another popular option is a disc mounted on the dash to hold some device and then the phone. But that puts your phone in the sunlight, and sometimes the discs don’t adhere well to the dash or the device won’t hold to the disc. The most overlooked option is the cup holder, and the folks at Macally have the cup holder phone mount designed perfectly. It is robust and easily attaches to the cup holder and will not move. It’s also in a perfect location for a quick look, but can’t be easily seen from outside the car and isn’t in the sunlight. Everything is adjustable and secure. The phone quick-release is awesome! Great choice. You will love this device.

All the washers got loose and it wobbles all over the place now, the tightening mechanism is dethreaded as well withing a short time. There is a terrible rattling noise now as well when going over bumpy roads

The stem is so stiff that it is very hard to adjust the position of the phone
The base that is designed to fit a cup holder has 4 expanding sections
however, this does not fit at all well in my Rav 4 which has its own 3 expanding tabs
